People seem confused about how the new system will work so i'll explain it here
You will train a base dropsuit skill that will give you access to racial light, medium, and heavy dropsuit skills.
After picking one, in this case Amarr medium, and you train it to level 5 you will then be given access to new skills. Amarr logistics, and Amarr assault.
So instead of constantly becoming harder and harder to kill, you will eventually reach a plateau and will have to specialize somehow |

I wonder how useful the unspecialized basic suits will be compared to the specialized ones like the assault.
EDIT: I know the logi has a special yellow coloring, does the basic, or any specialized role have any distinctive coloring as well? |

So, you will be able to get Logi suits only after L5 in medium frame suits? |

From how I heard in in the keynote, I thought it was you level up the Dropsuit skill until you get access to the Light, Medium, and Heavy dropsuit skills. You then level up the Light, Medium, or Heavy dropsuit skill until you reach the specialization suit you want.
So if you wanted an Amarr Logistics suit it would be, Dropsuit Lv X ---> Medium Frame Lv Y ---> Amarr Logistics If at that point you decided you wanted to switch to Gallente Assault, you'd only have to level up the Gallente Assault skill since the Dropsuit and Medium Frame skills overlap. |

Same here i hope they'll be coming up with separate design-¦s for assault and logistics. One of the most important way to telling what to use on an enemy was to actually being able to see what they use. When it comes to the skill training well gotta be fun more specialization :) |

I'm guessing the art department is the bottleneck. We don't even have all the basic frame sizes yet.

That being said, once the important stuff is done a while down the line, there is no reason that CCP wont create models for each specialisation. |

Baby steps.
I'm just curious when we'll have all racial variants for suits. I'm a little confused on that since they didn't seem to have actual models for most of the new suits. Devblogs need to happen, but I understand the hold up.

Just checked the Sisi Magic Crystal Ball and to be clear there are racial frame skills:
Dropsuit --> Racial Medium Frame --> Racial Logistics

thats just it. im fine waiting, do it after the heavy suits for all I care. Just dont combine logis and assaults, just seems wrong. was really looking forward to seeing caldari, amarr and gallente logis, and minmatar and amarr assault. CCPs art team is one of their strong points. |

Not sure how I like this, but I'll deal with it.
Also sounds like it's going to take quite a bit more than 2.4 million SP to get prototypes. |

No problem.
I'm hoping the Tech 2 suits aren't 8x skills and the total SP to prototype speciality suit is about the same. The 8x skill seems extremely high for a suit especially when compared to the giant spaceships our pilot brothers and sisters fly.

logis look cool because they have all kinds of belts and equipment. was really anxious to see how the other races version of it.
I ultimately agree, because as you say, variety is good, but in the immediate future I think it's more important to push out a suit model for each frame size for each race. As time goes on they can stream in variants.
I just want to know when exactly we're getting full racial representation. Is it on the 6th, the 14th, or some later date? |

Everyone should figure that the suit skill tree may be very similar in structure and attenuation as that of the pilot's skill tree for the ships in EVE. A person skills up the command skill first which will unlock the different size suits (depending on the skill level of dropsuit command) then the size specific skilling (light, medium, heavy) and then the specialization (assault, scout, logi, sentinel).
The first choice comes in size, then race, then role specialization.
At least that is what I gathered from the keynote.
As for the different colors for the suits, it seemed from the keynote that the different roles along with the different tech level of the dropsuit will designate the color scheme of the suit one gets. Again this is conjecture from the what CCP has given us. |

What about their big backpack type thing? Is a Caldari Logi going to look like a yellow Assault with a backpack?
That should at least affect their silhouette. |

The color changes are similar to the differences of T2 ships in EvE. It seems there will be value in recognizing the suit variant simply by its frame and color scheme.
Also to be clear light and heavy will work the same way
Dropsuit -> racial light -> Scout, pilot
Dropsuit -> Racial Heavy -> Sentinel, commando |

As far as the changes to heavies go it seems that the Sentinel would be just that. A dropsuit that is a fantastic defender, but its lack of mobility makes it a bad choice for attacking. However the commando, with dual Light weapon slots and a faster movement speed would be the specialization for the more "active" heavy. I like the idea that all the proposed specializations at this point give every suit class 2 distinctly different options |

Hmm.
I don't like all the delays. I'm sure no one does.
The idea of refunding SP on May 6, going Live on May 14, and not releasing the other dropsuits for an unspecified amount of time seems like some sort of bottle-necking to me.
Why have everyone blow their SP advantage without actually making all the dropsuit options available? Was seriously looking forward to the Caldari Scout... Just guess this means I won't be doing much of anything come PC. Since I would have to wait for the suit I want to be released. |
