So when do we get rivers and lakes and stuff?
I would asome that on temperate planets there is liquid water. When do we get to see it. |

But it won't make much sense as to why there is no liquid water on any of the 7000 temperate planets in New Eden. |

Maybe, but some times I get so cooked up just seeing mountains surround me. Nothing but huge mountains the size of skyscrapers all around. All the time. |

^I see some double personality developing here.
Anyways, why can't there be colonies near lakes and rivers, or even underwater? I bet Gallenteans would love to build a base in the center of a lake. And, personally, I'd love to see those types of maps. |

Just recently I watched a youtube video where a developer was flying some sort of jet vehicle. Getting to the point, when he flew around you could see a body of water and small lake near the buildings he took off from. He then pressed start and the top view map showed what looked like a river expanding into an ocean. My guess is that the coding and everything needed for water is there; we'll just see it when CCP deams ready. |

that was the old engine. has anyone else fallen into the watery pit at the bottom of some objectives? your shields die instantly and your armour slowly drains, lucky I found the ladder in time. |

i found that to be more like acid a well, however that just means that it can still support water though

Ya there are acid baths in a lot of the structures, some you die as soon as you go in, I think cause there isn't a ladder to get you out. Others do have a ladder and you can climb in and out of it, a neat novelty and maybe the start of some sort of water feature. |

FWIW I'm sifting through the forums waiting for a match to end because I can't pick out a drop suit to spawn in.. only a spinning circle of blue dashed death. It's ok. The reticence to fight has been noted in my file, though :)
But I am not enjoying it.

In all honesty, rivers and other water features are a rather difficult thing to manage from a gameplay perspective, because they add additional complexity to the engine and how it's handled, unless we go with a rather straightforward "you fall into water and you die" mechanic. I do believe the team is working on eventually getting this additional level done, but it may be some time before they're happy with how everything looks and works. |

Nah we are in awesome sci fi suits. We wouldn't drown.
However, we wouldn't float either, so if any game design devs are reading this thread, consider this. We just walk on the ground under water, with a 50-75% speed nerf. We weigh so much I can't think anything other than that would happen in real life. Maybe you could add a limited supply of oxygen on top of that. Sort of like the Red zone mechcanic. That way dropships have a role of getting people over water, becuase running through the deep river or lake is dumb, slow, and a slow death. But a river could be painfully crossed to surprize or get the jump on an enemy position.
Also dropsuits that can move at full speed under water and have more air would be fun.
edit*what was that zombie movie where the zombies just walk across the bottom of the bay to get to the city? Something like that. : ) |

quick observations:
1) Dieing is usually what happens if you fall into a pool of water on Iceland
2) The request was for rivers and lakers - no-one said they had to be watery, and not lava-lakes and rivers.... |

It is a really fun way to handle it as well, and opens a whole new realm of possibilities with underwater passage ways and such.
Of course in Lost Planet you could also shoot under water, which isn't exactly true to physics. I know CCP likes to keep things grounded in somewhat reality, so perhaps no firing under water (or only certain type of weapons work) to go on top of your suggestion of suits that are better underwater. We're getting way ahead of ourselves here though. |

A.) That's a terrible idea and I'm almost certain every human being ever would want to be able to swim. Can't just reverse the aircraft mechanics? S'what we did in the NaW Battlefield 2 mod.
B.) Assuming that the Dust 514 DOES NOT go with the Lore on Oceanic planets (installations and the like being at the bottom of the ocean, rather than floating) I'd imagine this "feature" would be absolute hell. |

We already have water! and it damages our health.
In one of the maps with only 3 null cannons, there is a underground compound with water beneath the walkways, you can go in there and splash around but it damages your health. |

Scouts should get the option to run across the top of the water o_o |
