I mean, i am reading all these comments and i get the sense that a lot of the gamers are of the older crowd. For example, i am one of the younger guys. What would be your best guess for a percentage? young/older i have a feeling its around 30/70

I have seen and heard both but mostly I would say you are able to find and play with people of similar age and attitude. I have had some good success in the LF Squad chat, i encourage you to find people there.
As for a direct answer to your question, I would guess >50% over the age of 25. |

Since most of the players here are from Eve, I would say that the average age is greater than 27, matching Eve's demographics.

There was a thread a ways back on age that turned into a bit of an "old guys" thread. It would seem that we do have a good % of 30+ players. Which considering the dynamic of this game and that the PS3 has a higher average age than the competition, isn't all that surprising. Eve runs on the older side as well.
Myself...I'm in the upper range of the 30's with a daughter about your average CoD player age. Being my daughter though she's trying to talk her CoD playing friends into a Dust Kids Corp. I don't know if that will pan out but I'll be providing support if does. Could be trouble. |

I think the demographics are going to change dramatically once we're past release. Right now, to be part of the beta you need to: A) have been here since the early stages of the beta. B) got in via the PSN Home trial-of-terror. C) be a paying customer of the Eve or Mercenary Pack kind.
All of these select for non-childish players (and look how immature these boards are anyways). After release the F2P-model will in turn select for a less mature community. |

But its great to be getting all these responses. Well, i think i am the lowest stakes player here at a solid 15.514 years of age. But i can keep up with you old timers, no problemo.
But yeah, it is nice to know that everyone here is actually a touch more mature than CoD 10 years olds whose voices are so high than i honestly have no clue what they are saying, only that they are screaming their heads off

The number of "kids" (and by kids I mean attitude more than age) is less in BF3 than CoD and will be even more so in Dust. They may try it but there will be lot of "WTF is this" and will be quickly out the door. I think the nature and complexity of Dust is designed more for your older gamer that has been around the block and is looking for more in their gaming time. There is nothing to exclude your 16 year old gamer I'm just saying chances of the younger crowd getting hooked and sticking is much lower than it is in the older demographic. |

A parents sole task is to provide guidance and attempt to mold a better person than they are. To that end do you think I'ld rather have a CoD kid or a Dust kid? If it happens would they ever end up in null, getting fat Eve contracts...not bloody likely.
But let's say Dust has 1/2 the lifetime that Eve has, if you don't think think that a pack of 18yr olds with just as much experience in Dust as you would be a force to be reckoned with maybe you're too short sighted for this game. I hope you have someone at home that encourages and supports you instead of saying "I dunno if that's a great idea". All we can do is Speculate. I think several Dust players are also EVE players, like myself, so I'd say that would push up the average age a little - EVE is not a game kids usually have patience for - they usually ragequit once they lose their first battleship to hisec ransom pirates. |

It's several million more than i have but to be fair, i like that SP is not indicative of skill and that SP only has a marginal impact on the game so people can't just roll over people by just having high SP. |

26 here. I've never played EVE but I have friends who used to or are playing now. Knowing myself, EVE is a very intimidating game. It's the kind of game that's almost a second life and I could easily lose myself in it, if I didn't have to worry about money, work etc. |

I don't mind snipers but I saw a dude once who was sniping with a tank on top of a tower. I think he took a dropship to the roof then called down the tank there. By the end he was 29-0. I put his name on my Watch list so I can murder him repeatedly next time I see him. |

17 Years of age here. Keeping up with the Heavy class Burst Heavy Machine gun and have been playing MMOs, FPS games, and a few mech games here and there since the age of 10.
Been playing FPS since BF2MC and from there on out, I've primarily been a guy of FPS but also liked the Armored Core series as well with all the numbers in there so its easy to cope with this game. |

43. Have been playing EVE Online for over two years. Just bought a PS3 to play DUST 514 & maybe some other games although primarily for DUST. Got to get used to the controller though.
Seems to be a dodgy element wandering around PS Home. Not as 'sensible' as the EVE community but there are helpful and friendly people there too. I've been practising on Minibots in PS Home but I hope to start on DUST soon. Time slippage. |
