How's everyone feel about this matchup? DUST has a dedicated team, I'd say the same about Bungie. Bungie has a HUGE level of expertise over DUST's team on shooters. Both have customization while Destiny seems to have the upper hand with customizable appearance vehicles and 3rd person player view in safe zones (to admire your custom armor and colors). I love that Destiny has space flight and combat, and that it's action oriented, not click click internal dice roll blah blah blah.
Through the breakdown and when you consider the stunning graphics Destiny is showing I'm leaning more towards it. More experienced team for that genre, more customization, more features (including PvE). DUST is fun and all but with games like that coming this holiday season they'll really have to bring their game up a notch or they'll be offering low quality graphics, feature lacking versions of new games designed for a beast of a console.
So here's hoping DUST can pick it up to at least match the upcoming titles since persistant world shooters seems to be the new big thing. |

I've played all of Bungies other FPS and every single one of them is a AAAA title. They blow just about everything else out of existence. Destiny is going to be another AAAA title from Bungie and fierce competition for all shooters as it is no longer an Xbox exclusive. Also I'm betting on it being a PS4/next Xbox release title.

Dust 514 exists and i can play it so it wins.
Bungie is a great game maker marathon, Myth, Oni, and of course halo...and i suspect Destiny will be a great game.
That said the Destiny universe does not have ships i can board and kill everyone in them...at least as far as I can tell....Dust the game you can;t do that either but at least the universe could allow for it.
Also i like Dust's more hard Sci fi universe which does not have magic (Destiny look like it will) and no stupid alien races. |

When Destiny comes out, it's probably going to be better than Dust, but in the long run, if CCP updates the game with more contents and more expansions for the next 10 years or so, like EVE, it's going to last longer than Destiny. |

FYI Halo is older then EvE and Bungie is older then CCP.
Repeating that 10 year BS really does not cut the mustard. |

IGÇÖm very intrigued by Destiny and might try it when it comes out. It will be released for the PS3, so I can try it out and decide if itGÇÖs worth playing. The only thing that concerns me about Destiny is their deal with Activision. Destiny will definitely be Dust 514GÇÖs biggest rival and could potentially crush Dust considering how small its audience is. Dust has been lucky with its lack of competition, but Destiny will offer players a real alternative. |

How is it a different type of game? Both are multiplayer FPS games. Destiny just takes it a dozen steps further with a persistant world, space flight and combat, unique classes/abilities rather than a handful of gun types. Plus customizable vehicle appearances. Unless there's something I'm not seeing Destiny appears to have all the features of DUST plus a lot more, from a company with a MASSIVE shooter background which IMO is what puts DUST behind. The extremely limited amount of content they have seems to be a rollercoaster of nerfs and buffs with little balance.
Totally not bashing DUST at all. I love my sci-fi and the more offerings there is the better, it just seems a bit lacking for the day and age it's in. |

You played Pathways into Darkness and Marathon? I have been playing FPS since the 90s. I am 34 years old and other than racing games FPS are my favorite type of game. As it stands Bungie is top of it's class for making FPS. This cannot be denied.

Destiny looks promising based off the creators of the game, the concept arts (make almost every game look good), and the little bit of ideas for the game shared to the public.
No way to compare until I actually see gameplay or hear more about the gameplay mechanics and how the game is going to function. Then you have to judge the game based off it's system and where Dust is then.
For all I know Destiny is going to give you a gun to go shoot bunnies on different planets. The concept art sure makes it look exciting but I'm sure this gameplay will be very uneventful. |

People used to say bioware and gearbox could not make a bad/nothing special game. Then bioware made That star wars MMO that although not bad was nothing special and gearbox made/sold Aliens colonial marine.
There is always the potential for failure.
They could make ****** servers or make it P2W or a grindfest or release basic game modes but outside of the campaign offer nothing special. Limited amount of enemy to fight (all that animating and HQ models takes time) Could end up fighting a few enemys of the same model but dif colors. They could have crappy AI boring missions or anything else.
They could have management shifts now that they have grown as a company.
Who knows. Never buy a car before its built. Same should always apply to video games.

Starts 1 minute in. Destiny Press + Gameplay It's YouTube 'HD', so low res for everyone in the real world. Gives you a good idea though. Play on 480p and you get DUST's current graphics pretty much.
I should add, look into interviews. PvP is a HUGE portion of Destiny. |

Thanks, I actually clicked that link before you gave it and skimmed through it skipping the 1 min of gameplay. It's still hardly anything, showing a character walk or reload doesn't tell me how the gameplay will be. You see a guy fire about one time which still doesn't show anything. |

True, but it does give a very good view of movement animations and environment detail which is breathtaking in my opinion. I don't have a ton of complaints about DUST, but the incredibly simple flat, landscapes with no detail that look straight out of a 10 year old game annoy the hell out of me. |
