If your going to compare this game to other fps games don't forget that COD and Halo are just a hand full and no most don't have bullet drop. Snipers are no more OP than anything else you team or squad isn't running. Everyone started slamming them so less people played them so the people that are aren't getting killed by others as much. If you have a well rounded team there is little to nothing I've seen that is OPed. Except the MCC. That thing is OP. |

Personally its the sniping mechanics thats broke, nothing about sniping is bad its just that currently there is no actual skill involved in the act. you just line up no matter where they are on map and pull trigger, have enough damage mods and a good rifle and its insta kill. what is OP atm is the Thale. its just a insta slaughter machine and you cant do anything about, i've had it several times where they sit on the huge mountain behing B in a heavy suit with a logi up there going 50-60/0. we've tried countersniping but once you get a shot off they find you and pop u.
The mechanics need bullet drop adding, sure its a railgun but thats no excuse to be lazy, the planets have gravity so things move towards the ground and atm its making games exteremely dull and boring when 90% of both teams are just in hills sniping because its easy kills. More skill to hit the long shots, better collision similar to scrambler pistol so the damage is applied for head shots not anywhere on body. Sniping doesnt' need removing, just fixing to require a bit of skill to one pop someone from 3km away |

Sniper rifles should be removed from play and people with skills in sniping have their experience automatically put into sensor upgrades so they can actually help their team.
I agree we should nerf needles too I mean can anyone name IRL one needle that can instantly heal some one and repair body armor? |

Check any modern sniper rifle stats, most will be accurate up to 1500m, a few to 2500m, so 500m is nothing nowadays. If the sniping you are receiving is that bad then counter snipe, simple. |

snipers are ok... but there is not enouth cover on some maps.... we need just more cover... like in the closed beta map around may...
the maps we have right now don't have enouth cover.. so it's to easy for snipers to get kills |

When all the snipers are finally at the level when they have THales the game will be ruined. I dont really care for snipers and i dont see the thrill of sitting in a safe spot spamming shots at people that cant hit you. Snipers do tent to ruin the gameplay in skirmish when there are more than one. THere isnt a balance in offense vs defense. THe thales damage needs to be lowered so it does not one hit kill so many suit layouts. |

Ruin the game...pffft. A sniper could say the exact same thing about tanks. In fact anyone who can't take out one particular type of enemy unit can say that and be just as wrong.
You really don't realize that there is no safe spot for a sniper??? If he can hit someone, a enemy sniper can reply in kind.... and they do. And that goes for the redzone too. I can't count how many times I've spawned in the redzone only to have a bullet whiz past my head and I'm forced to setup back there and SNIPER BATTLE it out.... or perhaps you're kidding.
When there are good snipers on either side there are two very different battles going on out there. I'm happy with just a few kills in a match if they were on good enemy snipers who I've been hunting for and who otherwise would have wrecked my team. In fact, there are even sniper rifles geared towards killing other snipers.... Tactical. But I digress, I'm sure you're kidding.

I think the point is that snipers in Dust are way too consistent.
In real life, you'd get off maybe one accurate shot without a bipod in place, let alone 3 in the exact same spot within seconds of one another, even with a bipod.
Snipers in Dust are unrealistic. Simple as that. You can cry "scy-fie teknolojies" all you want, but the fact that Mercs can hold what is probably a 20 pound gun perfectly still, even when firing slugs that could punch a hole in any modern day tank armor, is straight up BS.
Snipers need to get always-on sway in the scope, so that the Sniper Operation skill actually has some use other than unlocking Ishukones. |
