Personally I think that the health/shield is much to similar to call of duty. I have always hated how fast you die in call of duty and this game is too similar.
I find that even though I use the heavy suits I still die too fast. And that my bullets rarely hit the mark when in a heated battle. That causes me to feel ever so frustrated. Mostly because a little lag can mean the difference between life and death, I mean honestly we are in space suits with shields. I think it would take alittle more to kill something lIke that.
More on sheilds. The sheilds seem so pointless when they can't last up to more than five bullets when you have 40+ being fired under a few seconds. Maybe crank up the sheilds and make them seem like a sheild... Just my recent thoughts |

my assault suit has just over 550 combined health.
in the last build, before the character wipe, i had well over 700.
you have to realize that the game as you are experiencing it, is not "how it is" it's "how it is when a newbie gets stomped on by a veteran"
skillpoints and gear matter. try to tough it out. |

I feel oppositely. Today, I killed 5 people even though I had zero in both health and shield. My shields would regenerate then they would shoot them back down. I know this is a problem because I SUCK at this game. I feel that the shields are just a bit to good right now.
P.S. I have a standard Militia Assault Dropsuit. |

That's why we have shields, to soak a bit of damage and regenerate over time. If you went up against someone with a prototype suit and weapons you would be dead in 2 seconds or less and their shields would barely have a dent in them. |

Can't forget this part too. Is the simple fact if we all had exactly the same equipment some would do way better than others. Just a fact. not saying your bad just how video games are as a whole. |

Keep in mind that although we may have advanced shields and armor, we also have advanced weaponry, so the two kind of cancel each other out.
Also, if you feel you're still dying to fast, find a logistics guy and stick close to him. We logis are always looking to revive, repair, and resupply our teammates. We're the ones with the backpacks that look like they've got little wings on 'em.
Oh, one more thing; if you're using the starter assault fit at all, swap out the shield recharger for the shield extender. That extra buffer is more useful in combat. Same idea applies to all suits, but an armor rep is generally worth it since armor doesn't regen naturally. Though if you stick with your logis, you won't need an armor rep since they'll cover that for you. |

heavy suits should not rely overly much on shields, there is one suit with 300 shields and only 500 armor, but that is the exception.
Try fitting armor plates or an armor repairer, or both if you can, into the low power slot/s.
Heavies arent so great at run and gun, they have to be able to stand and take it for long enough to see the other guy dead. If you find yourself dying alone alot, try speccing into Heavy Machine Gun and trying to run with others.... spew out massive amounts of short to medium range damage to get everyones attention while the assault suits clean everyone up-the HMG can't be ignored if its in your face, but at range it gets very weak....
just remember everything has its pay off: if something is good in one area is sucks in another, play to your strengths and pay heed to your weaknesses. |

as a heavy make sure you are leveling the mechanics, armor repair, and armor upgrades skills. I currently have a type-I heavy with almost 1100 armor hitpoints just from basic armor plates and having mechanics to level 4.
the way ive been using heavies lately is a) on skirmish wait till i get to more of a bottleneck area then switch over to it, using scout at the start to quick cap objectives. b) on ambush, certain maps favor heavies more, the ones with installations, since everyone is grouped together. the larger ambush maps heavies are vastly outmatched, and i tend to stay with my assault suit, until there are a few LAVs zipping around or someone brings in a tank |

I have worked out the number of direct hits required to kill even the basic militia heavy suit - it ranges from 1 hit by the basic forge gun to 24 Assault rifle hits to 44 HMG hits |

that sounds like a lot from HMG, but you have to take in to account the fire rate. can probly land 44 HMG shots before one forge gun blast, depending on the forge of course |

If you're going to be a heavy find your own personal logi. if you have a mic, i'm your man. Anyways, a logi with a heavy is almost unstoppable, as long as the logi is smart. I was supporting one of my friends in a heavy suit and forge gun (basic heavy and standard forge mind you) and we stayed alive for at least 5 minutes in the middle of an ambush firefight. And this is blobs collide ambush He shot, i repaired. If an assault turned a corner, I hid behind him and repaired. He died, I rezzed him with a nanite injector. We totally rofl stomped an lav that came after us. i lured him in and BOOOM, forge gun lullaby. But seriously, heavies are good, but with a personal logi, they are the definition of godmode. Oh, and the end of the story, he got pincered by 4 assaults while we were retreating and died before i could rez him. He took one down with him. Needless to say i went beastmode after his death and killed the 3 remaining assaults in under 1 clip of my assault rifle (60 shots). FEAR THE WRATH OF THE LOGI! So, closing remarks, everyone is squishy, find a personal/squad logi, use cover, be suspicious of easy kills (but not too suspicious mind you), and don't get the logi angry. Oh, and if you can kill the logi, the heavy will die quickly. |

This is the truth.
I use scout suits primarily and rarely die more than 2-3 times in a round... It's not because of any huge benefit of the suit, or because I am hiding; It's because I play to the suit's strengths - I dictate when I get in a firefight. Granted, this fails sometimes, and usually in a spectacular fashion when it does. From playing this beta, I have noticed that each of the suits have their strengths, and if you play to them, you can do quite well.
Also, for the new people: The swarm launcher is useless against infantry. I am really enjoying you running straight at me in your slow heavy while I charge and line up a head shot. You are making my job very easy. |

And prices are so high while game rewards are so low that you should get used to wearing the militia suits. Unless of course you want to fork out some real world money for Aurum and then you can save isk while using aurum on the best weapons and armor. Only other option is to join a huge Eve corp and access their 10 year built up stack of shiny gold (and pray some **** doesn't come in and steal it all, as seems to happen in Eve). |

As you level up skills you will see a big difference, run with a group and play to you and your suit strengths. Try and pick your fights and run with a group. Two or three mercs working together will do well and a full squad with mics and teamwork are hard to beat. |

I run with a 25k isk logi suit and i make about 10k isk profit or more per game. I also die a lot less, which is funny because it only has one more shield extender and 12 more shots per clip in my assault rifle. But the only reason that no one has money is that no one is using their money. According to the manual you get more isk in games where there's higher level gear, ie. cost them more, you earn more. The cycle wont break until everyone starts using their isk, then more isk will be flowing around. thats why i decided to fight solely in my logi type 1. I'm sitting on 1 mil isk thinking "why dont i try my more expensive dropsuit?" My kd now tops 2 in almost every game, and ive had a good number over 5 kd games, even had one 11kd game. just because my gear is that little bit better. and when i do die, i know im helping the cause of putting more isk in the system |

This is what you do:
1). If yr a heavy, use the hmg, not an ar, ull be better off 2). Upgrade mechanics to lv5 3). Buy type I dropsuit, as especially for a heavy will give u extra high/low (i believe, idk fully off hand) 4). make sure using armor plate & repair, and use shield extenders, ull be rolling up to 800 total hp then, possibly more

I for one feel like i have to shoot for ever to kill someone. I am however very used to COD. It just seems to me that i should be able to get the jump on someone and kill them before they have time to start jumping spin around and then have our shootout turn into a dancing match. |
