If we look at the rules of imperfect balance, people should be saying that scouts are OP by now. Why is that heavy+HMG still rules the battlefield. There is at least a squad of heavies (if not more) in every game. imperfect balance is broken. There is no class counter for HMG+heavy. Scouts are useless against heavies unless they have a shotgun. You used to be able to strafe around heavies back in replication. Now if you run at a heavy with anything but a shotgun you are dead. Scouts are supposed to be the counter for heavies. Just look at TF2 if you don't agree. Where is the imperfect balance ccp? Since strafe speed has been nerfed this game has become heavy paradise.
I do not play scout btw. Just thought I would point this out. |

Technically anything with a damage bonus to armor is a counter to heavies.
Mass driver works well im my experience.
Heavies rule tiny maps and cqc which is pretty much our only choices at the moment. Once mwps open up and the fatties are force to either be ferried about anywhere or act as defenseive bulwarks imperfect balance will be more visible. |

Its all about controlling the engagement. If you take a heavy on at close quarters your done. However, if you can engage that heavy at 70 + meters out with an assault rifle, there is nothing that heavy can do. If he sprays at you, one, maybe two bullets are going to hit, meanwhile you've just emptied a whole clip at his head.
I've baited many heavies out into a long range engagement that they cant win and laughed as they slowly walk towards me ineffectively spraying that big gun of theirs while I punish them for being so dumb as to think that they're invincible. At long range, heavies might as well be spraying blanks. Of course, there have been one or two times I've misjudged the distance and been torn apart because I was within the heavies range.
If you encounter a heavy at close range and you have no backup - run. Run as fast as you can, and put some distance between the two of you. When he moves to chase you, make sure you re-engage at long range.
I recommend finding some you tube footage of a good heavy, seeing how he moves, how his weapon fires and how terrible it is at long range, or even better, play as a heavy yourself and get an idea of the limitations of the class. Once you know what the weaknesses are, it becomes easier to exploit them :D |

A double moded GEK38 can rip my heavy in two VERY quickly, a laser at range can too. Heavy's are fine. |

according to the rule of perfect imbalance, everyone should be running scout now. IT should be the new OP. Its not becuase there is no counter class for heavies. |

according to the rule of perfect imbalance, everyone should be running scout now. IT should be the new OP. Its not becuase there is no counter class for heavies. There is, its called "play smart" just like you "don't bring a knife to a gun fight" (except for the crazy's who do) you don't want to fight a heavy head on, or in close range if you can avoid it. You engage them at range and wear them down until they're dead or damaged enough for you to take on with a good chance of success |

why should he be getting outplayed by scouts left and right? If he's a decent heavy player he should be dictating the terms of the engagement, and he should be running in a squad most of the time. scouts are fast but fragile, if they make a mistake in a fight with a heavy they die, thats as it should be.
And i said play smart because this is a game when knowing what you're fighting against and knowing the best way to maximise your advantage is important. |

If you don't understand why scouts should be outplaying heavies, you need to leave this thread and go read "Perfect imbalance for dummies". Then go play some TF2.
You can tell just by looking at the forums that perfect imbalance is broken. Where are all the scouts are OP threads? We have been stuck on HMGs and lazors forever. |

I used to get killed by scouts and assaults ALL THE TIME, but the last thing I'm gonna do it complain or cry about it. I learned from it and now try to prevent it from happening again. I now easily go 30/3 per game with my learned skills. Too many people try the same thing over and over again and expect different results. It doesn't work that way. I have learned from my encounters and know what to do to keep my deaths down against scouts. There are so many threads on Heavy's and HMG's because many have not spent the time to learn how to counter them!
There are very effective counters to heavy's, one just needs to try different things till they find something that works with their play style.
TL;DR - Don't cry about being stomped, learn from it and get gud. |

We're still waiting on the next update so people just keep recycling the same old threads over and over, and the fact remains that each class is superior in its role not restricted to it. There is nothing stopping a heavy fitting a couple of cardiac regulators or a logi running round with nova knife's or a scout fitting as many armour plates as he can. In my opinion the "imperfect balance" is more focussed on weapon choice's then suits although they do play a part. |

I have to disagree here. While Heavies+HMGs dominate the CQC realm against anything buy a shotty, if you engage at more than 25m with an HMG and the other person has an AR, that heavy better run his fat rear away because that AR is gonna win 95% of the time. Laser Rifles are also a good counter to heavies, but must be about 50-75m away. One more thing, if you get the drop on a heavy, a Toxin SMG or any half-decent SMG for that matter will melt through heavies. |

Does no one understand how perfect imbalance works? I don't even play a scout. This isn't about me or heavies. Perfect balance is broken. The counter class for heavies is scouts. When ccp nerfed strafe speed scouts are were longer the counter class. Go look at TF2. I am just repeating myself now. Some people in thread do not understand perfect imbalance.
Oh well ccp will just nerf heavies instead of fixing the real problem. |

A monkey with a controller should be able to beat a scout as HMG. When scouts go invisible they will be the proper counter. Until then there is no real counter class for heavies. Why is there so much heavy whining? I get ruined by heavies if I happen to end up in CQC with em. If I want to counter the heavy, I'll go with a militia scout suit/shotgun or a sniper rifle depending on the map. I don't see a problem here.
I understand TF2 mechanics as well, and there's quite a few differences between the two games to consider before just throwing out a comparison between the two styles of gunplay. TF2 heavies have spool-up on the gun, TF2 scouts can't switch between shotguns and snipers. Dust module healing vrs. TF2 sandvich mechanics. TF2 medic mechanics vrs. Dust logi mechanics. Logistics vehicles. I'm sure there's many more I'm missing.
If you are constantly getting wrecked by every heavy, maybe it's time to rethink how you approach them instead of clamoring for a nerf.

I really thought some of you were smarter then. Either I have a serious problem with getting my point across, or some of you simply refuse to accept that the HMG doesn't have a proper counter class. Scouts are broken until they start going invisible. |

Whoever you are you need to take a step back. Negativity isn't constructive and idiots like you are clogging up threads with there pessimistic attitudes that do nothing but prevent anything positive from happening.
Pick a proper thread and troll there - stay out of any threads with real discussions because you obviously haven't any concept of what's going on around here. |

Anyway, Crimson, I'm still a little unsure as to what you mean by the term "Imperfect balance." Could you please clarify what you mean by it?
Thank you in advance. |

Pretty sure it's just the daily "Get imperfects name on front page" routine.

I do understand what you're saying now. Thanks for the clarification. I suppose it's sort of a wait and see type of deal until they put in all of the Scout's features that they're planning. |

One thing to take note of- We should have moved on already with all these HMG are OP thread. Where are the scouts are OP threads? In a evolving meta game everyone should have went scout by now. Yet we are still talking about heavies for months and months. We can't move on though, Scouts are broken. So the hmg threads flow on and on and on.
Anyways dead horse is dead. Thanks to some of you for understanding what I was trying to say. Heavies are not overpowered. The problem is the counter class for heavies is not complete yet. So these HMGs are overpowered threads will be popping up until then. |

The problem is scouts do not counter heavies like they are supposed to. For the record I wreck heavies all day simply becuase I have more sp/better aim.
To the guy from KEQ who said scouts do counter heavies. Lets test this. Lets both start new accounts, you spec scout/AR or SMG and I will spec heavy. Then lets see who wins.

I play a heavy and I understand what you are trying to say. Heavy is only strong in the beggining , when game resets are and everyone has no skills invested yet over 300k. However, look at the "end game" proto suits, weapons and it is very clear how badly heavy dropsuits are, even HMG Boundless doesnt feel like a proto weapon comparing to other weapons. Its almost the time when the heavies will start to fall behind others and they will just be laughable.
Although I do agree that scouts need some form of adjustment and buff, but also think for heavies as well on their advanced and proto items. |

This, Heavy gear is so damn shittyshit toward end game. 500000+ SP for barely any gain at all? Thanks CCP. |

I don't have much trouble killing heavies, unless 2 of them have me covered from both sides. I use a shotgun and can kill em easy most of the time, however in open areas I'm a dead man. I run Logi right now, and am saving my ISK up. I don't have a team yet though, I'm tired of playing with randoms who don't stick with me. Low shields+low Armour means I have to stay near cover or groups of people. |
