Come one come all to post ideas for the amazing galactic spectacle that is Gladiator Arena! As you might know, CCP will be bringing E-Sport to Dust 514, and they are calling it Gladiator Arena, and EVE and Dust players will be able to spectate and gamble on the outcomes of those matches; its all suppose to come in 2013 I think. The purpose of this thread is for us to post the kind of modes and features we would like to see in Gladiator Arena.
What I want to see:
Standard FPS modes like Deathmatch and Capture The Flag.
Fun unconventional modes, for example: A mode where each player is assigned 1 specific other player to hunt down as a target.
LAV, and dropship racing (and jets when they come).
Fighting genetically modified fauna, like a giant bug. There is life in New Eden besides human, and its perfectly conceivable that some life would get genetically modified if they will be used as entertainment tools against gladiators.
MTAC battles (MTACs are mechs that are planned to come in 2013).
Special rules and limitations for each of the above modes (like knives and pistols only, weapon pickups, or no respawn)
Extreme, and spectacular visually captivating combat areas. Imagine fighting in an Amaar stadium full of ornate architecture, gold, and glorious shining statues.
Post your ideas.
EDIT: Thought of a very defined specific idea. Ghost jump mode: Inspired by the "transfer of consciousness" respawn system of Dust 514. Many computer-piloted clones are all over the battlefield.
Players can highjack any of those computer-piloted clones by transferring their consciousness to it. Players can ditch a clone for a new one as soon as they want. No respawn times.
Kills give you points, and deaths make you lose points. Kills of computer-controlled clones give very few points, while killing player-possessed clones gives more points. The more points your victim had when you killed him, the more points you get.
This can be free-for all, or team vs team.
Whoever has the most points by the end of the battle wins.
The battle arena will be set up to make all of this possible, and would be quite a fun sport. I think there was another shooter with something similar to this, but can't think of what.
Bad Idea. They worked 6 years on the game and now you want to make it Quake 3 arena, plus if you don't able earn enough isk for a proto drop suit for Tournament playing in a pub you are bad and you will be steamrolled anyway. And of course you can almost max out your favorite suit and weapon module for it in about 2 months. DUST is not only FPS you need make some decision before you jump to battle and this decision are as important as the battle itself. Of course if CCP will smart they will allow make people contract with set parameters, for exampl
Contract 10m Map: Arena DropSuit allowed: Militia Assoult, Militia Scout Skill: Max skill 2 milion. Team size: 3 |
