I went in three back to back matches on the jagged edge map in ambush today. I played against mostly the same people each time and they had a squad of three with laser rifles....
Its difficult for me to counter that with my laser solo, but it was "fun" all the same. Aside from the occasionally viziam user i can best most laser guys with my standard LR. Lol funny how im a LR specialist but i have yet to go past LR op lvl 1.
So what about you guys? seen a lot more lasers lately? Nowadays i cant get into a single match without there being atleast one other LR guy, and thats pretty high considering i almost never saw them before. |

Yeah I have seen +2 laser guys in the opposite team. It's really annoying because my laser guy is glass cannon and dies fast to those lol. |

The big issue is that on most of the maps, the distance between points of interest is about the right range for Laser Rifles, making them really good for certain areas. This is particularly true for Manus Peak, especially in the area of the map where the Ambush takes place. |

I don't think that's too common. I find that battles are more fun and interesting the more minority weapons are being used. Ideally all light weapons should be equally as common. |

I love when the enemy team is full of Laser guys. Shotguns work wonders against them. |

I find the increase in any weapon other then the AR, HMG, and sniper rifle to be very encouraging. It shows that people are branching out of their comfort zones and at least trying something new. CCP put in a lot of great weapons that people have ignored for a significant portion of the open beta. We have been sitting here, in a futuristic world and 90% of the player population has never touched anything other than the more conventional FPS weapons. Until recently I had almost completely forgotten about the Mass Driver, and now in pup games I am starting to see almost everything being represented. I can't wait to see what happens when the new weapons get added, and what else they have planned. |

It's the map. It's like it was designed for the lasers.
Btw, we were on opposing sides on one match yesterday on that map.

i see people pull them out to try and fight my laser sometimes, but it's pretty rare to find a dedicated laser user from what i've seen. |

Lighthouse Squads FTW!
Lasers bring cheer to our allies, lead them to safety and occasionally give a smoky lesson, about importance of environment awareness, to open space run & gunners. They educate better than ARs and LAVs.

I only see LR getting more used on the Manus Peak Ambush (not OMS) map. But i guess that`s because people (well i guess Raspberries' Blueberries do) tend to stand around in the open taking shots at people in cover and then starting to run around like headless chickens when they get roasted by mah lazors! Mjamm roasted headless chicken!
On every other map it's rather situational whether i use the LR or not... i tend to change suits several times a battle but i mostly use AR for day to day slaughtering and LR to pick of annoying people on pipes.
I really like the LR but i have to admit i`m not really dedicated to it... As a Logibro i tend to get out what`s most beneficial atm.

Manus Peak Ambush heavily favours Laser use.
But excessive use of Lasers on the map heavily favours Shotgun Scouts as a counter. Mass Drivers and SMGs work pretty well too, although Shotguns are (slightly) better against Heavies. |

Haha.....had an Ambush start the other day and at was like a scene from StarWars! I think we had 8 - 10 on each side with lasers....wish I could have recorded it.
Lots of burning going on...I evaporated in 1.3 seconds. :) |

I've seen lasers used alot more recently, especially on the map that the OP is posting about, because it is a great map for them. While this is a great headache for me when playing this map, I think its a good thing. There are 2 reasons for this IMO:
1. Variety is good, I was getting sick of dying only to GEKs
2. While myself (and most other PC corp. affiliated players) would argue specialization is key to success in DUst, being able to do things like pull out a laser for a specific map or terrain type, shows that in some cases and for some people specing into multiple things is viable as well. |

Dedicated laser scout with uplinks reporting in.
I never used to play ambush much. But since discovering the map the OP is talking abt I now do.
And I'm pleased with the new laser guys. as others have said it adds more variety and plus it's so much fun to see those lasers disappear before my eyes because there out of range, thats when I like to pull out mine with lvl5 sharpshooter and make me some fried merc. |
