Im a tanker. i used to hit my sp cap in a couple days. Now I can't be bothered to join a match because I don't have fun anymore.
CCP Blam! comes off as a giant troll to me. He explained extremely vaguely , that by reducing vehicle PG, we would somehow be able to deploy a greater variety of fits. I've tried a variety of fits. They were all trash because none of them fit my play style. I don't appreciate his failure to explain why this was necessary. Dropsuits have a skill that increases suit PG by 5% per level, why wasn't the dtopsuit skill changed as well?
I used to use a sica with two militia shield extenders and a shield amp, and two power expansion units and a proto turret of my choice. I cant anymore and it's been the most disheartening thing about this game for me. Add in all of the control issues to this and Im stuck feeling that while Uprising improved some things, I would've been happier if they had just left everything alone with the tanks.
I dont call in my tanks anymore because I cant even defend myself or attack anything that isnt on the ground. Dropships literally sit on my tank and i cant do anything unless i move into a gunner seat and risk my tank being hijacked by someone on my team.
The way you guys at CCP handle things looks like you just ignore us. We ask for the color red and you give us the color blue. It's not right. Nobody asked for a increase to vehicle HP. We asked you to change back our vehicle engineering skill to a 5% increase to PG per level. Im seeing a whole of stuff being "fixed" that nobody said was broken, while stuff we tell you is broken goes unfixed.
You cant change skills because you want to balance things for content that doesnt even exist yet. |

Actually when you think about it, it was the best point to change it. Better to do it in a major skills shake up at the start of the build, when everyone has to put new fits together and start the whole balancing cycle again, then to do it halfway through, mess up a load of fits, and render all the vehicle fitting feedback before that suspect. |

Of course they can, and they did. I'm sorry you don't like your tank anymore with one perfect exact fit. It would probably be better for you to take some time off, forget what your fit was and come back fresh with the new fits. I find it helps soften the blow of the nerf bat. |

if people would spend a bit of money on things and try all basic peices first before the insta-leap into proto you might be able to find a set up to work on. so you would then know what it would take to slowly work up to Adv then full Proto in a piecemeal manner.
yeah, i know we got a respec, and a whole pile of money, but still gotta think these things through a bit.... maybe it's not all about the gun when setting up a tank now, maybe it is the modules |

I can barely fit a 180mm (made for HAV's) plate, heavy rep (made for HAV's) and a Large blaster (made for Gallente HAV's). Actually, I can't do that; it's impossible. I have to put on PG modules to do it. PG skill needs reverting back to it's old bonus. |

sigh.... maybe put on the 120 instead, since they are a bit less intensive, even though you lose some armor.
or, maybe use a higher grade tank? that's about my only suggestion, because fitting all the best on a Standard tank doesnt work, and is only marginal on ADV |

Those are for long range and Medium vehicles. Plus, half is a lot. We tankers need that HP, since we accelerate like a snail. |

then you're gonna need to figure something out, because stacking on piles of extra plating is what kills your speed, even though most of the time they are necessary, i do about t he same with my suit, but i go light on the plates for the sake of keeping a bit of mobility.
i get the gist about you liking being the heaviesst thing on the ground, but i dont think you should be invincible either. maybe try a low grade Hardener module to supplement your defence? either passive or active, but something to just plain reduce the damage you take, it might help with some of the issues |

used to fly around Dropships, i rather kept it light, mobile, and hard to take down due to that, i only used one sheild hardener, could take 4 FG shots before i dropped.
i kept a mobile CRU, and i'm about to start working modestly on DS again.
and i have seen a few decent tankers in my Corp that dont bother with the active hardeners, and rip other tanks that are using those active ones to shreds.
please dont assume i havent tried a few things. didn't like tanks, LAVs are too common, and i dont see enough Dropships most of the time.
honestly if i had a say about it tanks and dropships would get 5% more armor/sheilds, and maybe give tanks a new small turret configuration to try out.
but if your survivability is an issue, then throw on more defensive things, and leave your turrets as the last focus |

You guys found a serious tanker in the last week? Amazing... Anyways, the days of DS's tanking more than 2 FG shots is long gone. I can 1-shot any DS. Like I said, PG skill needs to revert, New skills to decrease ammount of CPU/PG ( which ever's more intensive. That should be the case with everything that requires it. Even dropsuits need this. Helps people specialize better, they'll want to stay on one type of fit for awhile to make it the best possible fit. |

I used to have a militia fit sica for pubs, and standard n proto for serious stuff. Can't use any of those fits now. Fit my tanks as general purpose battle tanks. Balanced for defense, mobility and firepower.
I can only fit a tank for one of those 3 points. I used PG modules before in chromosome to do it. 5% boost to PG doesn't allow for any fitting improvement over someone without any skills at all.

definately agreed on that bit... hell, on the new PG/CPU fits, a max engineering set up with 5% per rank would be a huge boon to any vehicle user, and give something close, or maybe more than the old Chromosome base lines. because its ridiculous how much the suits can jump in PG/cpu, but tanks and DS cant boost theirs now.
honestly, i would like to see the boosts implemented some time, and the removal of Hacked AV grenades will eventually help with the tank situation, because those things are stupid powerful...
if you get a chance, send a mail to Concept Proof, he's a tanker in my Corp, you and him might be able to come up with something better some time, just....dont get all angry about it, cause getting angry really doesnt help with the flow of ideas

We honestly took a huge leap backwards with the PG nerf. It feels like they didn't want to release the game to the public with tanks being like they were. Apparently, cloning COD = success for some people.
The problem I think people had with our tanks was that we know what we're doing. We know what to attack, when to attack, when to fall back, and when you know what you're doing, we become a huge force multiplier. We all know that we're not all powerful. We have our limitations, but for those that don't know anything about tanks, they feel tanks are under powered in terms of defense. We aren't AV weapons do exactly what they're supposed to and that's to wreck us. The only AV weapon that seams severely out of place are some of those grenades.
Nerfing the PG on vehicles is like telling me I cant drive my car with wheels on it. what good is it without what we need? They needed to curb the vehicles so the game would appeal to more casual players, but they clearly don't know how to do that. They obviously can't nerf player skill, so they crippled our vehicles (what appears to me) to buy them time to think of something.
If they need time fix vehicles, then I say they give us all, temporarily, BP's of all standard vehicles, while they work on them. They should still requires skills, but it lets us play with them without the frustration of losing them in their crippled states.0
We should get free tanks while CCP collects their data, and they can modify the stats of the tanks until they find the balance theyre looking for. After they figure things out, they can remove the BP's from our inventories.

I was a bit mystified about this decision also. I found that I wasn't able to effectively armour tank my LAV any more. Then again, I also found that any enemy LAV I met on the field took two swarm launcher salvos to take out, whereas one used to be almost always enough. Presumably this is due to the massive HP boost we've received, so I guess we don't have it so bad, we just have a bunch of low slots feeling under-valued.
The situation seems very different for HAVs. These must be a nightmare to balance, and create that "oh god a tank!" reaction among players without creating the "oh great, a tank, (yawn) every one else may as well disconnect" reaction.
I guess that after hitting a tank with 3 full magazines from a swarm launcher, it was only right for it to be destroyed, I'm just so used to seeing that level of firepower bounce off - and I guess the tank commander was as well, or he'd have retreated to recover... |

i dont think it should take 3 full mags of a swarm to kill my tank but i dont think 3 AV grenades that costed a player 2k isk should destroy it(thank god they arent in the market anymore but many players stocked up by the hundreds or thousands) i dont mind AV weapons in general but i think if im risking big bringing out my crazy expensive tank the AV'ers should be risking a pretty penny too
as far as BPO tanks i dont see a problem with it as long as its just the frame the turrets and armor/shield mods are where the price tag comes from anyways id be saving 200k isk on my 1.4m tank with a BPO madrugar even my cheaper tanks would still keep me from profiting in a match if it blew up even my tank with a standard stabilized blaster costs me like 600k to 700k |
