Stability is important to have down BEFORE RELEASE, but it ISN'T as critical to a BETA because IT'S STILL BEING TESTED AND MODIFIED.
You don't focus on stability until the core functionality is decided on and you have a solid base to make stable. They're still working on what needs to be in the game, adding, altering and redesigning various aspects of how the core mechanics work. Until the game is FUNCTIONALLY ready for release, the problems you're experiencing probably aren't going to be the priority issues to fix.
Also, I've played a lot of games (Assassin's Creed series being a nice collection of examples) where this kind of issue doesn't get fixed even after release. Even after release of 3 sequels in the same game engine and a fourth in only a minimally-reworked "new" engine, for that matter. The original, and AC2, both crashed more on release than DUST 514 does while it's still in beta testing. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed had occasional crashes - almost as often as the current DUST beta - on release. Syndicate still desperately needs to be patched for major game-breaking issues and it's going to have been out for a year as of next month.
No, I'm not saying that makes it ok for a release-ready game, but it certainly makes it a bit more clear that the problem existing in beta isn't as bad as you're trying to make it sound. |

Or maybe you're the only person who decided that when your system crashes once, you're not going to try again when everyone else is pointing out that it's not affecting us nearly as badly as it seems to be affecting you. Maybe you should install your update, quit the game, maybe shut the PS3 down and restart it before going into battle? If the problem has, by your own admission, only happened on updating, then it's probably the update process that's glitching, and you should report THAT problem to CCP in the technical support section of the forums instead of posting a rage thread in the general discussion area and expecting all the fans to be cool with that. |

Come visit, let me know where and when to meet you. I'll be happy to tell you that your English sucks in person. Note my correct use of the word "your" in the previous sentence.
Thanks for ignoring my on-topic comment while you were at it, by the way. |

Rambo Balboa wrote:Constructive as in not saying 'it's a beta' after I clearly stated in the first few lines I know it's a beta but it should be fixed by now. How about constructive as in explaining why "it's a beta" is actually a valid and relevant counter to your complaint? Because that seems like a sensible and relevant response to me. |

Well, OP, since you obviously didn't read it the first time, I'll just leave this back here.

To make your example relevant, making the beta totally stable before the game is finished would be like punishing a newborn baby for hitting you in the face when they're still working out how to move their limbs and can't possibly be doing so on purpose. FINISH THE DEVELOPMENT SIDE FIRST.
When you're building the frame of a house, you don't hear people complaining that the tarpaulin covering the internal framing isn't a tiled roof, because THAT ISN'T THE FINAL PRODUCT. When someone's building a mock-up of a supercar to show the design, you don't complain that they there's no engine in the display model, because again, THAT'S NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT. |

But more then that - feel ashamed you post like a douche with brain cancer. General Discussion doesn't mean "Place where people place there tears." We generally discuss the game here to help it grow - not listen to little girls like you QQ.
Wow, that's a REALLY man thing to say about cancer patients. Yeah, I'M the douche. At least I don't utilize people with life threatening diseases against pointless people on the internet simply to make my e-peener grow. If those people were here playing DUST and saw you post they'd be more then happy to take one for the team to call you an idiot. No, I think he has a point.
Accusing cancer patients - even ones with brain cancer - of being that stupid is pretty insulting. |

I was saying they should be offended at their intelligence being insulted by the comparison with OP.
I look forward to hearing from him when (if) he shows up. Could be entertaining. |

Beast Beastlington wrote:The sycophantic gnashing of teeth and the clutching of the word "beta" is absolutely pathetic on this forum. It's actually holding back the game if you ask me because we have these ostriches with their head buried so far into the sand that they can't tell their arse from their elbow.
Poor frame-rate? - IT'S A BETA Poor Graphics? - IT'S A BETA Poor Gun Mechanics - IT'S A BETA Poor Sound - IT'S A BETA
OP, I haven't had the crash bug but it's just another in a litany of things that are wrong with this game. I could go on but the drones who bleat on about "beta this and beta that" and the "go back to COD" brigade will arrive and ruin any chance of meaningful discussion. Case in point, we have a guy in this thread who believes this game has better core mechanics than BF3. I don't like BF3 very much personally, but it takes about 5 seconds to see the gulf in class between the two games.
Anyway, you aren't missing much. Poor framerate? Legitimate complaint, find one of the (many) existing threads in the feedback/requests forum. Poor graphics? Yeah, "it's a beta" applies, since the graphics have improved significantly with almost every build so far. But there are also threads in the feedback section for this because it's something that needs to continue improving. Poor gun mechanics? We already have a few constructive threads in the feedback section. Add your voice to one of them. Poor sound? Legitimate complaint, and one that's also well-supported in the feedback section. This game crashes and doesn't behave like a high-quality finished product? Not a legitimate complaint when directed towards something that's specifically presented as an unfinished product, and saying "it's a beta" is a legitimate counter to it. |

It's a sticky in the feedback section, in case you're wondering. |
