But seriously, this is a basic, fundamental glitch to eliminate at the very first few steps of putting a game together and yet IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I PLAY THIS GAME.

I know this option will take a while but how about deleting the game install and re-download the full game again.

Maybe I'm the only one - or maybe I'm the only one who bothered coming to the forums and gave enough of a **** to say something about it instead of just going off to play some other game (like I've been doing for the past 1/4 of a year).

And if you're going to use big words like "comprehend" to make yourself sound smart, you should probably get the basics right. That should be "you're" as in "you are" not "your" as in "belonging to you".

This is insane. This crap should have been fixed by now. I play this game literally less than an hour a month, yet every time I do, I spend about 1 hour to just download a new patch, then finally when I play, I have difficulty actually joining the match - once I finally manage to get into one I freeze soon after.

I get that it's a beta, for fucks sake, I get it. But seriously, this is a basic, fundamental glitch to eliminate at the very first few steps of putting a game together and yet IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I PLAY THIS GAME.

If I played for like 6 hours or more, I can see failing to join a match or my game crashing, but (and I am ---NOT--- exaggerating) I crash within the first 15 minutes of playing, every time. And every time I say to myself "Screw it, I'm not going to destroy my PS3 with all these crashes", then I go play Battlefield 3 for another month. I have said this SO MANY ****ING TIMES - seriously when are they going to fix these crashes?

I don't know how intensively the current version of dust pushes the ps3 hardware but if Vegas and Skyrim crash for you it might be with your console as iv not had a problem with these games ether. But if its not your hardware (you would know your hardware better than anyone else so ill take your word for it :P ) it might be worth getting in touch with ccp directly. I doubt they will be able to do anything about it directly but if you make the issue known to them they can at least investigate the issue.

Starting with a forum post is great but reading through the posts it seems nobody else is having this issue so next course of action should be a bug report to ccp.

See? Assuming that a BETA is meant to be stable when THE GAME ISN'T FINISHED YET.

Stability is important to have down BEFORE RELEASE, but it ISN'T as critical to a BETA because IT'S STILL BEING TESTED AND MODIFIED.

You don't focus on stability until the core functionality is decided on and you have a solid base to make stable. They're still working on what needs to be in the game, adding, altering and redesigning various aspects of how the core mechanics work. Until the game is FUNCTIONALLY ready for release, the problems you're experiencing probably aren't going to be the priority issues to fix.

Also, I've played a lot of games (Assassin's Creed series being a nice collection of examples) where this kind of issue doesn't get fixed even after release. Even after release of 3 sequels in the same game engine and a fourth in only a minimally-reworked "new" engine, for that matter. The original, and AC2, both crashed more on release than DUST 514 does while it's still in beta testing. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed had occasional crashes - almost as often as the current DUST beta - on release. Syndicate still desperately needs to be patched for major game-breaking issues and it's going to have been out for a year as of next month.

No, I'm not saying that makes it ok for a release-ready game, but it certainly makes it a bit more clear that the problem existing in beta isn't as bad as you're trying to make it sound.

To everyone else, my connection is pretty ****. I rarely get dropped from other online games. The only game that actually ever crashes is Skyrim or New Vegas.

The only time this game crashes is when I'm in battle, but surely enough, it crashes within 15 minutes of playing a new patch, EVERY. TIME.

I actually left my character in his quarters as I took an immense diarrhea (really bad stomach virus this week), and came back 30 minutes later and game was still going. I join a match (after trying over 6 times) and get 2 kills, 2 deaths then boom - game crash.

I promise it's this game. A beta that has been out this long should have had crashing issues like this fixed by now. The core is not set yet, they are still implementing temporary fixes so we can enjoy this beta while they work on the core programming so it gets to the point they want it to be.

Yes IT'S A BETA, but crashing problems should be fixed certainly within 6 months, CERTAINLY BEFORE BECOMING AN OPEN BETA. Your "it's a beta" argument is stale and invalid. I've been in over 10 betas, some FPS, some not, and I can tell you by the time it becomes an open beta, it's usually nearly finished. By that point they usually just focus on balance issues and MINOR glitches, which after looking at the last patch notes it had a **** load of balance fixes.

Read the writing on the wall. Anyone who chalks any beta issue up to "it's a beta" has clearly not been in very many betas. There were a lot of issues in MAG's beta that never got fixed and everyone just kept saying "it's a beta herp derp derp derp!" and look where it is now: It doesn't get enough players to even launch it's signature game mode.

Core of the game is here - but as with any beta we're still working out all the kinks and details. This game doesn't use a lot of the same techniques other MMO's have employed. It's already strange enough hit detection is from the client. Everytime CCP adds something new something else breaks. That's what we're here for - to straighten that all out. Sometiems that means it comes with crashes. Sometimes it means it comes with lag.

As long as we are still in anything that can be defined as 'beta' then we are as such. It may be an over-used excuse and may start to sting when heard but that doesn't take away from the validity of the comment.

Case in point, we have a guy in this thread who believes this game has better core mechanics than BF3. I don't like BF3 very much personally, but it takes about 5 seconds to see the gulf in class between the two games.

It's more of a timeline thing and the lack of it makes me feel like they really don't know what to do with the shooting (most important part) aspect of the game at all.

Just confirmation of things like " Yes, the frame-rate will be greatly improved in the next build which is scheduled for release in March" etc.

I don't think any of us like not knowing when things are going to be fixed, but there is a large group of us that sees the potential of this game and I personally believe CCP will continue improving on Dust the way they have on EVE.

Hey Rambo, sorry to hear your having issues.

I myself have yet to have any crashing or glitches where as i frequently would get dropped from bf3 matches due to poor connection. so I was wounding if your constantly having problems could the issue not be with your connection? or even possibly you ps3.

I remember it was really frustrating for me to get kicks from bf3 matches and i used to think it was the game until i checked out my internet connection and found it to be the issue. and as I haven't heard many people complaining about crashing in the open beta i can only assume the issue is not with the game specifically.

I know it doesn't help but I do hope you can find a solution to the issue.

Its really due to the fact that every broken mechanic in dust equals complex gameplay to its die hard fans. How can you fix anything in a beta if they feel nothing is wrong with it. Bad design and poor implementation is not complex gameplay.

The other day someone was bragging what a noob , he tried to melee me in dust.

Execution type Spawning adds to the complexity of the game ha ha, drop spawn camping droplinks instead.

its complex to have horrible vehicle controls that were based off a keyboard inputs than the ps3 controller.

unbearable frame rates and lag, with tone down graphics, half the player counts, and 70 percent of the game missing.

If these were new problems than I would say give them some slack, but its the fact that its a year now with no fixes and the only thing we can say to new players is. If you think it sucks now, you should of seen it 6 months ago it was worse. Basically saying dust improves at a snail pace come back next year for a good game.
