PIsh you guys quite down. 30-1 You fly a eryx with proto swarms hunting you down and have both your gunners go 39-0 38-0 and then come back and tell me it takes no skill.
Or pull off matches going 30-0 with blaster turret as you main with 4 other sagaris/surya tank kills during that match.
Tanks do take skill to do well now adays.
Now yes I agree a idiot can get in a sagaris and pull off 10kills. per tank. But in the end he is broke and only affording his Tank every 5th game.
Do I run other builds. Yess I have logistics proto set up which currently gets turned into cron breach rifle snacks because the ****** health.
But if I have a decent team I can also pull off 15-20 kills with 1-2 deaths. You need to remember my weapon skills are **** I have 0 points put into them so all I have is decent tank. But with buff I will have a amazing one because of shield skills. And A bunch of advanced weapons.
Do tanks/drop ships take skill yes they do if you want to be coming out ahead on the iskies and aford 30m worth of tank set ups in stock at all times. Which equals 8 different builds with vastly different set ups and modoles used.
Do I agree that a player lacking in skill can get into a sagaris/surya and do better then usuall yes.
But then again. I go give a player your fully proto out drop suit with 15-20m skill points backing it up I bet he coes alot bettter there also. :)
I am just sick of these morons running around in fully proto gear backed up with all lvl 4/5 skills on top of that complaining about how something takes no skills when there suit itself takes away the need for skills to win. Then they brag about there 30+ kills that they get once every 5 games.
Dudes get over yourselfs. Your in the same boat as a well skill sagaris/surya pilot.
But yes I agree people like you PEEEEET belong on the battle field. If your in a tank your wasting your ability to be a great infantry support needed to win the game.
But people like me who role in with a tank clear a objective out then turn half the team into people selecting anti tank builds. Help you guys kick so much ass because the enemy team is to concentrated on taking me out. :) And you kill them thus keeping them from hurting me.:)
@Noc Hopefully next time I face you there are less proto forge gunners on your team. Got you once You got me then had you a 3rd time and got destroyed by 2 proto forge gunners right before me last shot needed to pop you. You where sitting duck I had already exceeded your turret turn speed and you missed me twice. Then I went from 50% shields to being popped in 1 second. It is always fun going tank on tank against another decent tank driver when there is no AV people interfering. :) |

Anyone else just feel like a waste in a vehicle? Sorry... but have you not herd DUST is the PS3 version of TANK WARS Tanks are not OP. They are just pretty hard to kill. With a little group effort, and not a whole lot of that even, they die pretty easily. That is the problem. You need group effort to take out 1 tank, while a tank can take out a group with no effort. Not really balanced...... Especially when I put 3 proto av grenades and 10 REs into one and it doesn't even get half the shield down.....
But when it dies, that's half their match profits gone up in smoke. Cost / risk / reward. Settle in and wait for the next build when militia vehicles are no more. I just bought my first T1 dropship and my jaw hit the floor at the improvement in stats. Holy balls. No more getting glass-jawed out of the sky, whee!
But yeah. Once teamwork settles into the game and people specialise into anti-tank roles tanks will have their place, just as the AR trooper will. And that place will be hiding from Forge gunners.
But as someone whose on-foot gun game isn't so crash hot, I like gunning in tanks, but not driving them. I get kileld driving them. A lot. |

I fully respect the OP's opinion and agree with it. Everyone has their role that they are good at, and every role has a place in game.
now, for the others.....
Reality arguments aside, imagine a middle eastern fighter yelling at Americans because we have more than 5 tanks on the field, with an unlimited wallet, and they have nothing.....
Direct similarity with corporations and their wallets from EVE?
you dont have to like it, but you will have to deal with it..... |

Anyone else just feel like a waste in a vehicle? I, personally, am not the best at shooting. I'm competent, and at times I can pull off some impressive moments, but in general, I prefer to run support.
As a result, my K/D is hovering around the 0.3 mark, but I'm fine with that. When I ride in a vehicle, I'm a gunner who doubles as a repper between cooldowns. Tank gets hit hard, we fall back, and I boost the repair process. |

For those claiming that tanks should require team effort to take down:
When do we non-pilots get access to such super weapons? I mean I don't see any Portable-nukes for AV-builds or super bullet shields or armor regen for assaults or scouts in the marketplace.
See the problem?
Besides a tank pilot doesn't reap the benefits from this alone as he and two of his friends can join him on his low-risk high reward slaughter fest. |

Swarm Launchers can be pretty insanely nasty if you're good with them.
So yeah, we DO get super-destructive AV weapons.
When non-specialist AV players are saying that tanks are OP, and most tank users are complaining that AV is OP, I'm pretty sure the balance is about where it should be. |

I don't just stick to being gunner. I'm also a good combat medic, and decent at AV
But I agree with the main point you're making - Different people are good at different things, sometimes even within the same game. It's legitimate for the drivers and pilots to ask if you want to be a gunner, but if you say "no" they need to respect that. I've seen some who don't - but I've also seen some who refuse to let their teammates join them, because they don't want someone "stealing" their kills.
Also, I'm a VERY bad driver (irl and in DUST land vehicles), but I've called in HAVs for teammates a few times before. They drive, I man the guns and patch them up when we're getting shot. Good times. |

Tanks take skill lol no
Mainly because infantry doesnt have enough AV stuff to take out tanks yet and also no grouping so we really cant test what it takes to really hit one hard
Most tanks roll around fine for the full game
Large missile turret so that even if they dont hit you they can hit the wall behind you and take away your shields and basically spam the ******* thing everywhere and thts not including 2 gunners who do the same thing
Until the tanks have to carry ammo and have to reload then it wont be so bad, introduce grouping and you can go for that tank instead of being stuck with micless morons, add in more AV equipment such as AV mines in the rig slots so assault can also carry some then it will also be better and they may not feel so defenseless |

None of the things you mentioned makes Prototype AV weapons super-destructive. You'll still need a dozen shots with with Prototype forge gun to take down a well equipped tank. Prototype Swarm launcher is pretty much a joke against the top-tier tanks with correct fittings.

and yes I am playing av-specialist (Grendror) You may not necessarily KILL every tank you fight, but area denial is more important than destruction when it comes to vehicles. If you're good, tanks that stay where you don't want them die, and tanks that don't die stay away from the place you want to control. Either of these counts towards a victory. |

Some do, some don't.
The quality of tanks seems to vary quite a lot, some of them seem to be made from paper and some of them don't even flinch when you throw swarms and AV-nades against them. |

It's not going to go down if you're attacking it alone.
Several AV players working together and playing well can get rid of it.
If you're lone AV guy, and the other team has more than one tank, then your teammates are idiots. |

This seems to always be true, considering that Dust 514 is attracting a ridiculous amount of CoD style players, most of them have self trained themselves to run around little hyenas looking for kills.
being able to call down a Sargeris tottally knocks them off their horse. Not to mention that having objectives that actually make sense and effect the overall game.
So far we only have a fraction of the vehicles that will be available in the full game. So if you guyz can't handle some of the lowest vehicles? then go back to CoD. We are loving watching you squirm. |

Anyone else notice the 2 arguments?
"This game should not be pay to win!!" "Why are tanks so underpowered?"
Tanks give you an advantage of sorts, but they don't break the game. If infantry can go toe to toe with tanks, then that's called balance. Tanks are just a little easier to get kills for the average player, therefore, they cost a lot.
