I find it ridiculous that 1 guy with a Handheld militia forge gun is able snipe me and my tank crew from wayy across the map without even giving away his position. There's hardly even a trail or red arrow that indicates where the blast is coming from.
Currently, a Handheld militia forge gun has the range and power to destroy a 650,000 ISK shield tank in about 3 - 5 hits. A prototype small railgun can't even do that! You know what? I really wish i could mount a militia forge gun on a Gunnlogi, i'd be sniping tanks and dropships for fun.
here's what i think needs to be done regarding this issue:
1. Reduce the range/accuracy on forge guns- Make it just as wonderfully rangy and accurate as a prototype small railgun mounted on a giant armored tank.
OR
2. increase the range/accuracy/splash damage on railguns
I know i'll get flamed for this, but it's the truth! |

Im a pilot and Heavy I Would agree With the range Nerf if it only applied to the Malitia forge gun as I have spent quite abit of sp on my heavy sharp shooter and forge gun opperation . Personally as a pilot I relish the thought of forges trying to shoot me down because its not easy . Pluss if you stay in the same spot long enough for a malitia forge to total your tank then it deserves to be blown up just my 0.02 1sk |

No they're not.
There. I said what everyone else was thinking.
EDIT: Further elaboration > Forge Guns require specialization, being as you -have- to go Heavy in order to use them and thusly take a major hit to your speed. Thereby, I will revise this thread:

Forge Guns take time to charge up and need to get a direct hit to do any real damage, they do at least 2500 dmg for a direct hit, did you think it would tickle being hit by one? XD Their not OP Forge guns are anti vehicle and anti structure if they didn't do that then it would be pointless... |

Well ... FGs are designed to take out vehicles ... just like AV nades and SWs. Using my Militia SW and basic AV nades, I take out the average HAVs in 2-3 shots, LAVs in either 1 or 2 and DSs with 2-4 (3 with AV nades and only if they're close enough to the ground for the homing to lock on)
In my brief foray as a Heavy, FGs do about the same thing. And since that's what it's designed to do, I had no complaints about it. And for the record, try out running and shooting a Scout + Shotgun loadout ... that armor + gun are a huge liability on the ground. I'd say it's quite adequately balanced. |

It's not that easy to kill a moving tank with a FG. At a long range it needs quite some skill. In close combat you are screwed, if the gunlogi knows his work, because you are slowed down while recharging and the massive damage of the tank.
I do not see them as op. |

I should also mention anyone with a gun can kill that forge gunner. 3 - 5 hits? If it was 3 shots your tank is fit wrong or you need to level something up before you lose any more money. If it was 5 shots why didn't you move to cover? 3.5 seconds per shot plus I don't know what it is for reload as it doesn't list it but let's say 5 seconds to reload. That's 22 seconds for you to bug out. I'm just saying, it's not always the gun's fault that it killed you. |

You're right and wrong.
True that the weird difference of handheld rails vs vehicle mounted (small) rails is still bothering most people.
Wrong that forge can be seen, even the person charging up is lighting himself - if he's dum enough to be in open. The shot trail may be difficult to see but it is there.
Forger is easier to locate when close, but then he's more dangerous. Also, he's at more risk himself.
As poster Altina McAlterson said above, 3-5 hits is a LOT actually. Both in measure of time and the amount of hits. That's severe pounding. If done at long range and you've moved even a bit during the time, the forger had had someskill.
I'm not saying any tunedown is needed, but if something is supposed to be done my recommendation is not to touch range/damage/chargeup times. Rather, redo the wobbling: now it seems that wobbling is only cosmetic.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that forge is always pointing dead center where all crosshairs point. Wobbling makes the crosshairs vibrate so it is visually harder to know where exactly the gun shoots. Usually that is enough to make it hard enough to hit over 500m. But I feel that is not quite good enough, maybe a bit different kind of wobbling that actually can lead the shot off target would be better. THAT would be a sensible way to make vehicle mounted rails to have an advantage at long range.

Lets analyze the forge gun,
BIG HEAVY GUN MENT TO DESTROY VEHICLES!
its suppose to destroy your vehicles don't whine about it sniping you because ive played the forge gun its stupidly hard to actually strike some infantry.

you have no idea what your talking about. you can buy forge in market place as militia gear. look in 'Militia gear' in market. you can see for yourself. i know i have one. i have all militia on my heavy armor, with a damage up mod, and shield mod. i took out all installations in two shot. no joke. and I'm a enforcer. so? |

ok i kill your tank in a couple shots with militia gear via forge gun. and see how fast your tank with 5,000 goes down. let alone two or three of them. can wipe out all tanks on the Battlefield. leave it alone? your funny..... |
