We are tired of being trapped in our merc quarters. We know we're on a sapce station and we want out! We're tired of being held in our merc quarters only to be released onto the battlefield like gladiators for your entertainment and information. We are not animals! The whole idea behind this game is be able to go from planet to planet, taking different contracts over the galaxy. Set us free into the space stations to be able to start exploring New Eden.

I understand that there are very pressing matters of the core mechanics that need to be polished, however if i solely wanted to play team deathmatch there are a number of games we could be playing. dont get me wrong we love everything that we have been offered so far. It's why we return to this game everyday. I apologize about sounding greedy, but I want more |

Eh I dunno... Would be odd seeing like dozens of people in the same suits walking around, screaming out stupid things.
But might be better than sitting in a room. |

But might be better than sitting in a room. Well a lot of different things would come out of this, just like everything else. There will be mostly good and some bad. I think however this is the way of the future and definately more entertaining than being stuck in a room that you cant even sit down in |

Disney movies wasnt really what I had in mind. However offices for mercenary corporations, trade and commerce, transport to other space stations were things that I intially had in mind. Not to mention something else besides roaming the same maps we've been on for months |

This was going to be added to EVE. It was originally called "Walking in Stations" and the "Incarna" expansion was supposed to be the beginning of it.
Unfortunately, it got a bad response from a lot of the EVE pilots and got back-burnered.
Hopefully Dust will give them a reason to finish developing it.
Maybe then my Dust peeps and my EVE peeps can go clubbing. |

I'm afraid to ask, but what made the EvE peeps all pissy about stations with interaction? |

WiS was a great idea, but CCP dropped the ball. They added microtransactions and instead of giving people an MP station experience with player owned shops/bars/whatever they gave them a single, singleplayer, tiny room that replaced ship spinning. That was the only thing they released after 6 years of development, the last of which was pure WiS work.
Hopefully they'll finish it at some point so we can go beat up space nerds at bars. |

Right this wasnt my orginal idea. Apparently it was introduced to the eve players back in 2011 and then later replaced with 'microtransactions' apparently something that didnt go over very well. From the video I watched EVE players took down public statues. I'm fairly certain that returning to this promenade idea would not only spark old interests in EVE players, but also grow new options in DUSR514 players. Besides the new interactions between the two worlds, something that has been limited and very much anticipated, this promade on the space stations would give us the opportunity to use trade and commerce. Some of the EVE pilots I've talked with were excited on both parties to be able to manufacture and sell mercenary gear for DUST514. I believe that this would also give us the opportunity to be able to have a market plae similar to WOW or DCUO. Not to mention being able to leave your merc/capt quarters would give some of us regulars an additional place to go outside of the battles that we enjoy |

Odd. that's what our quarters look like.... Minus the Mirror, and the chance to leave the room to see a battleship.
I would say give this some time. More importantly have the said they would absolutely not allow for mingling? |

More importantly have the said they would absolutely not allow for mingling? Its not that they said it would be prohibited, its that the idea was already introduced to EVE players and then for whatever reason was decided to be put off the table. The reason why I started this thread was to help CCP realize that this is something that both the EVE and DUST players are very interested in, before the idea gets brushed off the table again. Point in fact there are a couple other threads going on right now, whre DUST players are asking when there will be more to this game in concerns of an MMO. One of the higher reasons that a lot of us migrated here from other games was to get more out of an FPS than just being ina very small sandbox |

If there is some slight tension and wariness between EVE players and DUST players now...
Imagine the uproar if we dust bunnies get let out of our cages first.
I would much rather have a full game to play before I spend any time wandering around a space station with an avatar, go clubbing with capsuleers, spend AUR on shoes at the virtual mall or ride a roller coaster in the action districtGǪ |

I am fully in support of a visual social environment for DUST and EVE.
Walking in Stations was a flop due to it long work-in-progress time, and the lack of meat at the end of that process. Also the inclusions of micro-transactions that allowed you to buy cosmetic upgrades, but no-one to show them off to.
Had they, perhaps, implemented the Promenade and Merc Quarters first, then micro-transaction cosmetic upgrades, the reaction may have been completely different.

I support the Promenade! I coudlnt agree more. I believe the entire idea behind purchasing cosmetic upgrades is to be able to show them off. I know that a lot of people in DUST purchase AUR dropsuits, simply to be able to wear them in the war room. Tensions were only high between the DUST and the EVE players at the beginning, since then I've noticed their interaction to be congenial and buisnessworthy. Howver the interaction is limited, therefore any disputes or agreements really couldnt be detemined. I think that having a promenade would give both of our worlds the opportunity to meet as equals without our gear. Either way this is definately something that most all of us would want and a way to promise in a better future for New Eden |
