Hard to say if it's acceleration curves, deadzone, or aiming lag but definitely it is off. Add to that slow movement and turning, too long granade throw animations and R2 "wheel of laggy switching disaster" and FPS fans might not be pleased at all.
Haven't you heard, ask any of the forum dwellers, sorry I mean EVE players.
This is not an FPS, it's an MMO, or an RPG, or an MMORPG.
Or very occasionally an MMORPGFPS.
I suggest you HTFU, leave your stuff at the door, without letting it hit you on the way out. Get out of New Eden because CCP have their own way of doing things, adapt or die.

Hue hue.
Yes indeed, us Console Peasants like tight action on our DualShocks. Not like some Pc Master Race with their sloppy mouse actions.
We will gank CCP about that with our superior advantage in numbers and ability to create milions of post on that. Mark my words heathens it will start on a launch day !
Unless of course CCP will adapt and meet our reasonable demands.

Well thing is, this game is being targeted at a mass console audience, if it's going to be successful it has to come more in line with other "AAA" titles currently available.
It occurred to me the other day that maybe the PS3 itself is partly to blame. The system is over 5 years old now, maybe we're reaching the limits of what the hardware is capable of.
Aside from aging hardware all of CCP's servers in London, so anything we do here US side has to go across the Trans-Atlantic cable system along with tons of other traffic. |

MAG managed 256 players in the same game. If Dust can't manage similar numbers on the same hardware, I have serious doubt about the lifespan of Dust. |

The sad part is, everyone (seemingly even CCP) says "Oh next build the aiming/hit detection/lag will be fixed!". However, they have said this EVERY build, and half the time it has been WORSE in the next build. I'm done with this game for the time being, it is a beta and I can put up with all of the balance issues and such, but when the game has been in "closed beta that anyone can get into by preordering" for nearly a year, and the basics still don't work, that's where I throw in the towel.
I can't count the number of times I've been lining up a shot, microfreeze right before I have a bead on them, and when the microfreeze is over I'm 2 inches past them. Usually at this point I'm half dead even if I got the drop on them because of **** poor performance. |

I didn't read to see if anyone already said this, but...
When changing the sensitivity settings 0 is fastest and 100 is slowest. This messes with a lot of people trying to adjust their sensitivity. |

Yeah it seems there problems persist no matter what the setting is. 30 seems to be the best for me, but there are still a bunch of other issues. |

Have you ever played Killzone 2 or Killzone 3? The Uncharted series? The PS3 has proven to be able to pull off some pretty amazing games in terms of graphics, complexity, and performance... Dust 514, in it's current, could probably run smoothly on the PS2 if the coding was correct and they didn't use the Unreal engine.
Although to be fair to the engine, Mass Effect 2 looks and runs beautifully, and it uses some form of Unreal. So the potential is there for this game to run and look amazing on our aging console, CCP just needs to iron out the kinks in their code. With the PS3's limited ability, there is very little room for bad coding, because it simply cannot compensate without having detrimental effects on the gameplay (ie like the severe frame-rate problems).
Because there is nothing about this game right now that even remotely hints that it is going beyond what the PS3 is capable of doing, unless you count inefficient/poor coding which requires more horsepower from the PS3 to run it.
As for the controls, well controls have very little to do with hardware, I could have a FPS game on the NES with smoother and better aiming than Dust.

This problem isn't hit detection...the hit detection has been improved tremendously. The problem is that stuttery, laggy gameplay and jerky movement make it difficult for anyone to keep their camera on target. This in combination with high health, high movement speeds, and glitchy bumpy terrain that is extremely easy to get stuck on makes getting kills unnecessarily difficult and makes this game very frustrating.... |

The deadzone is still terrible though. |
