After many long years of the capsuleers alone enjoying post-mortality, we too have been gifted life eternal.
We are the first mercenaries in history that are not paid to risk our lives. We are paid simply to do our job. We don't fight for ideals. We don't fight for glory. We don't fight for freedom.
We fight for money. Lots of it.
Disclaimer: Sure, as far as the "game" is concerned, there are still things to be done-- balance weapons and suits, vehicles... complete maps and integrate with EVE. Stats and slots and properties will change. As as for the way it plays... I'd say it's fine.
That guy that parked the dropship on the tower and is raining hatred and death down upon your heads? Good for him. He made a plan and stuck to it. Now make yours and take him out.
Enemy overran the map, captured all the points and has your team backed into a corner? Shame, that. There are at least 3 ways out of this situation if you have the training and determination. Not to mention this was easy to prevent in the first place.
Spawnkilled for the 3rd time at point B? Think next time. Your map shows you when points are being hacked, or are in process of being taken over, and if you've been killed on spawn more than once there it's your own fault.
I can go on and on, but the basic idea is the same. Use what you have available to you, most importantly, your brain. I run a minimum of 3 Type II Assault suit fits and at least 2 Type I Heavy fits, a combined minimum of three weapon types and tank combos I can choose upon spawn. If something isn't working, THINK. Try a different strategy, different weapon, recharge instead of buffer tank... something. Don't whine about nerfing **** because you're a lousy mercenary.

+1 for this!
Also, Dropships! Pilots, learn to fly dropships with MRU's or at least wait for gunners. It's a rather useless vehicle without anyone else onboard besides you. Use them! And the rest of you, start using dropships as they should be used. If one is near you and the pilot's waiting, get in! He's either looking for gunners or passengers to take to an objective.
And for the love of god, learn to use your gear people. There are basically 3 types of equipment in Dust (and EVE too for that matter). These are armour tankers, shield tankers and speed tankers. Learn to identify them and use them appropriately.
- Armour tanker - Has MORE armour than shields and designed for armour repair units. Buy those and train up any armour skills. The same goes for armour plating.
- Shield tanker - Has LESS armour than shields and designed for shield regeneration units. Buy those and train up any shield skills. The same for shild extenders/regererators.
- Speed tanker - Has weak armour and shields. With these you have to keep moving FAST. Speed is your defence. Your gunners should never get the easy shot while standing still. If you stop, you die. DRIVE!

We are about to join a game that will take much more intelligence than simple domination, tdm, and capture the flag.
We will not be paid to fight fair and not use overpowered weapons, we get paid to win. If eve was balanced in the same way an fps was you would be able to take down any ship with any other ship.
Players will have to specialize in a single role for their team. They will have to sacrifice getting 30 kills a match to be the person that takes out air support, the designated healer, the player who stays back and stares at the map and calls out orders.
I hope when we integrate with eve that a large number of people will quit because they find it to complicated compared to COD/BF3. Then the serious players will come out. |

We are beta testing and we are supposed to be finding imbalances and giving our opinion... I get the feeling that alot of you evetards think we should just play and shut up like its the perfect game. Well its not and ccp knows this, yet the fanboy in all of you are trying to act like it is. This is a console game not a PC game. The game needs to cater to casual console gamers to a certain extent while still holding its complexity and competitive nature.. If it doesn't it will fail plain and simple and then no one will play the game exept for the PC gamers that it was created for and beta tested by.
There is some serious ignorance and fanboyism going around this forum. Please get off your high horse and let us console gamers beta test this game and give feedback without being trolled. thank you that is all.
The community is already trying to silence our voice and it is sad because the game will fail without good console gamer feedback.

Good point about spawns. Something will need to be done, but what should it be? Randomization of drop-in location at the point you're spawning at? Invulnerability timer like other games (not a big fan of this idea, but all things being equal, it could happen). There's bound to be something... I'm just not sure what would work without introducing a subsequent lame strategy to combat the change.

Personally, I think spawns on points should be set up in waves, so every 20 seconds or so have some RDV's drop off the clones. Maybe they could be launched towards the ground at higher speeds than just dropping out of a dropship, or they could just be launched from drop-pods straight from the Warbarge.

No. And again no. You're trying to fix the current map which is totally not the issue. This map is a sample. More than that, it's a beta only map. No battle in Dust will actually take place on this map ever again. Dust maps will be random to an extent and then corps will place building on them as they see fit (within physical limits set by CCP). Battles will also add an extra bit to this as you will be able to drop installations (turrets, resupply, clones etc') wherever you want during battle. You'll just need to own those installations in advance.
Now, about dropship "camping". It's not camping. It's a good strategy which utilizes a lot of skill. Do you have any idea what it takes to keep a dropship alive? Good pilots are very hard to find. Good gunners too. So it's not an exploit. It's good healty thinking and planning. Even when the spawn points become random around a spot it'll still be valid. Would just required more watchful gunners. |

When there are 2 good pilots flying around in the sky and killing everything on the map the game is almost unplayable. Its turns into a cat and mouse game. If there are good pilots in the sky I hide and just hope I find someone to kill on the ground. The dropships need to be nerfed.

When there are 2 good pilots in the sky and each has 2 gunners that's half the opposing team not taking objectives. You're basically a 12 person team against 6. Use your 12 people to take down the dropships. Get some missiles on them. Get tanks on them. Hell, get a turret and shoot at them. Don't blame the 2 dropships for your incompetent team.
If things get really bad, call in a dropship of your own and either take them down with gunners or just ram them out of the sky. Both are tactics I've used myself. |

I never had a problem with dropships on towers.
When I get camped when spawning on an objective, I spawn somewhere else a fly a militia dropship to there. This DOES NOT mean it is ok that spawns would be so predictable on objectives, it doesn't tactically make sense either. Why would a professional merc commander have such a singular, close, and predictable spawn point when he knows his troops are being massacred there? This is an issue with the game.
When all spawn points are lost but the basic one, I use to try to call in a militia dropship to escape, but that never survived 3 seconds after I got in. I use to try to run away to plant a drop uplink, but I never survived the pack of hunters. I try to just fight them off with swarm launchers, and can work in my experience; regardless, THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE! Such a singular and predictable spawn is a game issue, and it is tactically illogical for any mercenary, immortal or not. |

I agree with your opinion. ItGÇÖs also true that the game need some updating.
But its was always the same, in every game I have played so far. There are always some people who mistake their stupidity for unbalancing.
This problem is not new to guys who work on projects (like me), the thing is you only hear the people who complain about something. Or have you ever created a topic to say: everything is nice the way it is. So you hear only the bad things even if there are only 1% of people who donGÇÖt like it and 99% of people who like it.
For example: Snipers, knifes, tanks, assault rifles, campers, rusher, ponies whatever itGÇÖs always other people fault. And most of these games will end in a joke, because after 10.000 nerv updates the players are running in circles and shoot for 5 min. on each other in order to kill someone.
Sometimes I wish the developers wouldnGÇÖt listen to gamers and make the game the way they like it to be. |
