I come from a long line of playing big name FPS games and I feel that there is a lot CCP is doing with interconnecting and all that, but its missing a lot of polish that most FPS games have. This is Black Ops(the first one) level graphics with 3% of the customization options. My suits all look the same and so do the weapons(minus a different color here and there). I mean an M16A4 looks different than a SCAR and thats the way it should be in game. The Gek looks the same as every other gun. There is a Creo Dron spec shotgun to purchase but if you pay attention, all of the shotguns say Creo Dron on them.lol this game is starting to look like what Activision was doing to True Crime where Square Enix turned it into an awesome game called Sleeping Dogs. So who will build this next?Bungie? They're too busy with Destiny, which looks to me being literally months behind developement on the time line but looks easily 6 years a head. Time to step it up guys. |

I'm sure we'll get item variety in the real game. Right now it's all the same to reduce workload and focus on ironing out the core elements.
It's unpolished, as betas always are. |

Typically development goes more like: Alpha: get all the content in Beta: polish and balance the content Release: The core mechanics are working as intended (more or less).
then come patches and expansions.
I know we are in a crazy age of game development and sales post Minecraft and Kickstarter but when I see this kind of arbitrary use of terms it irritates me.
If CCP want to say this game is in beta then players have a right to be concerned with the lack of content. The whole idea of polishing and balancing combat before adding all of the weapon and suit types has confused me since I joined in closed beta.
I realize that CCP have their own way of doing things and respect what they did with EVE Online but I can absolutely understand people's concerns with Dust and general lack of prolonged interest. |

My interest is lost.
The next build is going to make or break it for me.
I've been here since build 1 of closed beta.
We know this isn't the full version but progression has been very slow.
Yes devs have a weekly feedback, however, they say things like
Looking into redline abuse, the next week its something else with 0 updates of what they discussed for redline abuse.
1 year later and we haven't even seen 90% of the things said they would be fixing.
We get hardly any real feedback and if they did implement something we suggested or that we want balanced more, they do their own thing hoping its right without working along side the community to balance things out.
We've been lacked in content for a year, I mean really? 1 year and very little has changed.
This game has great potential.
If it doesn't speed up by the time ps4 gets on market then it will flop.
Psn players are not like PC players, once something flops the player base is dead and stays so.
There needs to be more content and need for Corp battles than just fame and glory.
Market trading needs to be open,
Terrain bugs need fixed,
Graphics need smoothed,
DS's need their WP's,
AV vs Vehicles need fixed,
Large missile turrets need fixed,
Railguns need to be more effective,
AR's need their internal tier system reworked for dps and recoil between militia and proto,
LR needs skills to work and be applied,
AV grenades need reworked,
Swarms need reworked,
Hit detection needs improvement,
These are just a few thing in a long list that a year hasn't been solved and slowly moves forward, though moving backwards faster then forward |

Most betas these days are usually the disk is already printing at stores and are being shipped when they let people in, thus somewhat of an early demo. This malforming of a beta pisses me off because they generate the people you describe. |

Allow me to quote something I posted 6 MONTHS AGO
Quote:I love how CCP just seems to play Jenga with dust "lets see how many **** we can stack up with a mediocre base until everything falls"
How about you do like the whole MOBA developers have been doing with their betas, fix the issues THEN release new stuff.
Just a thought.
And yes I hate the "its a beta" excuse, just cause its a beta doesnt mean that it has to be poorly done, thats what alphas are for, kid.

i cant get that hyped on destiny from the limited footage of it, its basically delivered well by well spoken people on an expensive stage from the extent of the footage. they talk vaguely of vastness and cool "stuff" but nothing really specific, it comes off as good PR to me. tho i havnt given up on the vision of dust yet |

Anyway I'm not even an EVE player, but CCP seems like both a company to be trusted and a company in it for the long haul with their games Their moving slowly and being relatively responsive only confirms that imo. People can deny all they want, but in reality I see Dust514 [no beta] on PS4 |

I love this game and what can and could be, will be awesome... BUT they need to move it along..
If they want the population to stick around and get new people to play they need to keep it moving..
New Maps (what I want to see), planets, weather, customize camo or weapon color, taking over control of planets etc needs to be put in place for the PS3 so it can gain momentum onto the PS4.. I will ride with this game til the wheels fall off but most wont wait... |

Welcome to the reality of what it means to be a work in progress. You came here knowing fully well that this is a beta and therefore you should have known that the beta is currently not finished.
Much work needs to be done, that we already know.
Let me bring to you a little history. When Eve Online first launched, it was severely lacking in so many things. What you see now in Eve Online wasn't there upon release. The New Player Experience system was not in place, avatars were limited to just a portrait of your character and his/her upper torso, graphics were so cheap they looked half-baked, etc. I can go on but the forums has a character limit per post. In fact, the game was rushed out because the company was small and had no choice.
Today, CCP has grown strong and Eve Online has grown to fruition during the past 10 years but they know that just because they have gotten better that doesn't mean they are obligated to hurry up with their production. Unlike some game companies, CCP wants to be careful with what they are producing because Dust's development will effect Eve Online which is their main source of revenue. Even at this state, Dust is already affecting Eve in terms of new subscribers, market speculators, and corporate policy changes being setup by the players.
If CCP screws up Dust, then Eve Online could suffer and I don't want to see that happen to a game that took 10 years to build up. |

I totally agree with pretty much everything that you say.The lack of content and polish for a game that's been in development for this long is teetering on unacceptable, mainly because of the lack of communication to the players from CCP.
The more and more I think about it,the more I'm of the realization that this game will never be finished for the PS3.I would bet almost anything that CCP has the dev tools for PS4,and are maximizing it for the new console.I'm thinking that we are just lab rats testing that most basic systems so that they can just easily transfer that data into the PS4.
As slowly as this game is moving into becoming a full release, that's the only thing that really makes any sense at this point. The progression of development is just taking way too long for anything else other than they just don't know what the hell they are doing,to be the case.

I thought this too, until I found out CCP is not registered for development with Sony for any PS4 porting ect.
So technically atm, they can't be using tools for it. |

Just curious, but where would you find this information? I know that Sony had a big screen of devs that they showed during last Wednesday's press conference, but I'm not sure that just because CCP wasn't listed necessarily means that they don't have the dev tools for PS4.
On the other hand,to play my own devil's advocate, even though CCP has clearly stated that they have plans to bring Dust to the PS4,that doesn't necessarily mean that Sony is ready for them to bring the game to the next gen console. If that truly is the case, then it's obvious that Sony is taking a wait and see approach of how Dust will do on the PS3.In that case, they really need to get their **** together, otherwise this game is doomed to an outdated console that will never be able to handle the full scope of what Dust 514 is going to demand.

I am trying to avoid focusing on the next build as "The One". The one to perfect the graphics. The one to get the weapon balance right. The one to add THE content I will find most satisfying...the one to alphabetize my @#%$! contact list, etc.
-but yeah, I get a vague kind of ennui as each build ages; Dust, as a whole becomes a little stale, with a couple of fun games to break it up. However, when I take a look at EVE (ugly bits and all) I still get excited for what Dust may become.
Things to do in EVE
I totally appreciate how people are getting sick of that particular sentiment; some of us are just looking for a better FPS and some of us are looking down the line for a more meaningful FPS. There's plenty to be disappointed about from both perspectives. None of us feel like we have enough pieces to play with yet and CCP could do a better job communicating their plans and managing expectations.
This game is going to have to get a lot bigger before there's enough room for all of us to play this game the way we want to play it. Right now it's small and cramped and were all stepping on each others toes.
If you do leave, check back in a couple months, or next year, or 2 years from now. If DUST dies, it dies. -but if it doesn't, you may find that it has what you're looking for.
(I will now resume my general snarkiness)
