I wonder if everyone who visits and posts on the forums does not play one day what the player count would be? |

Numbers are staying fairly consistent from what I've seen and heard, seems to be varying between 2000-5000 from what I've seen, and that's over the course of a whole day. We're relatively consistent in player count, though rather low in numbers. |

I really had high hopes about this game... too bad there isnt anything good to say about it anymore. Went to work depressed cause you guys ruined the only FPS i enjoyed playing since the original Unreal Tournament back in 1999. |

When eve started it had 3000 at peak time. A year later 8000.
The more ccp added/fixed the better it got.
Dust 514 has several advantages over eve:
Its free to play. Your skill points keep ticking up even after huge amounts non-particpation. Dust 514 has learned from eve mistakes.
Right now Dusts biggest problem is the failure to manage verisimilitude. (we can see the scaffolding; sometimes abstractly, but yes it is evident)
A big word they threw around the fanfest but without any vercity evident in the present iteration of the game.

The heat will turn up when "district rush" starts... Untill then we bettrr test out as many bugs as possible for launch date. We are Beta testers, aren't we? And this is not The Game of DUST514 yet. This is still officially in Beta. Though the beta - work in progress tab is missing... |

game has been free for months now. Adding "Full Release" wont do anything....
Thats not a lot of players. Free to play games like World of Tanks on PC have a constant data base of players of 20 000 and at peak times of 40 000 and its only been out for 2 years.
I know I know, PC vs console. But there is many games out there with bigger player bases.
Most of the players I have played with (that dont use the forums) that I still game with on different games have abandonned the game and given up.
Im actually surprised CCP is still dumping money in it. I feel there is some sort of contract between them and Sony the same way Sega and Gearbox were with Alien Colonial Marines. |

Now, I'm sure you guys can (and have) pointed out many problems with it, but here's one that I see. It has no advertising. People dont know about it, they have no way of knowing its here, virtally the only way is word of mouth, and thats unreliable at best. The way I see it, they need to let people know it's here, and then retain them. |

REALLY low on player count, feels like closed beta numbers yeah i'll agree with that, on the plus side increases the chance we'll run into each other, on the downside it shows that dust has a terrible retention rate, we really need some form of matchmaking system for new players, like the training grounf(whatever its called) in COD where you go up against other low level players. |

If true then Sony needs to boost that Marketing budget and be on CCP to make the game much more accessible (I know I know). |

that would be perfect. at this point, new players are going up against people with upwards of 10-15 mill SP. no matter how good they are, they are going to get stomped

iv found that people simple dont release dust is a thing, its like a fabled thing, they know its around but they not tried it or just thought its closed beta rumour, i think the full release will bring in players just because its a "release".
also a thats 3000+ players stable though-out the day sure its not CoD numbers but more than enough to give an enjoyable and a strong community if the game ever does become huge it will us vets that hold all the cards beucase made the contacts and we all know each a sort of shadow group in the background just like in eve :P |

You really need to get the game brought up to high standards before you start advertising.
It's easy to attract new people, it's much harder to re-attract people who tried and were not satisfied. |

Experience with beta's here...
You have to take these numbers with a grain of salt. As far as advertising goes they have said later when they have more of the "OH MY" features implemented.
MAG was terrible beta and post release, 2.0 patch made it playable and addressed a lot of issues.... It was one of the best FPS games in Sony's history ( still has an active player base even though the developer was shut down!) along side Socom from ps2, all the ps3 variants for socom were crap.
If they fix the little things people will play it..
Shoot even tycoon game players will love it when they implement the in game economy and you can buy/sell/trade goods for ISK, etc. |

The game hasnt really beeing avdertised. Nor got it a good review. But when it hits comercial release you will see adverts and reviews on gaming sites/magazines etc. The thing is Dust hasnt beeing advertised properly. The only time where it was advertised was on the PSN store for like 1-2 weeks. Another thing is people dont like betas cause they are affraid to loose stuff. This game will grow sooner or later. And if the game wouldnt be a success so far then CCP wouldnt had removed UVT's. Give it time, proper ads, better matchmaking and you will see a drastic increase of numbers. |

Look at eve online, it has 500,000 registered accounts and has less than 100,000 players each day but the game is still a success and still profitable for ccp. |

Its not about how many peak it will have on release, its about how many players stick with the game. Thats how the f2p games makes money. With continuous dedicated playerbase. With the current state of the game, I don't see a lot of people sticking around for long... |

ccp is also adding pve mode to this game that could help new players before they start doing pvp. Drone infestation is the only pve thing I know. |

You've got that backwards. The beta was great and as the game went on it turned to ****.
But back on topic, this is basically what I've been saying for months. This game has in no way, shape, or form a sustainable player count. It might peak a little after the 14th, but after that with the massive barrier of entry, the player count will only go down. |
