Maybe this is the first of a succession of sound patches. I'm just finding it hard to believe anything is rushed at this point since mr sound designer has been at this for half a decade now |

I have to agree the new bugs introduced or reintroduced was... well expected and a big downer for happening. However good job on live streaming an update this large with the new noises and slight change in handeling overall. |

Sound is currently borked to all hell. The announcer is still lagged when saying stuff.
Gun audio is muted/stuttery/silent. Consistently broken for all 4 of my squad EVERY match, every map. Makes it impossible to tell where threats are and what they are firing. Just silent death. |

You hear your own voice differently because you have sound conduction through your head which alters it from pure air conduction for everyone else. It has nothing to do with distance. |

It was a rough example bro! The fact IS, the shooter is closest to the weapon than the NON shooter, therefore it goes without saying that the sniper rifle sounds are going to be different. |

While I understand its supposed to be a plasma weapon and blah blah blah "They should sound like x or y", the reality is they are FUNCTIONALLY assault rifles. The sound they should use should reflect what we associate as an assault rifle sound such as an AR or AK, just not a copy of that sound, mix in a few things. The key to a good sound for a weapon like the AR's is using things that we associate with similar style weapons. Sure it uses plasma, but if we shoot it and think "now that sounds like an asssault rifle" then mission accomplished. However, i do not think that with this new sound they put in today...

a heavy with HMG behind me? well too bad I cant hear him shooting and spinning his weapon... ninja heavies ftw. |

Except that eventually we will be getting actual projectile weapons similar to an AK when we get the Minmatar assault rifles. The current ar sound is distinctive and sounds a bit like the plasma rifles from aliens, which is awesome. |

Okay CCP you broke the sound some how. I'm sure that's what the extended down time tonight is about. At least I really hope. I love some of the changes. At least I think I do, since there where no notes to go with this I'm not really 100% on what's changed. SMG reloading sounds nice though, a little deeper bass maybe, more of a mechanical sound when the bolt comes back forward. Skirmish, when I can hear it, sounds awesome with the sky rumbling above me. The shotgun, while your holding it at least, sounds great too. I did hear it at distance once, or twice, and couldn't help but thing it sounded like air being let out of a big bag, or something. I'll have to hear it at distance a few more times before I make my mind up.
That being said the new assault rifle sound is really going to start bugging me in a few days. The first few rounds where interesting. I definitely like the deeper bass the weapon has. It does give the impression that the rifle has real punch behind it. Which is appealing. I don't really care about the techno-babble debate one way or the other. It doesn't matter if it sounds like a plasma weapon, or a traditional firearm. So long as the sound feels proportional to the weapon I'm holding, I don't care. I thought the last iteration sounded fine. That being said once the novelty of the sound started to wear off I just found it grating on my nerves. I hear it, and I can't help but think of a monotonous drum beat that's been given a few audio filters, and tweaks. That happened within a hour of listening to it, I can't imagine how much it'll get on my nerves in a few weeks. Perhaps I just need to give this new effect a chance. I realize that as developers you can't please everyone, and that it's a fine line to walk. If i'm in the minority so be it. I just pray to god I'm not, because I honestly think I'll end up switching weapons otherwise. |

As for real life plasma, yes lightning is plasma, but its sound is largely irrelevant considering that we're talking about artificially induced plasma being magnetically propelled by machinery, and contained in a magnetic field. Furthermore, its presumptuous to assume all things in a plasma state of matter would produce the same sound, especially when there are conditons like density, speed to consider.
Most importantly, blasters sound kittening awesome.

Amen to that! Nothing like better sounds to help us ignore the real problems. I hope this example shows everyone we need to report, suggest, and support the necessary fixes and tweaks. Polishing the game's graphics, sound, and similar features are for later. |

The sound alone made the game almost unbearable for me to play last night, truly annoying. & It wouldn't take much for them to revert sound to the way it was before, to my knowledge. |

CCP, please make the Gallente AR sound like a mini blaster installation or turret. Right now, they sound horrible almost like silenced pistols shooting through pillows. Also, the sounds drops all the time, everyone is a ninja now. Please, fix all of these issues. |
