Title says it all. These forums are like 1000x worse than mag forums ever were. We might actually start seeing some improvement if everyone here wasn't so busy smack talking each other and started giving solid input without trolling each other. I had high hopes for this game, and got very excited when i got my beta code the first round of releases, but if this community can't settle down and agree that there are fixes that need to be made and stop bad mouthing one another for whatever reasons, i am very afraid dust is gonna flop.
I just hope CCP isn't taking notes from either side, because both seem to be out to ruin this game, whether they know it or not. This game is not perfect as it is, and the excuse of "its just a beta" isn't valid anymore. If the game remains how it is now, it will turn into the same 60 people fighting each other because the mass majority will play for a week and leave(especially if this whole "its just a beta" mentality keeps going and nothing ever gets fixed. |

I agree with you in that people (myself included sometimes) get too involved in whatever Camp we are in. I personally have faith that CCP will get this right and they will fix the problems. This is like when America started exploring space, there will be mistakes but hopefully we will learn from them. |

Star hawk forums. The devs were great, and listened to a bickering community which tore the game apart. Sad thing was, I had more fun in the beta than in the final game. |

I agree wholeheartedly. Although there's been times when I've got a bit hot headed/defensive, but I've always sent an apology to my 'victim' via dust mail. I think alot of people get angry because they are defending a game they enjoy and don't like it when people come in here and rip it apart. Take the rude people with a grain of salt bro, most of us are a mature community (20-30yrs+) |

Well, you are certainly trying to help it seems, but can I point out one thing?
It IS still beta - I don't know who decided you are the one determining if this is beta or not but... the game is far from complete if you have any clue how advanced the EvE universe is AND there are plenty of trash talkers, but how is that different than in any other game - really.
#1 the devs are good at their job sifting through the crap #2 people love to trash talk, but I highly doubt that affects CCP's direction - they tend to listen to the real feedback
sorry to come off rude if I am but you really need to not be so pompous - most of this community is not trying to RUIN the game friend. Most of us are actually trying to help them. Yes, there are trolls and inconsiderate people playing, but most of us are not and I am extremely off put by your assumptions.
EDIT: PS - plenty has been fixed over the weeks and months - patience and constructive help has made this game get better and I think that CCP and the real beta testers would agree |

Yeah, sometimes I have to stop and remind myself that better for all the tantrums and whining and pointless complaining to go down now than two months from now.
And often it seems like a never ending circle of :
"This game is a beta!"
"That's because it's a beta!"
"But this game is a beta!"
"But that's because it's a beta!"
Unfortunately people will always complain. And it is easier to dismiss pointless comments with pointless answers than to try to tease out exactly what it is that a particular poster got upset about.
On the other hand, things are getting fixed. Big things. And they just disappear. Because there's nothing to complain about anymore so *poof* no more posts. One example, see any auto aim threads lately? Where have they gone? I have played with auto aim on and off and even on it is vastly improved over E3 build as far as I can tell and if it is jerking around with my admittedly already poor aim, I can just switch it off. It was a brilliant solution and a very nice added feature to let players toggle it on or off.
So "it's a Beta" will still stand in for htfu, stfu, and stop whining, things will continue to get fixed, and people that post on gaming forums will always get into fights. And I agree with your post you make a good point. |

If DUST fails, it will have a horrific impact on EVE and CCP. I don't play EVE and don't plan to, but I would hate to see this happen. I can see that CCP is making a great effort with DUST and it has great potential. I don't think the quality of the final game will be an issue, rather how many people will know about the final game.
Rockstar Games spends an above average amount of money on highly expensive advertising campaigns for all of their games, and it always results in a large number of sales. The key to success is advertising your product, and this product will be good. However, a good product simply won't cut it if nobody even knows it exists.
To this date, there are a lot of people that still don't know MAG even exists, due to Sony's reluctance to advertise the game. MAG was a quality title, very high on team work, with battles impacting the position of each PMC on the Shadow War, like DUST. MAG used skill points and a currency to upgrade your character with new skills and equipment, like DUST. DUST is a much more complex version of MAG, in essence.
Why am I discussing MAG? Well, that's goes back to the advertising. If DUST does not get the right advertising, it will end up like MAG, forgotten. CCP has to force Sony to help them out with some good advertising. The advertising, plus the fact that this game will launch at no cost will get a player base of at least 3 million. |

its a tragic place these forums, i actually came on here hourly to help it succeed and just didnt pay the trolls any mind but then when some are intentionally trying to imbalance the game to their favors for the sake of keeping their pristine records i took up the arms. i do my job as a tester in the right forum locations but when the dumbassary gets alittle crazy ive had to step in.
now i show up far less than before and only put my two cents in when a buddy wants me to check out threads for a laugh or for something that needs to be said other than that i have no need to be in here and it saves me captain morgan budget :D |

I remember starting a similar thread long ago.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=29832
It actually gained a lot of support because people were simply getting tired of others simply smack posting about how Eve players are better than FPS players and how FPS players are better than Eve players. The same can be said for the "Hi, I'm a PC... And I'm a Mac" camps.
Overall, we can all agree that this pointless bickering should stop because it ruins the overall development of the beta that is counting on us as a community to improve it and make it better than all the games out there. Both sides want the game to be better, so let's at least start with that as common ground. |

And all that "Qualative Quantity" will be crushed before your very eyes once friendly fire is enabled by CCP and corporations can spy on each other and cause all sorts of damage from within.
In Eve Online, there use to be a very powerful alliance known as Band of Brothers (BoB). They controlled almost everything from key regions that affected the high-sec markets to political power plays in the way corps were managed and enemies negotiated with.
Until an obscure alliance known as Goonswarm (GS) came along. Over the months or years their spy network infiltrated BoB via a disgruntled director who didn't like how things were in BoB. The, one day, without firing a single shot, BoB was disbanded. Their assets stolen, territory left wide open for opposing forces to seize and their political power grip was taken away from them. Many players from around BoB wanted CCP to undo the damage because they felt that no one person should have that much of an impact.
But CCP left it alone saying that "no rules were broken" and that BoB is the one at fault for not being careful enough to check which director should have which powers and authorities.
My point here is that there are two kinds of battles to be fought in every battle. That on the ground (as you pointed out) and that in the corporate room (which I pointed out). Master the corporate room and the ground war and you will be dangerous beyond measure. |

Gotta say, haven't played for 2/3 weeks, but loving the update. Got a 12/2 match a moment ago, in Milita Gear! the beta has only been up for 3 weeks? Where the hell did you get that idea, Kengfa? Well, he says he hasn't played for 2/3. Which would be 2 out of 3 weeks.
Really? I just thought that was his way of saying 2 to 3 weeks. Oh well. |

@Maken
EVE players might enjoy that but the rest of the world plays VG for fun and to be screwed by anyone that can think about something like spying, stealing, or cheating. It took years to take BoB down but give me a corporation of campers and I will ruin the experience of Dust for thousandths of players in 2 minutes form the start of any match...I won't of course.
For EVE players might be fun to loose years of gaming but not for the rest of the world. FPS players don't like their stats erased or loose everything they have unlocked because someone played dirty/unfairly. Bringing the EVE freedom to Dust, to a FPS, is dangerous because you can be unfair far easier and far more often in a FPS then in EVE.
Many, I dare say most, come to VG because are a place where the "risk of real life" are not present and CCP must tell them "Dust is not the game for you". |

Isn't is ironic that the trolling is worse in here than MAG but all the players trolling are from MAG. Got to love players who really try to step up their game and show what matters to them. |

I think the Devs should put a MAG players vs. Eve players match because right now that seems to be the biggest rivalry on here :D

#1 the devs are good at their job sifting through the crap #2 people love to trash talk, but I highly doubt that affects CCP's direction - they tend to listen to the real feedback sorry to come off rude if I am but you really need to not be so pompous - most of this community is not trying to RUIN the game friend. Most of us are actually trying to help them. Yes, there are trolls and inconsiderate people playing, but most of us are not and I am extremely off put by your assumptions. EDIT: PS - plenty has been fixed over the weeks and months - patience and constructive help has made this game get better and I think that CCP and the real beta testers would agree
Here is the KEY problem that a lot of people are complaining about, the gameplay (shooting and movement mechanics) are bad: - frame rates stutters - environment rendition lags - hit detection is on an off at best - strafing (turning gun around) feels floaty - movement feels floaty as well and needs more 'weight' - shooting people isn't really a skill contest but more of learning how to 'lead' your shot (shooting ahead of the enemy)
The thing is, CCP is going full steam ahead with Singularity, expanding into corp battles, slowly opening up the game to the EVE universe, BUT the gameplay mechanics are not up to par. This has me very concerned as it most likely means the devs are satisfied with how gameplay works right now and are going to test out the rest of the game (EVE, economy, politics, MMO aspect, etc.) BEFORE fixing these issues.

yea but it made me sound smarter than i really am in case I have to PUG for some place holders in my squad
now about the post above this one.. yes the shooting mechanics are bad vs scout but I'm getting better at killing them, it's like their graphic is lagging waaay behind their actual hit box and you have to lead them by an obscene amount even in CQC |

I think it's a combination of FPS players who want dumbed-down casual gameplay, FPS players with egos who think they know everything just because they're good at MAG or CoD or Halo, and EVE players who think of console FPS players as clueless mouthbreathers, worthy only of bombarding from orbit.
Basically you have people coming from vastly different perspectives who want be to be different things, combined with massive egos of some players.
Once the game launches, I think it will be better. EVE has one of the better communities in online gaming, and hopefully some of that will carry over to DUST. |

the guy with the biggest ego wins in the forums lol.. it's been that way for years... there is little tolerance for humility or humanity.. there is no tolerance for a peaceful exchange of knowledge.. one does not simply trade knowledge without battle.. j/k
