Well we are just two now, but this news is dissapointing for the console gamer. Seems to me this is supposed to be a big draw of the game. If one, two, or four people cannot get together and form a small corp and play in this sandbox, I think it's going to become a sandbox full of only a few thousand EVE players. And that just won't cut the mustard in the console world. I think this game should have stayed on the PC. Planetary conquest has been designed from the ground up for organizations much larger than one, two, or four people. While yes this is supposed to be a big draw to DUST it is not the only one and not every single feature can be made to suit everyone. Our focus right now is on getting the battles to be bigger, not smaller.
Being in an NPC corp I can actually agree with this FoxFour. Dust has to be "manufactured" for large scale battles, unlike EvE. So I think you guys are going in the right direction here. If players want to be a part of the large scale, then they are going to have to join large corps, increase the size of their corps, or create a corp and grow it.
I see no reason for CCP to cater to small corps, they can do IBs or support larger corps in PC or join an alliance. |

There are plenty of corps with mature players, you just haven't looked hard enough.
Also, it's not wise to talk about maturity level with a corp name like yours. |

Hi there.
I'm glad you feel so incensed about not being able to hold a district by yourself (or, well, two of you) against the might of the universe.
Let's put this in economic terms. You set up a business in a niche market, say, Brazilian jewellery, in London. Let's say that you're the first business to do so, and at first, you're wildly successful. However, you insist that only you and a couple of close friends maintain the business, as to keep it small and keep everyone close. Would you then complain about any competition coming in and taking over the market for Brazilian jewellery, and then underpricing you out of the market? No, you wouldn't, simply because that's good business.
Same thing here. A two person corp just doesn't hold the financial firepower that a 16-person corp has, or even the manpower.
Also, you must not be very experienced in regards to FPS's, as most competitive FPS clans have upwards of ten people, at the very minimum. BF3 and MAG clans (at the risk of sounding like an idiot, having never played either) would have upwards of 50 and 100 players respectively, due to inactivity, differing timezones, etc.
As previously stated by CCP, highsec is meant more for casual gamers such as yourself, who don't want to get involved in running with a large corp, who don't want to have to constantly maintain a planet.
To be honest, I'm surprised that you're complaining about this without fully knowing the mechanics. Anyone with a university degree should be able to do even a little bit of research into what they're talking about instead of complaining without a clue of CCP's intentions, or the gaming world at large. |

Yes.
I have started a request thread to allow smaller corps to INITIATE Factional Warfare battles instead of just waiting for them to spawn:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=77133&find=unread
This would enable a corp like yours to decided when and where you want to play FW. |

I think once you unglitch them, you will be able to camp on a node in the map, talk to your FW friends in Eve to run a few plexes which then hopefully spawns a sight where you'd like one. Curious if they are working any better? |

If either of you had actually looked into the game at all, instead of just picking up and playing, you would have realised everything that's been said in this thread already.
As pointed out by your corpmate, the "man-child" mentality exists, but not only within the men on this forum. To be honest, the number of 12 year olds playing this game will be next to nothing, seeing as this game requires an attention span lasting longer than a couple of hours, as well as some decent mental capabilities and foresight, simply due to the SP system and metagame involved.
Any corp you happen to join will be mature, helpful and active. Any less and they're doomed to failure. |

Honestly I would encourage this argument to cease immediately and hope that the thread is locked due to trolling. The simple fact is that:
A. This game was designed with a target audience and set game play in mind which, needless to say, doesn't appeal to everyone. I can only surmise that the OP either does in fact like this game and hopes that this thread will force CCP's hand into making PC a small group game feature, or doesn't care and just wants to troll replies.
B. You won't win. Not today. Not any day.
To the OP: Before you start the hate train on me I want to point out that I do understand. Despite the fact that I'm in a rather large corp I typically find myself logging in and just running ambush solo. This is mostly due to a personal preference. I don't mind working in a group, but not 24/7. As an Eve player I know that one thing remains a like fashion: whether you choose to play alone or with others there's always something to do so you're never left without. We're on day one of the release which is kind of nice considering how many games seem frozen in infinite beta these days. That alone tells us that CCP is working adamantly to secure a future for this game. I'd recommend just being patient. Even if you stop playing for a year while more content to your liking is released, your character will continue to earn SP. There aren't many places you can go with a deal that nice especially in this genre. Whatever your choice, best of luck to you and your comrade. Happy hunting.

There is nothing keeping you from advancing. You can still gain SP and ISK through regular battles, or FW battles. Also, one could argue that growing your corp and community is in and of itself a form or advancement and growth.
Could you please elaborate on why you believe that you and one other person should reap as many rewards as those of us that take the time and effort to organize and run large groups of people in a coordinated fashion? |

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to get at. This was originally a post about how you couldn't get PC to work, and when the developers informed you of your mistake, you decided to attack this game because you feel it is geared towards PC gamers.
I'm a console gamer through and through, and DUST is still one of my favorite games because of the corporation I'm in.
You're attacking CCP for gearing PC towards larger corporations, but I ask you: how does it make any sort of sense that a small corporation (two-woman corp) could hold an interstellar empire? Regardless of how good a player you are, 2 people can't beat a coordinated 16-man team of enemies when they come knocking on your door.
How is that unfair? Why would CCP want corporations unable to field full teams to defend their borders participating in PC?
As has been suggested already, smaller corporations can feel free to run headlong into FW, and enact change in the map that way. It's not about a PC gaming crowd vs. a Console gaming crowd, it's about knowing the weaknesses of your corporation. No, I am not claiming having two women in a corp together makes it a bad corp, I'm saying you shouldn't have your hearts set on owning territory. Zerg corps like PRO will be able to take your stuff over through sheer numbers, and that's fine! That makes sense!
EDIT: As for the forum mentality, I agree that people can be immature on occasion, but that's still no reason to be mad at CCP. Every day their GMs ban people and lock immature threads in order to make the forums a better place for us normal, well adjusted users. Don't assume they have no idea what they're doing, they have 8 years of experience with EVE players behind them when it comes to unruly forumites. |
