A standard active-booster costs 7,000 AUR. An Omega active booster costs 17,500 AUR.
Standard gives an additional 0.5x SP/match Omega gives an additional 2x SP/match
With a standard active booster, the weekly SP cap is raised to 280,000 SP Not sure how much the Omega will affect the weekly SP cap.
But, with 1 omega booster, you can buy 2 standard boosters so you can have a potential of 560,000 active SP over the course of 2 weeks.
Right now, the only question remains is "how will the omega booster affect the SP cap?" for me to see which is better. Weekly cap on SP determines if this thing is worth it or not. |

From the Dev post, they said 2x. From this, I conclude its a 2.0 modifier, not a 1.0 modifier as compared to the standard which gives a 0.5 modifier. |

See I would consider the current booster to really be a 1.5 modifier since you're multiplying SP gain by 1.5 (multiplying by 0.5 would give half SP obviously). I highly doubt the Omega booster is 4 times effective as the standard, and if it really is then that's really messed up. |

But I'm dying to know how will the weekly SP cap be affected.
W/O booster, weekly cap of 190,000 SP W/ standard booster, weekly cap of 280,000 SP W/ Omega Booster, weekly cap of ????? SP |

How would you look at it really?
Standard- 0.5 of winning SP added on or a 1.5 modifier?
Omega- 2x of winning SP added on or a 4.0 modifier as you said? |

If CCP has any sense, it's simple
Standard Cap = 190k Standard Cap + Booster = 190k * 1.5 (Which is the same as an additional 50%)= 285k Standard Cap + Omega = 190k * 2 (That's where your x2 comes from) = 380k
EDIT:
Drake435 wrote:Pokey Dravon wrote:Drake435 wrote:Pokey Dravon wrote:Does the Omega really give an ADDITIONAL x2? or is it +50% versus +100%? From the Dev post, they said 2x. No, I think everyone else thinks its a 4.0 modifier, which I say is ridiculous. Its 1.5 for normal, 2.0 for omega. |

Then, the Omega booster is NOT worth it. It costs 3,500 extra AUR over buying 2 standard boosters which nets you a grand total of potentially 560,000 SP over the course of 2 weeks. Lets see, an Omega booster is 380,000 SP + 190,000 of the 2nd week w/o using boosters = 570,000 SP for playing for 2 weeks.
So from your logic, is 1,000 extra SP really worth 3,500 AUR more over the two standard boosters? |

Correct. You're paying more than double to get only double bonus SP. I think the reason it exists is for those need to get a little extra SP in that week and are willing to pay extra for that, it is not meant to replace the normal booster in any way in the long run.
Its not really my thing, I think the cost of the normal boosters per month is about how much Im willing to spend on this game every month, so I'll stick with what I've got. |

This SHOULD (key would) be easy to figure out
No boosters = 194k weekly cap Booster = 284k Omega booster = 390k
The current booster is a 50%, but thats on top, so its a 1.5x . The omega is 2x, meaning double. So if u hit the cap and max 1k WP, ull get 1k SP. The new booster SHOULD be 1k x 2 = 2k SP
That said, the omega booster isnt THAT great. If you buy boosters weekly, u can essentially use 2 omega boosters a month instead of 4 regular ones (to get same monthly active sp); however u spend less aur buying 4 regular boosters. The only real way omega are efficient is if u run them for an extended period of time; or if u know u wont be around for a full week, so u double up the week before |

The marketing department is going to use the most attractive words to sell this expensive booster.
They aren't going to call it a 1x booster, they will call it a "2X BOOSTER!!!!" because it doubles your possible points.
If it actually quadrupled your score they would scream "4X BOOSTER!!!!!!!"
It's simple marketing.
So you are spending 2.5x the money to get an additional 0.5 multiplier (over the standard booster). |

yes you're right, they're going to make it somewhat ambiguous to draw people in and ultimately leave them with bitter disappointment and soul crushing buyers remorse....*sigh* oh the joys of marketing. |

Based on the previous 3 players' responses, I have concluded that Omega boosters are only worth it if you have that extra AUR to spend and wish to get your SP earlier than people running normal boosters.
Now unless it is really a 3x (or is it 4x? I'm working on AP US History so brain not working) modifier (your winning SP + 2x your winning SP), then Omega boosters are game-breaking. |

I really don't think they are, simply because CCP isn't that stupid. Not to mention if they did offer that much bonus, there would be little reason to buy normal boosters because the Bonus%/AUR would be better with the Omega than the normal. |

I haven't paid much attention to this but I thought that active boosters only increase the amount of SP per match, not the weekly skill cap. Basically, you would just be able to hit the cap more quickly? I've always used active and passive so remain ignorant of how much SP one might get without them in a week. |

No, the best way to look at it is that bonus SP is not included in the weekly cap, just the base SP you earn. So you hit you cap at the same rate, but the cap itself is effectively raised by 50% (if using normal boosters) |

I like your post BTW.
But to further clarify, the base weekly cap is 190,000 SP right? The normal booster gets you 0.5 more in winnings so effectively, you would get 280.000 SP total for that week. Potentially. |

I figured as much but I felt I should further clarify to others that you're specifically talking about the active SP cap, and that the addition of Passive actually yields a higher limit overall for the week. |

its a 2x... .5x more than current boosters.
so 380ish k sp for the week....BUT... now 2k per match after the cap. the thing most fail to realize is yes its overpriced, not worth it etc, BUT is the ONLY way to get more SP per time played, which will appeal to enough for this to be a successful promotion. i would say it will allow up to 500k more sp over the course of the week for those that use it properly.
my only question is how does it affect a current booster running?
im sure it doesnt stack, but does it pause the current booster? override it? none of the above? i would need to know the application aspect before ever considering it |

I made this thread hoping a Dev was going to clarify this but to no avail. Probably because they can't leak information over things that haven't exactly been released yet. Which is not a really good reason considering its our money we're spending these things on. |
