CCP is a awesome company as a whole , and Seriously i was exited about this game so freaking exited , EVE online was such a great game and Dust514 ( concepts ) is flawless and so awesome ,
While the conectivity between dust and eve making one big wold alive is just amasing ...
But the gameplay , gunplay , caracter moovement , controles , etc.. everything on the gameplay aspect Suck badly , i can even describe how much a let down this game is to me ....
Everything feel wrong for a FPS game ,
I cant consider this a competitive shooter , i cant enjoy this game because of those awefull first person mechanics , the gameplay is simply BAD
take a game like planetside 2 , the gameplay is quiet enjoyable even if it need a little polish here and there the gunplay m,echanics are good and enjoyable
Take a game like killzone 2 , even if it was little slugish the pace was great with it ,
Take battlefield , take even COD the gunplay feel right in some ways no matter if we like or dislike the surounding of those game
DUST514 is a major failure , in term of Gunplay i dont know who is responsible for this but fired those peoples and bring some experienced folks who know how to make a good fps ,
Even section 8 ( made with unreal engine ) was a way better game and as a much more enjoyable gunplay then Dust 514
make the caracter moovement more fluid , correct the gunplay and controles weirdness
It sad to say but this game will fail only because of that while it as so much potential .. |

I would have liked them to have gone back to their original demo designs. I know it was on a different engine but that was the engine that sold me for DUST in the first place.
Assault Rifles that actually felt like assault rifles, grenade launchers underslung, red dot sights all on one weapon. Now imagine thowing all of the cool weapons and modules from current dust back into that style of game play.
Also CCP I know you love radial menu's but all of your demo designs for HUD's in planetary views were way cooler than they are now.
As I've said before the player base of DUST is here, we are ready for a fully completed AAA shooter with huge EVE dust links...... but do we have that yet? |

Unless the game is given a complete overall, no matter much gameplay wise it's made like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Modern Warfare, Killzone or pick your own modern FPS equivalent. The MMO, RPG leveling/grinding elements of Dust are still going to be a major turn-off to most of the core-base for those sort of games. In that respect CCP, in my opinion, is better off trying to harsh out a place in the middle of the FPS and RPG/MMO markets, rather then trying to fit directly into either. Competeing head-to-head with other, well known FPS titles would be a no-win situation, similarly for RPGs. However there is a market with playes who like both. That's what I believe Dust in aiming for.
I'm not saying there aren't flaws in the gameplay, and admittedly I didn't play during either closed or open beta. I'm just stating I see a reason why CCP wouldn't want to walk the same gameplay style path as other first person shooters.

Increasing sensitivity mitigates the clunky feeling for gunplay to a degree. I personally put mine at 100 and never looked back.
When I look at the gameplay of Dust, I always remember how this game is geared heavily toward teamwork and not multiple instances of player vs player combat occurring randomly across the battlefield. Holding down one position, using the combined efforts of a squad and your other teammates rather then roaming solo, from place to place, looking for the next kill is most often, though not always, the better approach to combat.
I see several people complaining about the gameplay of Dust, and to an extent I agree. There are many improvements which could be made. However, I can't help but wonder if some of those people are really complaining about how it's hard or even next to impossible (depending on how deep in SP a player is) to run around Rambo style in Dust. The game is simply not intended to be played that way, at least not from the start. |

Cmon guys Dust is not all terrible, needs loads of work but there are some fun aspects to the game.
Skill Points system isn't terrible, it's just implemented in a poor way that makes for not just grinding but banging your head against the wall. You get PVE and throw in some sort of matchmaking and it's now more relaxing and fun but still allows greater "leveled" chars to high areas (namely PC for now)
Weapons are actually pretty good. There are some balance issues that we are addressing but there is plenty to improve upon. However, people need to understand that different does not make a weapon imbalanced (SR v AR debate anyone?) Sights and attachments could add a lot but this needs to be done right.
We have a solid list of gamemodes in which to START. Add a little Rush (Skirmish 1.0) and we now have more than BF3 (in terms of useful modes). You get some fluff ones and improve the ones we have and we are sitting pretty.
The building of your char is great in this game. Fitting takes some brains and a little ingenuity but you can make anything you really want. We have some glaring imbalance issues here (like suits with tons of slots over others and worthless mods) but we could get there.
Skipping other stuff... Now the bad.
FPS experience is lacking. You take wonky hit detection and slippery aim and guns that just feel off and throw that in to competitive gameplay and you have some SERIOUS issues, especially when you add in the issues from above. Dust is never going to have the gunplay of COD, the epicness of BF, nor the tactical gameplay of CS but we really should aim to be at least average in these categories. People who only want the best FPS experience should hit the door now, it will never happen. Dust needs to forge a avg fps with good RPG with Mmo.
Really this game should aim for UT in terms of FPS, which is where I think we are headed.
I had more rant in me about map design, map number, lacking links with Eve, lacking trading and much more but I'll just end it here. |

You dont get the point , the gunplay is game breaking the caracter moovement is awefull and the overall Gameplay gunsplay is horrific and not enjoyable by any strech of the imagination
This game will be a colossal failure if they dont get rid of the current gunplay caracter moovement to replace it by a good and enjoyable one like planetside 2 , battlefield , halo , killzone , MAG , i can name pretty much 10000 games who as enjoyable core gameplay experience
In your reply you talk about feature , or map layout ? these are feature these arent related to the core gunplay/gameplay/caracter moovement so anything that you found (( good )) are irrevelant
its like if your house as millions of features but broken fondation is your house will be any good ?
Its better to have a good fondation and then build on it , Dust is like a uber futuristic house with all the comodity but with broken plumbing . broken fondation so how your life will be by the end living in this house ? yeah the life will be miserable , because to enjoy such house the plumbing as to work properly and the fondation need to be rock solid do you get it now ? |

This is what bothers me.....
Many people have been saying that the gameplay and gunplay feels clunky and ruins the experience. But from Chromosome to Uprising....it just got worse. I feel as if CCP only has a hard on for the rpg side but is neglecting the fps side.
I am not an insider in the game development industry...but I'm wondering is it really that hard to fix this problem? I can understand if this was uncharted territory but so many games have already laid the blueprint. And from what I understand, there are MAG & BF3 developers on dust's staff. Even if they suck..they must have some insight...they must see that there is something wrong here.

This needs to take priority I'm guessing that's going to be in large part what we get in Uprising 1.2. They've only got the two armor plates as assets that they're adding, and the .2 would indicate this is a larger incremental update as opposed to how Odyssey 1.0.3 was released recently, and was primarily fixes to smaller bugs. |

I really don't think that many people don't understand this game. They need to do something about light arms effective range in this game though. The distances are way to short. Other than that I really enjoy this game a lot when it is not gliching out on me, haveing it's fram rate drop when I ADS, or having hit detection problems. And as much as I want CCP to fix this stuff as quickly as possible, I'm not going to quit the game on acount of this stuff. It is bearable until the fixes can be made, which will be very soon hopefully. |

OMG its Stew First BOOGERTRON then Pilgram why you guys show up late to the party... game is dead |

I was going to make a similar comment to this. I think its funny that most of these guys that say the gun play is bad are just not willing to adapt to a new system/game. I do not have a problem hitting anyone with my guns, but I have been playing the game for a solid year now. With each new update(every 3 to 6 months) there are tweaks to the gun play. So I mess around with my options until I find that golden spot again. It brings me back to one thing. People like to complain, and in life you are more likely to hear someone complain about something then compliment it. It is sad really when you think about it.

The gunplay is bad though. I've been playing this game much longer than most of the community. The gunplay is bad there isn't a better word to describe it. Anyways english isn't the OP's first language. |

The biggest problem is that DUST 514 is not FUN.
While I know there are problems with specific game functions (hit detection primarily), all of these problems pale in comparison to the fact that Dust 514 is just not fun. The core of the core game, shooting space people, just isn't fun, killing an enemy doesn't leave me satisfied, it just leaves me with a feeling of "wow, that sure was annoying". Taking points on the map isn't fun, it's just annoying. Wow I sure am glad I just fought that guy for 3 minutes hitting mostly air, just so one of his pals can spawn in and kill me with an invisible militia grenade. CCP this is the real danger you have with Dust 514, no matter how deeply integrated it is into EVE and how much winning and losing battles means to the EVE universe, no one will continue to play this game if one dude shooting another dude is not FUN.
Other than desperately needing to make DUST 514 FUN in terms of shooting a space merc in the face, another important core piece of an FPS that makes it FUN is the use of strategy. When there are tiered objectives within a match not only do you have to out-gun your opponent, but you also have to out-think your opponent, it is very satisfying to out strategize your opponent and use teamwork to accomplish objectives.
With the current POS game mode in DUST 514 all people do is run around in a big circle and chase each other like kids playing with water guns. There is no strategy involved, the points that are held are meaningless and hold absolutely no strategic value. It is FUN when you have to understand what your opponent is thinking and see what they are trying to accomplish and react to match conditions in real-time. None of these elements are present in "Skirmish POS", some did exist in Skirmish 1.0. |

I agree. The gunplay isn't just "different" its messed up and wierd. I don't know exactly what it is but the general cntrols and gunplay just feel off to me and make me not want to play the game.
BF3, CoD, PS2, MAG, CS:S all have different feeling aiming and gunplay, but they feel natural and good. DUST feels broke compared to those.
Its not lone wolfing either. I try to play with my team but I still feel frusturated and bored by the unimaginitive gameplay. Skirmish 2.0 is a terrible game mode. No imagination, no clever gameplay hook. Just a boring run in a circle and hack mode. Ambush is TDM so meh, its ok.
DUST is just really really boring overall. Clunky FPS, combined with boring game modes makes a "bad" game. There are some who might put up with it but many like me who will not.
There needs to be more interesting gameplay hooks like installation |

It sad to say but this game will fail only because of that while it as so much potential .. Wait, you aren't the same terrible player that's been making all those asinine threads on the Planetside 2 forums for ages now, are you? Just in case you are, I feel obliged to comment that when the NC MAX's Scattershot Cannon, which is a triple-barreled semi-auto arm-mounted shotgun that the thing can dual-wield was capable of firing as fast as you could mash the button and had far too many rounds per magazine back in the Tech Test, this guy was on the forums constantly asserting that it was a balanced weapon. When every single battle in Planetside 2 ended in the New Conglomerate coming in in "SCATMAXes" and destroying anyone dumb enough to play another faction until each server's continent map was covered in blue hexes, this guy was defending that asset as balanced, and that other players just needed to play better.
WOW man whats is this rant about the Planetside 2 balance ?
Is this as anything to do with how dust514 gameplay and gunplay feel ?
man take your pills and go somewhere elses
No matters X or Y balance issue the basic gunsplay mechanics in Ps2 , Halo , BF , killzone , Cod , etc.. Feel great for the most part
DUST514 GUNPLAY GAMEPLAY CARECTER MOOVEMENTS SUCK , iam a experienced PC , Xbox360 , PS3 players |
