While the conectivity between dust and eve making one big wold alive is just amasing ...
But the gameplay , gunplay , caracter moovement , controles , etc.. everything on the gameplay aspect Suck badly , i can even describe how much a let down this game is to me ....
Everything feel wrong for a FPS game ,
I cant consider this a competitive shooter , i cant enjoy this game because of those awefull first person mechanics , the gameplay is simply BAD
take a game like planetside 2 , the gameplay is quiet enjoyable even if it need a little polish here and there the gunplay m,echanics are good and enjoyable
Take a game like killzone 2 , even if it was little slugish the pace was great with it ,
Take battlefield , take even COD the gunplay feel right in some ways no matter if we like or dislike the surounding of those game
DUST514 is a major failure , in term of Gunplay i dont know who is responsible for this but fired those peoples and bring some experienced folks who know how to make a good fps ,
Even section 8 ( made with unreal engine ) was a way better game and as a much more enjoyable gunplay then Dust 514
make the caracter moovement more fluid , correct the gunplay and controles weirdness
It sad to say but this game will fail only because of that while it as so much potential .. OMG its Stew First BOOGERTRON then Pilgram why you guys show up late to the party... game is dead

When I look at the gameplay of Dust, I always remember how this game is geared heavily toward teamwork and not multiple instances of player vs player combat occurring randomly across the battlefield. Holding down one position, using the combined efforts of a squad and your other teammates rather then roaming solo, from place to place, looking for the next kill is most often, though not always, the better approach to combat.
The problem with this is that the game modes for holding down one position only exist in Domination. The other game modes, and low player count, makes for a roving squad type of gameplay.
This game needs the old Skirmish back, where there was only one MCC in the sky,and one team attacked and the other defended.Once we get this back,we will see better tactics across the board.
The game also needs more players per map.Sorry, but anything under 32v32 is just too small, especially for maps this large.
Oh,and BTW,stew has been a Dust hater from day one when he was trolling on the MAG forums about how bad this game is,and how great Planetside 2 was going to be.Not saying that I don't agree with any of his points,it's just that I'll never understand why people put so much effort into bashing something and wanting to see it fail.I can understand if you are complaining in and effort to help make the game better, but this definitely is not the case with stew. |

In both versions of Ambush and then of course Skirmish taking then holding a position can often be better tactically when aiming to win. In Ambush it depends a lot on the map, but with Skirmish taking points and holding them is often the better course of action considering NULL cannons continue to fire on your MCC until the virus is done uploading to retake them. However because winning the match doesn't give more rewards, and staying alive is only part of the equation for calculating rewards. Holding a position, when looked at from a ISK gain prospective, is going to be less rewarding if the action is not close to your position. Given such, and the high cost of top end gear vs the low or even negative return on ISK without a high kill count, or in the case of support roles like Logisitics, players to support. It's easy to see why moving position, especially in PUGs is more rewarding.
Keep in mind I never played during the Beta, open or closed. However I can see how a Skirmish mode with only one MCC could also be viewed in a negative light. If they only way for the group controlling the MCC to win is to deplete the clones of the other side, but said other side has the option of destorying the MCC and depleting clones the field is not even from the start.
I think the player count should be increased, to support larger battles, though I feel it needs to be a number divisible by 6, because that is the max players in a squad. However I personally think the number of players should be different depending on the game mode. Ambush (which I also think should have smaller maps) would be fine with 18 vs 18. The other modes could be 24 or 30, because they are both modes which better support having a larger map to play on. Though I can also see downsides to having the player limit being larger. In the instance of PC, it means that more players are needed, and well we all have a life of some sort outside of Dust and/or Eve. |

In no order of importance, the three things that really kill gunplay- the gun model is directly in the center of your screen. nobody shoots any gun against their sternum ever. It will be on one shoulder or the other based on your dominant side. Speaking of, it would be cool to choose to be a lefty or a righty. but that might be asking a lot at this point. lolz. Secondly, there is extreme lag in responsiveness to pressing a button to perform an action. And sometimes, the action doesn't happen at all. This game can't even be a full release until they get that squared away. I believe hit detection is also related to this issue. Lag is bad, and this **** is chock full of lag. And finally, much like the placement of the gun in your POV, using a bumper instead of a trigger button is ridiculous. I've been asking them to at least put up a mapping where you can you know, use the TRIGGER BUTTON as a trigger? Did they? nope. But they did at least put up a few non-different mapping selections. Thanks for listening guys!
oh and one more thing, the FOV. It is so small, and so flippantly engineered we essentially play with the sight of someone with no peripheral vision.

Many people have been saying that the gameplay and gunplay feels clunky and ruins the experience. But from Chromosome to Uprising....it just got worse. I feel as if CCP only has a hard on for the rpg side but is neglecting the fps side.
I am not an insider in the game development industry...but I'm wondering is it really that hard to fix this problem? I can understand if this was uncharted territory but so many games have already laid the blueprint. And from what I understand, there are MAG & BF3 developers on dust's staff. Even if they suck..they must have some insight...they must see that there is something wrong here.
This needs to take priority
I know there is actually BF devs but no BF3 ones and i dont think those guys was working on modern gunplay mechanics , guns feel gunplay gameplay and caracter moovement is always whats make a game enjoyable or not from a gameplay perpective
a game can suck for 2 main reason , core gameplay broken , or the sunrounding is unapealing , Dust get it rigth on the surounding part but compleatly screw up the core mechanics so DUST is a colosal failure so far Sadly because CCP is such a great company |
