There was a thread a ways back on age that turned into a bit of an "old guys" thread. It would seem that we do have a good % of 30+ players. Which considering the dynamic of this game and that the PS3 has a higher average age than the competition, isn't all that surprising. Eve runs on the older side as well.
Myself...I'm in the upper range of the 30's with a daughter about your average CoD player age. Being my daughter though she's trying to talk her CoD playing friends into a Dust Kids Corp. I don't know if that will pan out but I'll be providing support if does. Could be trouble. |

Right now, to be part of the beta you need to: A) have been here since the early stages of the beta. B) got in via the PSN Home trial-of-terror. C) be a paying customer of the Eve or Mercenary Pack kind.
All of these select for non-childish players (and look how immature these boards are anyways). After release the F2P-model will in turn select for a less mature community. I beg to differ. The number of "kids" (and by kids I mean attitude more than age) is less in BF3 than CoD and will be even more so in Dust. They may try it but there will be lot of "WTF is this" and will be quickly out the door. I think the nature and complexity of Dust is designed more for your older gamer that has been around the block and is looking for more in their gaming time. There is nothing to exclude your 16 year old gamer I'm just saying chances of the younger crowd getting hooked and sticking is much lower than it is in the older demographic. |

But yeah, it is nice to know that everyone here is actually a touch more mature than CoD 10 years olds whose voices are so high than i honestly have no clue what they are saying, only that they are screaming their heads off Anyways, AGE GROUPS UNITE, AND FIGHT FOR THE GALAXY! And to the person talking about a kiddie corp...well....i dunno if thats a great idea.... That's me and as I said it ain't likely to happen, but she's not your average 13 yr old. A parents sole task is to provide guidance and attempt to mold a better person than they are. To that end do you think I'ld rather have a CoD kid or a Dust kid? If it happens would they ever end up in null, getting fat Eve contracts...not bloody likely.
But let's say Dust has 1/2 the lifetime that Eve has, if you don't think think that a pack of 18yr olds with just as much experience in Dust as you would be a force to be reckoned with maybe you're too short sighted for this game. I hope you have someone at home that encourages and supports you instead of saying "I dunno if that's a great idea". Don't make assumption on my household or the kind of friends my daughter has cause none of them list their age with a .5. |

Simply stating a belief that i had. pardon (And the .5 thing was a joke, as i believed it would be viewed as such since little kids do it all the time) Np and no offense taken, just opinioning back at ya. The only kids that should be legally allowed to include a .5 in their age are those that lost 1/2 a finger in some kind of horrific machinery accident...in that case I'ld let it slide. |

I would be afraid of having my 13 year old daughter playing an internet game with the amount of bad examples on so many subjects out there... but then again, that's me. Good luck with everything mate. Appreciate and understand the concern so thanks. I'm definitely in the educate over dictate (within reason) camp but the extra work is worth it. To the point were I get the "Dad I got this" if a problem arises. Education, expectations and trust work wonders. Besides you can't get pregnate or into a car with a drunk driver in a video game...wait a sec can you do that in GTA, oh kitten gotta go. |
