i think alot of the more traditional FPS game modes could be used in smaller battle with same gear etc. Wow the possibilities are endless, think of all the different modes you could pull from all the different games that would be just insane to watch, recruit from, etc. This could, on its own, make the game goty. Granted i already think this is the goty....... |

Love the earlier idea of hoverbike races. Maybe add in some simple weapons or traps with large racer count and you got yourself.a cool spectator sport.
Another cool idea when MTACS are fully fleshed out with various sizes and variants. I want there to be a sort MTAC league.
Another idea. What about football of the future? everybody got cool suits. And the idea could be to get some kind of ball across the opponents goal line. There would be different classes to full different needs in the arena.
Blocker: Like a heavy. Blocks opponent from getting across the line with their bodies and some kind of shield ability.
Attacker: Like an assault class. Kills the ball carrier and scores or passes the ball off to the runners. Can defend or harass enemy blockers.
Runner. Like a scout. Basically is really fast and best at getting across the line. Their goal is the ball.
Support: the logi. He keeps team mates alive and keeps equipment operational. Mostly defensive
The ball starts in the middle of the field. When a goal is scores it resets and the round starts again. Note: the players have suits and equipment that let the move fast and jump high to keep things interesting. Equipment varies from forcefields to cloaking devices to weapons for fighting and harassing each other.
J my idea of something that would be cool and fun to watch |

Yes, add skis to Dust, and give us high speed marksmanship! Totally a good way to show off a merc's potential |

Im thinking Cross country Racing. from one district to another, past mountains, grasslands, forests, even over the ocean. random obstacles like: for forests, you have mines, trees.
Grasslands you have snipers trying to pick you off,
in the ocean, you have predators of the sea and the skies.
in rocky foundations, you have to dodge landslides, drop ships trying to kill you,and rocky formations that you have to evade.
for the icy areas, you have to find a shelter in a certain amount of time otherwise your hoverbike will stop working and you die in the cold.
for volcano- lava-like areas you have to avoid the lava as it will cause your bike to overheat and fail, and huge volcano storms where you have to dodge the debris from volcanic explosions, maybe add in an asphyxiation meter.
or even the cities, avoid da police >:] countless more ideas just for racing :D
Also, MTAC Boxing :D |

Then it won't be no different from a regular battle, and so there would be no point. The whole point of E-sports, or Sports in general is to test skills and talent, not to have battles decided by other advantages.
In real life gladiators were slaves, so it wasn't about who had the most money to get better hear. The gear was provided to them, and they had to make due with what they had. |

Come one come all to post ideas for the amazing galactic spectacle that is Gladiator Arena! As you might know, CCP will be bringing E-Sport to Dust 514, and they are calling it Gladiator Arena, and EVE and Dust players will be able to spectate and gamble on the outcomes of those matches; its all suppose to come in 2013 I think. The purpose of this thread is for us to post the kind of modes and features we would like to see in Gladiator Arena.
What I want to see:
Standard FPS modes like Deathmatch and Capture The Flag.
Fun unconventional modes, for example: A mode where each player is assigned 1 specific other player to hunt down as a target.
LAV, and dropship racing (and jets when they come).
Fighting genetically modified fauna, like a giant bug. There is life in New Eden besides human, and its perfectly conceivable that some life would get genetically modified if they will be used as entertainment tools against gladiators.
MTAC battles (MTACs are mechs that are planned to come in 2013).
Special rules and limitations for each of the above modes (like knives and pistols only, weapon pickups, or no respawn)
Extreme, and spectacular visually captivating combat areas. Imagine fighting in an Amaar stadium full of ornate architecture, gold, and glorious shining statues.
Post your ideas.
EDIT: Thought of a very defined specific idea. Ghost jump mode: Inspired by the "transfer of consciousness" respawn system of Dust 514. Many computer-piloted clones are all over the battlefield.
Players can highjack any of those computer-piloted clones by transferring their consciousness to it. Players can ditch a clone for a new one as soon as they want. No respawn times.
Kills give you points, and deaths make you lose points. Kills of computer-controlled clones give very few points, while killing player-possessed clones gives more points. The more points your victim had when you killed him, the more points you get.
This can be free-for all, or team vs team.
Whoever has the most points by the end of the battle wins.
The battle arena will be set up to make all of this possible, and would be quite a fun sport. I think there was another shooter with something similar to this, but can't think of what.
Bad Idea. They worked 6 years on the game and now you want to make it Quake 3 arena, plus if you don't able earn enough isk for a proto drop suit for Tournament playing in a pub you are bad and you will be steamrolled anyway. And of course you can almost max out your favorite suit and weapon module for it in about 2 months. DUST is not only FPS you need make some decision before you jump to battle and this decision are as important as the battle itself. Of course if CCP will smart they will allow make people contract with set parameters, for exampl
Contract 10m Map: Arena DropSuit allowed: Militia Assoult, Militia Scout Skill: Max skill 2 milion. Team size: 3 |

Exactly. The best gladiators, the ones people were making money off were provided the best gear. The level of equipment was far from even.
More rules means a crappier experience and more work for the devs than this ffa mode warrants. If you want esports in new eden, bring your isk or go home. Take a look at the yearly tournament that's held in Eve.

I vote for CUSTOM matches in any arena mode the game includes.
-Skill bonuses: On/Off -Allowed gear: subsections for Militia, Standard, Advanced and Prototype, with checkmarks for each -Squads: Yes/No -Off Map Support: checkmarks again, with Precision Strikes, Tactical Strikes and any future OMS options -Installation drops: checkmarks again, with options for small and large turrets, supply depots and CRUs.
Let players create tournaments where very specific rules are used. If you want to leave everything open for a basic "no rules" contest, you can. If you want to force full Proto so nobody goes into the match without having access to high-level equipment, you can. If you want a "baseline" challenge with no skills or gear giving anybody an advantage, you can even do that.
This way, people could look at the rules, and decide to bet based on player skill, player SP, or what they know of the financial state of the players/Corps involved. |

To enter, you must pay an absurd amount. Say, 1 million ISK. If you die, you lose it all. For every kill, you gather that person's bounty. Thus, you are forced to work together OR you can be the lone wolf to walk away with millions.
Corp that funds the project obviously gets a cut. EVE can place bets on battles!
^not my original idea. Somebody else came up with it first. Sorry, i forgot your name, but i know this is your idea. Just spreading it!
Sounds fun question tho, how would injectors be handled within this context? (no allowed for use? no change?)

The gladiator arena E-sports is ALREADY CONFIRMED by CCP. Its coming whether we like it or not, so might as well make suggestions. They announced it last year at Fanfest 2012. |
