I've connected the PS3 to my iMac for the time being, I just can't take it anymore.
This issue can seriously affect your display, be very careful; CCP please prioritize this. |

My .02 isk...
I'm running a 51 in. Samsung 3D capable plasma, and any IR I've had is very minimal. It does exist, but not to the extent I'm reading about here, and generally goes away in less than an hour after switching to video content. This TV is also hooked up to my gaming computer that runs the rest of the home systems. No windows OS burn in at all. Mostly gaming IR, like the Dust HUD. Got my vote for a transparency option as well.
Just out of curiosity, are you Panny guys running 3D plasma sets? I've read elsewhere that 3D plasma sets are less likely to have issues, even if you're running a standard HD refresh rate.. can't remember why that was stated, or where I found that article tho. |

Yeah Phakk my panny is 3D,and up until now I've never really had much problem with it , I'm even playing game ATM on lower contrast and brightness settings(in game mode) just to try and cut it out a bit , but it doesn't help to be honest, 30 mins in game and retention is back , as I have already posted I had scrolling bar running all last night and it still there, it is going but will prob need another night of scrolling bar to move completely , but it will come back once I play again. I really hope this is sorted , as I'm really enjoying game ATM |

Mine is not 3D but have heard the same things that they are less prone (should have spend the 150 more), have reverted to an old Hitachi 51 rear projection HD TV. Its goods to see they are looking into it.
As far as the others trying to get the retention out, the best luck I have had is to run the pixel flipper on the Disney WoW dvd and not play on that tv till they lessen the brightness or come up with something to dull the white. Though I do like the HUD on this game my OCD wont allow me to play on that tv knowing it will be there. Its basically all gone and can only be noticed on a dull white back ground. As well, the black bars on the top and bottom aren't going to help the image retention either.
I have faith it will all be fixed in the end thanks for responding PHOTON.

If a plasma is the only display you have, a crappy temporary fix for this is resizing your screen from the options menu every now and then to change up the area affected. It doesn't move it far, the image quality suffers, and if you're hammering Dust to cap each week it's not going to be enough to stop the rings burning into your display, just slow it down some. Not really a fix at all! |

Hmmmmm...the easyest way to fix the problem ist simply not playing this game till ccp solve the hud question. I can play half an hour and i see ghost huds...it happens that quick, cause the hud ist white, the plasmacells have to work on their highest levels when showing white...its deathly, and i do not wanna buy a new tv, and i do not wanna play on my lcd pc monitor with my ps3 sorry...so....i cant play actually
Best option for me is to hide all the menue stuff while changing nothing, that will bring a better game expirience too, or make them clear, also very good...

Surely this shouldn't be so hard to fix, but until it is fixed I won't be playing again either
Would be good if he could get an update on this, but I guess ccp to busy with other things |

Is anything being done about this ?
Or maybe it's time just to delete this game from my ps3, I refuse to play ATM because of this, I'm no expert but surely this should take this long to fix
it's been about 6 weeks since CCP Photon posted on here , and no update since
guess its just easy to ignore and hope problem goes away itself.
Shame though as I was enjoying this game. |

Same issue here. I don't see what model of the PS3 matters for this image retention. Just make it possible to set it to 80-90% transparency and it should be much better.

I'm running a Panasonic plasma as well - same issue (and my girlfriend is going to chop off my head if the IR stays). I've messed with the TV's video settings a little bit and it might help. Turn your cell light all the way down, and change the contrast a bit. The game gets pretty dark, but it might help! |

same issue. burn in hud. please give transparency settings and or use effects to make the gauges disappear or flash when health full or shield recharge initializing. Map can flash off momentarily when getting in and out of vehicles and ammo can disappear when full or reloading. |

I own a Panasonic P65ST50 (65 inch plasma 2012 model) that I play on and she's a beaut! The picture quality on the Panasonic plasmas is the connoisseurs choice in a world owerflown with cheap LED LCDs with poor black levels and overblown colors; my model was selected as the best HDTV last year by the wire cutter (http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-big-tv-is-the-panasonic-st50/). Now this is not a rant about LCDs and how awesome my TV is (there are more expensive and better models out there like the VT50 and this years new models, ST60, VT60 and ZT60) but a platform on which to build up my arguments. I'm sure you're aware of the main drawback of plasma technology: image retention (or screen burn-in as some people know it).
Plasma burn-in is something of the past though, if you use pixel orbiter and set the contrast to logical levels you can't permanently damage the display; it would take days of static images on max contrast to even come close. There is however image retention which can stick around for minutes, hours, and even days! While playing Dust 514 for many hours I've noticed that the HUD can leave image retention of the bottom left and right information panels (HP & ammo) plus some slight traces of the map information at the top left.
My solution so far has been to run slides after playing to get it off, this can however take hours only to get IR back the next day after playing. My question to you is if you can please add a setting to the transparency of the HUD? This would greatly diminish IR of the static parts on the screen. There are many people out there with these awesome displays and you can easily help us by adding this functionality. There is already transparency in the HUD and props for that, but we need more!
Thank you
Set the pixel orbiter to "On" not "Auto" this should reduce the IR |
