Potentially. Send in a petition about it. If you can prove the EVE account is yours, the GMs might be able to help you. |

Well if you still can logg into that it's account management site, then you could use Hour for PLEX, feature and biomass your charachter. (Altho I'm not certain IF biomassing procedure completes, since the Hours for PLEX only lasts few hours and biomassing takes longer.)
IF that works then after that biomassing timer has ticked you can use that same name on DUST, but so can any one else.
Or you coud just perition from your EVE char and hope for the best. |

Biomassing a character doesn't clear them from the namespace. They are put in an invisible corp named Doomheim. |

But you can still use their name. Characters in that corp have a special exception and, I'm assuming, just get renamed to "Caldari Citizen 12345678" when that happens. They get moved instead of outright deleted to make it simpler for a GM to hit the 'Undo' button. |

Another great NOOB question: today I was checking the site and there is no character management... Should I purchase the Steam version to do that Biomass thing? (never heard about that...) |

Buying the Steam version will create a new account. You can not use it to reactivate an old account. |

Oh god... I wanted really to have it in my steam list... Can't I purchase it and log in with my old account? Paying a new Subscription for it? |

The client is free no matter how you get it, and isn't bound to any account. Buying it through Steam is just another way to pay for an account activation.
If you must have the client as a SteamApp just download the Demo version and log in as normal (ignore the new account trial key you get). I don't like this because it buries the install inside the Steam installation directory which makes managing the test server install for Sisi annoying. |

I had a trial account from back in 2010 i went through the process using email for deleting the trial name to use in DUST 514.
unfortunately I wasn't quick enough, some eve player stole the name I used.
now I'll most likely never be able to use it.
the only way I think I'd be able to use it is if I payed the person ISK to rename themselves so I could make a new merc under my originaly used name.

can you please help me taking the same route? how and who I must contact to have my old trial deleted for the correct name under DUST?
thanks |

I'm afraid that we are unable to offer cosmetic character name changes for players at this time.
While we have considered offering character renaming as a service we may offer in future, this would need to be supported by a name history feature that is viewable to players in both games in order to ensure players can't hide from their old identity. With this in mind we have no immediate plans to offer this service, but we will be sure to discuss this with the community before moving forward. |

Surely character name isn't the primary key, right? So tracking a person after a name change would be as simple as looking in your contact list or sent/received messages. They'd still be there, but under a different name. |

All characters could have a real name and a nickname; by default the nickname is the real name, but you can change it. In most situations the game(s) display the nickname, but the real name is always available in the character info. |
