My mistake. Should have defined what I meant by 'large number' better.
By large number I meant in terms of the multi-millions of people playing the big boxed FPS games on the consoles. CCP surely aren't going to want to appease people who want instant gratification at the cost of losing those who want to build their skill-sets and buy things from the market. |

This is the point i was trying to make! 'Instant gratification' is all the big bulk of the console community want! Its a relatively casual audience! Ergo, dust 514 will not do well on console. It NEEDS to be on pc n pc only |

And if you think that the market is a bunch of "economic intricacies" then you clearly have a very simple mind. The market system is very simple and streamlined. Just because you can choose from more than 10 guns doesn't mean its complicated, it just means you have options.
Also this economic system is NOTHING like EVE's complexities. Even dabbling in the most basic of trading in EVE, it makes Dust look like a picture book compared to the NYSE. |

Well it takes about 2 months of playing EVE to really get a good grasp on the game. It takes about 2 hours to get a good grasp on Dust. They dont even compare. |

Quit being such a bigot why is a fellow Gallente like this u need to switch to amarr they have that personality. Besides calling u out i dont want to be involved, im waiting for CCP to mention how market will be first. I hate people who think they r better than others and Eve wants to create this war between us im sick of it.

That's besides the point. It's going to be on the PS3. The folks at CCP surely know what they're doing... there will be a market for this game on the PS3, it's just unikely to be exactly the same demographic as some of the big FPS.
What I'm trying to say here is, don't bemoan the concept of a market/skills based system. It's what makes this game stand out from the crowd and it's what will help make the game something that people will play for years. I'm not clairvoyant; I don't know if it will work out and Dust will be a success, but it's my opinion that if this game does succeed, then it will be by initially serving a smaller (read 10s of thousands) number of loyal players and then to gradually grow that player-base over the coming years. |

IMHO the OP is wrong about DUST 514 needing to be PC only. It can live happily on the PS3. But he is right about the console having a distinct style of play and learning that has to be respected.
Console first person play has an element of learning through clues in the environment. That element is not fully exploited in the DUST 514 world. An example.
In the Fitting screen there is a "New Fitting" button. That's good. A clue to the observant that there is more here than looking at fittings. But what happens to the new player if he presses it? He gets the option to replicate one of the default suits -- including all the pre-load.
How would he know he has more options if he goes to the market and buys a suit and other items? You can always say RTFM. But that isn't in the game environment in the same way that a clue or a button is.
The current build has nice additions to make this easier. The "Go to market" button in item replace is one. But the attitude has to be more pervasive to fully benefit from the abilities of first person console game play. |

If ppl want a game that is "instant gratification", go play CoD of BF....This game is FROM the makers of EVE so if ppl dont like that Dust is becoming "sort of" like EVE, GTFO! Eve has survived on 10's of thousands of players for 9 years, so why wont Dust? Ppl, get a f**kin clue.... SMFH |
