As far as the others trying to get the retention out, the best luck I have had is to run the pixel flipper on the Disney WoW dvd and not play on that tv till they lessen the brightness or come up with something to dull the white. Though I do like the HUD on this game my OCD wont allow me to play on that tv knowing it will be there. Its basically all gone and can only be noticed on a dull white back ground. As well, the black bars on the top and bottom aren't going to help the image retention either.
I have faith it will all be fixed in the end thanks for responding PHOTON.
Sir what is the Disney WoW? I would like to try that. |

Wow. I thought I was the only one with the problem. Glad I used the search feature.
Well, first off. I believe I may have burn in. I cannot get the huds to go away even after several months. I really wish CCP would do something, I really love playing but I cannot because of this issue. I have to play on the bedroom tv which is uncomfortable and if my wife is playing then I cannot play, unless I want to subject my beautiful plasma to the harsh conditions of the hud.
Even an option to remove it would be nice. The map and objective indicators are also a problem. We need to make it near transpearent or like I said, completely remove them. |

You shouldn't have to do this, if CCP had fixed the HUD issue , I've said before this should have been fixed long before now, it's a major issue as it can do perm damage to ur plasma TV , they have known about this for at least 4 months but still seem to ignore
Their game can and does cause image retention or screen burn ,so be warned as CCP don't seem to care about this, best way to play ATM is AFK .or just don't play at all |

You will notice a small one over night. I ran it for 30 hrs on the pixel flipper and never played dust on it again. It is very insignificant now.
Good luck and let's go ccp. We only ask cause we like the game. |

I'm running a 51 in. Samsung 3D capable plasma, and any IR I've had is very minimal. It does exist, but not to the extent I'm reading about here, and generally goes away in less than an hour after switching to video content. This TV is also hooked up to my gaming computer that runs the rest of the home systems. No windows OS burn in at all. Mostly gaming IR, like the Dust HUD. Got my vote for a transparency option as well.
Just out of curiosity, are you Panny guys running 3D plasma sets? I've read elsewhere that 3D plasma sets are less likely to have issues, even if you're running a standard HD refresh rate.. can't remember why that was stated, or where I found that article tho.
I have a newish Pani 3d plasma and there is some light retention after a steady hour, goes away fairly fast though. Back to back BF3 leaves a little burn to, but less than Dust. This Tv has a screen wipe and shuts itself off. Also movies dont burn that I've noticed. |

Bump
This really needs sorted , we not asking for the HUD to be completely resigned, we just asking for a simple change to it so it stops screen burn on our TV's , so why is it taken this long without a fix put in place ?

What chance has this game got when they can't even put a simple fix in place after 4 months, doesn't look good for the future , I know this game has other issues but to ignore this one just doesn't make sense, I'm sure I'm not the only one its stopping from playing this game, surely this should have been given urgent attention, as it can damage its players base's plasma s TV's
CCP knows this problems exists but still put off fixing it, they don't care if their game damages ours TVs ,so be warned if you play on plasma TV. |

It's live guys!!! I tested it. It is more transparent but, I think it needs more. Hard for me to tell though, as I already have a little IR already from before. By the way that WOW disc works awesome though, it did reduce it a large amount. |

Go OLED. Better than plasma and cost less to run. OLED has the same contrast ratio capabilities as plasma but the burn in is less severe. Electrical fatigue wears on all screens whom have element sized lights but the OLEDs show it less. More expensive but probably better life so it works out. Well, if you are paying to cool your room then they aren't that much cheaper.
DLPs offer great pictures but they use bulbs that need replacing. Gotta love those mirrors. |

I played a game last night , yes it's a bit better but still not good enough , so looks like I won't be playing again until fixed properly, sadly I won't be playing while it can still cause screen burn, but it's a start so hopefully they will make it more transparent and do it soon, otherwise I'll be gone.
Think we have waited long enough for this to be fixed properly

As mentioned above, a HUD Tranlucency option was added in 1.4 - this new option is best used in combination with the other video options to get optimal results.

I have made other adjustments to the settings, I've even turned brightness and contrast down on my tv to the extent that the picture is so dark making the game unplayable.
I still have slight retention from 2 months ago it is fading but slowly , the new tranlucency option is a start but still not good enough to stop this happing again, so please look at this again
It's taken 2 months for this to fade but not disappear completely , so I won't be playing until its fixed so this won't happen again

In all due respect sir. I have adjusted my ingame options as well as my tv options. I die A LOT because my screen is so dark I cannot see the enemy.
It would be nice if we had the option to make the HUD more transparent or......maybe an option to remove it all together. Or maybe even and option to change the colors of the HUD. <------That might be too much but at least let us have the option to remove it or make it near invisible. Kind of like the Aero on WIndows 7 taskbar.

Thanks for adding this. Not sure why these guys are still complaining, though. For anyone with a plasma TV, just whack the new transparency option up as far as you can while still being able to read the display and that's all you need. It won't magically remove any existing retention, but if it's a decent TV that'll fade away over time and other content. |

i have done this, and sadly its still not enough,i dont expect it to fix the existing retention that this game has already caused, but i do expect it to cut down the risk of it happening again but it doesnt i have tried, im complaining because i want to be able to play this game without doing damage to my expensive plasma TV which is a decent one btw, but the retention that has been caused over 2 months ago is still there, yes it is fading ,this is with running the scrolling bar over night on a lot of occasions, and also running slides, so if this is best we going to get then ,thank you CCP for the effort, but ill pass on this game. |
