This Post was made showing a Doc that had a story called "Will New Eden Burn?" but due to this post the Doc was lock. That is until now. So for all of you that didn't get to read the story it is officialy out now.
Will New Eden Burn?
It is connected to the Post I made called FPS PLayers are DUMB that was in regard to Nameless514.blogspot.com post of almost the same name.
Not only has a High Rep of the Goons ( @GSFCourthouse) labeled us (FPS Players) as not being smart enough to organize, he has went on to say GǣHonestly the average EVE player is kind of dumbGǪGǥ in the latest episode of PODSIDE (ep. 13 at the 13 min

Well i could honestly care less about who these EVE players are (or whoever) They arent Gods "striking us down" from orbit, have they forgotten we can hit their asses back with planetary defenses?
I typically laugh at people like this in ANY game dont get me wrong, i LOVE video games, ive been playing practically my whole life and i do take them seriously when challenges arise, but i mean, c'mon hahaha

to hit them back you better hope they are warp scram'd or distrupted or they can just get off the grid when they hear from their side that the skyfire is primed and ready to fire.
but those mechanics are sill to be determinded.
EDIT: lol again at seeing EV on dusters blog. WITH MORE COMMENTS. they are so funny sometimes. |

You know funny enough I find that mostEVE players are, and can be actually very mature, and friendly. There are plenty that contrary to how EVE is portrayed in articles more oftne then not whom will gladly help you understand, and learn to play EVE. Not everyone in EVE I believe is going around trying to rob others for ISK, or trying to tank the economy in some malicious way.
Anyway. I think it's somewhat odd to see an article, but again I do not play EVE, and I do not know those people. So for now I'll just keep my opinions to myself on that matter. |

And i dont believe all EVE players are out to rob for ISK earthier. I have met some EVE vets who play Dust who are eager to build friendly alliances and make mad money with Dusters. |

For the most part this is just bluster from both sides. No-one knows what the actual mechanics will be.
IF the war barge has to be delivered/flown to the planet then attacking 0.0 is gonna be real hard.
IF when the barge is there it can be attacked from space it will be impossible to hold 0.0 planets
WHEN there is likely to be a 24hr countdown to invasion, there will no true 'surprise attacks.' |

Goonfleet is {ultra capitalistic} in its gameplay. They don't subsidize their own members, they even demand isk from their own corp mates for scouting from system to system.
They say it's a good way for newbs to make isk. They demand a lot and if you fail in gameplay they make you a living example of a sucker. Without the remorse that we are used to giving to players who make mistakes. Making mistakes is allowed for those who fly **** such as basic t1 fitted cruisers and frigates as those don't matter at all in the grand scheme of things. What is important for Goonfleet is that those (the "mass" of Goonfleet) log in for every major fight they have, for fun.
"A few examples to give you the idea. Last night we killed "their" carrier. We laughed at its fit in local for them to hear. Any normal corp would be ashamed because of that fit as it was so horrible it would have lowered their morale. But in Goonfleet's case our smack talk and that carrier's bad fitting was instantly turned into a benefit.
They smack talked their own carrier pilot two times as hard as we could ever have done. In their eyes, he was an idiot who never deserved to play in Goonfleet. A guy who can't read FAQs, a guy who can't fit a ******* carrier
Our smack talk didn't hurt them, infact he was most likely someone who was not too liked in GF in the first place. Poor SOB who tried to act as a useful entity of the hive but failed.
No one bothered to even check if his fittings were combat ready and now he's the laughing stock of their entire alliance.
Of course shooting the carrier gave us an advantage. They lost resources, they lost isk, and killing a ship (especially a cap ship) provides us with benefits. But we can instantly lose that benefit if we try to make fun of it, since they out of all people can make it look good for their alliance and not like a bad thing"
That gives them the number advantage but the point is that their "mass" does not log in if there is nothing to make fun of. Their community revolves around the fact that they can laugh at other people and if there aren't other people to laugh at, they will joke about each other or flame their own members in their various chat channels. **** absolutely has to be fun in GF all the time.

Another reason to be proud of their alliance leader. He's calling a GM a ****** and he's doing it within the boundries of EVE rules. He's not getting banned, he's playing right on the spot here.
Remedial then proceeds to post this on their forums making him look like a hero in their eyes. The funniest guy on the ******* internet! This makes Lokta Voltera LV look like whiny fucks who deserve all the grief and being ****** with.

What are all these replies about that EVE players can attack a planet with their ships while a game is in session?
I thought this was an FPS not a space sim? Could anyone give more info on this or tell me where the devs posted this information I definitely missed it somewhere, thanks to all who reply. |

I don't understand why there's this giant "anti-goon" campaign in the first place. I play EVE and I stay out of Goonspace. The universe is realistically too big for them to chase me around every system I frequent without over-extending themselves into territory they are not welcome in. I anticipate that DUST will be the same way.
The EVE universe is a giant self-regulating sandbox: if someone with a near-infinite supply of ISK decided they wanted to corner the high-sec missile market in Caldari space they would never accomplish that task because SOMEONE would do direct sales to players as it would then be the advantageous thing to do. Even if that didn't happen, players can train up manufacturing skills and make them on their own. The amount of effort required to "bust" the market in any given commodity in a relatively moderate amount of space is pretty much unattainable and even if attained, is certainly unsustainable over long periods of time.
So let's say that you try and bust Goonswarm. Do you realize that you'd then be fighting every single merc in the game? Do you truly not understand how much ISK they have? I promise you that if you tried to get things off the ground in low/null sec, and they REALLY did not like you that you would exist for maybe a day on any given planet. Dangle a 50MM completion contract over my head and I'll kill anyone for any reason in game.
To clarify: I don't care if you're a goon, a merc, a dolphin, or whatever. I am a gun for hire. I go where the money is and have no political connections [u]whatsoever[u]. Would things be easier if I had a planet of my own to do stuff? Maybe, but I'll contract that management out. Do what you're good at, that's what my Dad used to say... and I'm quite proficient when it comes to fragging idiots, not so much with running planets.
TL;DR Version: Stop posting propaganda and trying to suck people into your campaign to pick a fight with the largest, most well funded, nihilistic corporation in EVE. It is not only a pointless battle that you won't win, but is also unprofitable, and personal. Disguising yourself behind the anonymity of the internet and multiple accounts (Nameless 514 is Zion Shad if you haven't figured it out yet) is a terrible thing, especially when it's done with the intention of suckering people in to your cause. When this game goes live I will hold no enmity towards you... but if the money is good I will take every pleasure in wiping you off the servers. |

Was hoping for an answer to my question but no replies yet.
I thought the devs clearly stated that :
1. EVE players cannot transfer their ISK over to DUST 514
2. DUST 514 is a completely separate game from EVE - which equates to EVE players not being able to bombard planets with anything they have from EVE into DUST 514 as it is an FPS not space sim, completely different game

It's not a completely separate game. Eventually pilots and mercs will be in the same corps and alliances. Bombardment will be performed by pilots which will most likely result in fleet fights. |

I'm pretty confident that the Eve players will surely help Dust expand like they did with Eve. Knowing them personally, they will jump at the opportunity of being the first to fire their guns for an orbital strike. Considering that battleships and dreads will be used in this and that such ships are common in fleet battles, there is no doubt that those pod pilot will feel more happy to have a greater purpose.
In this case, at least for the Dust mercs who are doing contracts that take them into low-sec or null-sec, there will be no doubt that they will know that there are more than 32 players on the battlefield when they see that they have a 500-800 ship support fleet battling a 500-800 ship enemy fleet high above their heads.
Planets are of importance to Eve power blocs that rely on them for supplying some of the fuel for Player-Owned Structures (POS) which are important for operating research labs for invention as well as assembly arrays for the production of supercapitals. POSes are also important for maintaining the operation of Jump bridges that allow fleets of ships to traverse through a dozen star systems in a single jump, thus cutting travel time by more than half. To any corporation and alliance, time is money after all.
When Planetary Interaction (PI) was first introduced in the Tyrannis Expansion of Eve, players didn't think it would work. But as time went on and as savvy industrialists studied the design of PI production (after various iterations and hotfixes by CCP), it became evident that PI will play a crucial role in cutting down cost of maintaining and manufacturing a POS. In fact, a single player with enough planets and patience can produce a single POS from planetary interaction alone with the exception of having to purchase a few units of capital construction parts straight from the market.
I have tried this before and I was surprised by how easy it was. If you have two accounts and three alts each and with a dedicated hauler, you can produce a single POS rather quickly if you spread the production chains across multiple characters. It's complex to manage as I had to do a lot of calculating and preparations, but it is doable and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only player doing this. This is assuming you are producing from planets in high-sec. In low-sec or null-sec, the resources are more plentiful per planet and therefore much easier and faster to produce and supply a POS.
PI is also used for the production of POS modules such as labs, assembly arrays, shield modules, and much more including (drum roll, please) a Player-Owned Customs Office (POCO) which are deployed and anchored by players over low-sec and null-sec planets after the NPC customs offices have been destroyed to help bypass the import/export tax and instead pass the tax and control it against other PI users who want a piece of the pie you made.
Of course, CCP hasn't been clear so far as to how Dust mercs will affect the PI structures (command centers, harvesters, processors, etc.) if the battles are going to be over districts. CCP, can you please elaborate on this? |

Well this will definitely change my opinion of DUST. Granted I don't know really anything about EVE other than when I tried the beta before it's release it had the worse keyboard control that I ever seen in a game, which is why I didn't test it long, was an utter mess.
So going off what you said and some others, we can be involved in a battle on a planet and some EVE player in the biggest ship can just come along and blow our planet up while we are in the middle of a game session?
What's the point of this being an FPS game if they allow that kind of stupid game integration? That will kill this title fast as non EVE players will ditch it. |

there will be structures on the planets as well that can shoot back at the ships in space shooting you. The whole point of Dust as well as Eve is to expand the world of New Eden, where both eve and dust take place.
yes they are two seperate games, yes they interact together. Dust is geared towards a type of player that will eventually look beyond kdr's and single matches, it will be for players who can see the whole scope of it all, picture second life with spaceships, guns, soldiers and tanks, in a vastly larger area than second life is.
As an eve player, I love the new possibilities this will open up for me to be immersed in New Eden, for my son who is a console gamer, its a drop ship party and a countdown till dad is floating above the match helping him out from the laptop.
Dust isn't a full fps, its an mmo, with fps mechanics, that is going to be offered for free, with very limited rules. |

The game mechanic will not allow just any old EVE ship to come and bombard the planet. It will involve the interchange of launch codes from the ground team plus a target designation before a ship can launch a bombardment.

Alot of the fun from eve comes from screwing over people, weather its screwing up their markets, scamming them, destroying the fleet with your fleet, infiltrating their corp and stealing some/all assets, etc. The key will be to also be successful in that portion of the game as well as being able to fulfill your contractual obligations, being able to not fall prey to greed so you get scammed (saw someone doing the nigerian prince scam in a system the other day and he made a couple of billion off it), thinking outside the box for tactics, and having a team you can trust. I suggest looking for a corp as soon as its implemented maybe even sooner that fits on how you want to play dust (rpg, kdr, esports, etc. New Eden at times seems more like a social experiment than anything else, and some days it makes me cringe, others, it reminds me why i love the game :) |

Dewie Cheecham wrote:Why hate the goons? They are a great source of entertainment in EVE. I don't really hate anyone, especially not someone on the internet that I don't even really know. But I will openly admit I don't like them very much. Same for TEST.
Now I will be the first to say hulkageddon is quite a bit of fun, and does truly improve all of EVE IMO (I have never suicide ganked anyone, I am in a anti-pirate corp). But let's be real here, hulkageddon was not pushed so hard to promote fun or 'sponsor emergent gameplay', it was pushed to put isk in Goon's pocket. Over 50% the cost of a Hulk is technetium, and we all know who controls the game's technetium supply.
Although there are plenty of cool people in both TEST and Goons, the corps on a whole welcome scummy, crappy people with open arms. That means there are lots more crappy people in both corps than most corps in EVE. A lot of Goons and testies don't play to win, but play to make others lose. Going around trying to 'harvest tears' does not create an enjoyable game. People who gain joy simply but causing others unhappiness are bad people, regardless if its in a game. I am competitive as all hell and I play to win, but not just to see others lose. They have the sportsmanship of a 12year old. Most people get in a fight they say GF after, Goons get in a fight they talk mad sh*t. Plus they usually handle themselves like 12 year olds on the forums, which is why I assume a few of the decent Goon posters hide their corp on the forums.
Also the recruitment scams TEST like to run are scummy as hell. Decent people can't do that to other people, not even in a video game. It may be silly but people are quite emotionally invested in their internet Eve items, especially when its taken them 5,6,7+ years to collect. To steal everything you can, up to everything they own if they're real dumb, in one swoop is not cool. It has never happened to me, but I have to assume that causes some real life emotional distress. Never would I say you shouldn't kill people. I totally support killing anything anybody undocks in. Nothing better then getting a juicy hauler, or a faction fitted something. What I do not support is stealing everything someone owns under the false pretense of being allies. Now the victim has nothing left for me to blow up in pew pew. How can taking combatants off the battlefield for everyone, just to give one of the richest alliances in the game even more isk be considered a good thing. You know as well as I there is never enough people to blow up. EVE can still be a cold, dark, and cruel universe without being a cesspool.
And before you say it, nope I am not mad. Never been scammed. I just don't think decent people can cause that much unnecessary unhappiness to another, even in a video game. You are no better than a real life thief that is too lazy to get a job. You want large sums of isk speculate the market like the intelligent Eve billionaires, instead of your dumb ass thievery. It takes a scummy person to pray on those less intelligent than themselves (I am not calling TESTies intelligent, just their prey are really really dumb.)
That is why I am all for taking Goons and Co. down. I can not do it from EVE because I cannot form 400+man fleets with Titan support. If I can help do it Dust-side, you better believe I am going to. |

EvE players are always so happy to refuse a helping hand... Dust allows single man mining ops, who normally PvP through trade, to say "here's 20 mil, go annoy goons or test or whatever." We don't know how Sov will work when Dust hits 0.0 for the first time yet though. Why the GOONS? Because they have a name! A cool name at that. They are proud to be goons! I don't like their mentality, but if I joined EvE 3 weeks ago I would of joined them (probably). They put themselves out there, unlike so many cowardly corps/alliances. I'd have joined them because I don't know anyone. And I'd get scammed probs and go with the "I quit now. For real!" attitude. So why mess with the goons? They are strong. That makes for good fights. They are rich. That makes for good profit. They are cunning (the important ones) which means we can learn. I cant see anyone denting their ISK though.
Just a side note, saw a thread on R&B alliance, with their constant war. That looks like fun too :)

I spent some time with MM fighting bob and bob pets down in null, they did feel very invincible and it took quite a bit of effort to deal with them, the bob pet corps on the other hand, were alot easier.
The second time we took on BoB pets i was with vc, and our corp went from pirate pvp to straight null pvp, so we essentially took on the role of guerrilla warfare and found it pretty effective, but again, BoB weren't as easily disrupted.
With this new war brewing, it will be interesting to see what the end results are, since i am sure there is alot of back room negotiations/espionage going on that no one really hears about which may seriously affect how some corps/alliances are in the end of it all |

Right now, we can't, have you not seen the soonTM for clones?
How do you know CCP doesn't plan to do something like that for Dust? but having to update a stack of clones for say 100 times for that SP limit and if you go past that without redoing that clone grade, you'd lose SP?
There is something with clones they are doing. and I'd personally love to see that in Dust, just like the eve capsuleers |

lol. Well, they can definitely lose the isk they spent on their clone insurance when they die. If you managed to kill them while they were wearing implants some of those sets can cost a pretty penny too. I've got a set plugged into one of my clones with a single module that would make me QQ to the tune of 1.3billion isk if I let myself get podded. But I assure you, I wouldn't lose a single skill point.
Typically, the only capsuleers who lose skill points when they die are those who have terrible contingency plans and/or haven't quite made it past the initial learning curve.
I'm finding that it's possible that the Beta itself has a similar learning curve. I'd love to see it added to that chart |

I have nothing wrong with Dust making a impact to EVE, but these guys thinking they will come in and dismantle a huge alliance show the delusion they are in.
My entire reason for being here is the idea of pushing the limits and helping CCP create the ultimate gaming universe.
I can't stop them from going for goons like the others i hear and read about in evenew24 or anything else.
The reason for my post is for him including my name. (many don't know but my nickname in alliance and with friends is Royal, cause no one can say what it actually is, and I couldn't really tell ya, lol )

Love the idea of the war, hope you guys get it off the ground and make some noise in New Eden. It would be great for the game.
But take this as a freindly warning - you have NO idea what you are doing.
Now I'm not saying that to knock, you obviously know your gun-game and have some experience at this. I'm saying it so you go into this with your eyes open.
(Note also, this isn't about Goon, this refers to ANY large Alliance in EvE)
People keep telling you that Corps in EvE are the "Clans" or "Guilds" from other games right? And you've been in or led clans to victory in the past right? So you can do it again here same as you used to right? Wrong.
Here's where you can scream "BUT I IS L337 AND WILL OWN ALL WIF MY GUN_GAME!!1!"
And here's why you are wrong.
Because unlike every other shooter, where you can challenge another clan and you go off and fight somewhere, someone wins, Youtube vids are posted and much Lulz are had at the losers, here there are consequences.
A Clan is basically just people who like to play together and who are prepared to log in at the same time and work together to win a match or battle.
A Corp in EvE is people who do that, and who are prepared to organise with thousands of other players over the course of years to produce equipment, ships, titans, star-bases, ammo, weapons, hold territory, arrange on-going thousand-member engagements on a routine basis. They are prepared to grind their opponents down through outright battle, spies, economic warfare or slow attrition. These are things that no FPS has ever had to deal with.
You will win battles, and many, many of them. But unlike MAG, or CoD, that just doesn't matter. Because this my friends is WAR. True, ugly, all-out, persistent, WAR.
So you can kick butt against anyone 1v1? How about 5v1? 10v1? So there's a 32 player limit in a battle you say? How many battles can you fight at a time then? 1? 5? 10?
How many can you fight in a row? 10? 20? 50?
So you can kill 10 for every death? What if they are budgeting on losing 15-1?
How will you afford it is another good question? Because when you're defending your own territory, or making your own attacks, you have to PAY for it! No ISKies just for battle (Only in the PVE and Beta battles - otherwise you get paid as a Merc, you act for yourselves, you pay for yourselves.) Can you afford to max the vehicle quota on T2 fit Marauders EVERY SINGLE GAME? Because your enemies can.
In MAG/CoD/Whatever, you can't be beaten if you aren't playing, you have to be there to lose, here you don't. You'll get attacked relentlessly until you log out, and then they'll take your stuff.
Gun-Game is THE most important thing in most FPS's, but here it's only half the equation.
Take that on board and plan accordingly and you might actually make a dent in someone! :)

Alliances. EVE players are always lauding up the Meta, go do it. It's funny out a playerbase of 300k plus, six or seven guys on a seperate game are the one ones prepared to give it a shot. Wow. Just sayin' |

When Dust's cap a world that has weapons on it, it'll be automated to attack any h\hostile ship within orbit of that planet. Dust mercs wont be able to manually control them, they'll just fire on their own. So if there's some huge war going on in space, and the mercs managed to cap the world during the fight, the guns would switch sides and start pounding on the players who use to own that section of the planet. So now you have enemy ships firing at you, and planetary weapons firing up at you.
You wont be able to get near the planet without it firing at you. You could have SOV of the system, but you wont own the surface of a planet.
If we managed to band together and fight goon, we could theoretically restrict their movements within their own systems by capping their worlds. every time they warped to one of the worlds we capped, the guns would automatically fire onto their position. it would be like having a killer bees nest in your back yard, every time you went near it, they would attack you.
Also, orbital bombardments will have a cool down phase, so you'll probably only be able to get off two bombardments per match before the time runs out.
That's how I see Mercs will play once this game, and EVE have finally been linked.
We WILL be a major pain for any large corp that we are sent in to fight. |

Isn't that a little premature? The EvE/Dust514 interaction will probably be limited to a global marketplace and orbital strikes. |

Well hopefully the EVE players in their biggest ships don't/can't ruin the DUST experience I'm all for that. It would be a most unfair advantage that can/will deter many non EVE players if EVE players are able and will ruin DUST. It's just my two cents but I will see how the devs integrate the whole experience, I'm still excited about the game but when/if it becomes not fun anymore and just a big headache then it's time to find another game.
Thanks again for your replies.
Every orbital bombardment is going to need a spotter to relay the code. This should keep things semi-balanced. CCP has neither confirmed or denied rumors of refire rates or multiple spotters performing simultaneous bombardment.
With any luck, we'll be able to have as many ships performing simultaneous bombardment as we have spotters. This would lead to larger fleets ariving to support their mercs - which would in turn lead to still larger fleets arriving at the planet to intercept the bombarment fleet.
And don't forget, the contracts will go in both directions - Dust players hiring Eve players for orbital support, and Eve players contracting Dust players to change planetary ownership.
A Dust corp who ties themselves to an Eve corp will undoubtably recieve discounts on orbital fire support. An Eve corp with an in house mercenary arm will likewise have a substantial discount on planetary assaults.

Considering how serious this persons takes playing a video game I consider him to not too intelligent either.
-- "The pot calling the kettle black." --
That really seems to the case here. I do not think though that anyone should ever pay the mobs any attention. They are usually mindless, and only seem to acknowledge other e-peen stroking grunts with a regressed social stigma towards anything outside their basement or damp dwelling. |

EDIT: lol again at seeing EV on dusters blog. WITH MORE COMMENTS. they are so funny sometimes.
Well not only do they have to hope that the EVE target is pointed, Dusters also have to worry about whether it is even worth their time. From what I understand from the last ship balancing devblog, Destroyers will be made a very viable platform for orbital bombardment. So assuming market prices at this point (and as prices are currently slowly falling for T1 hulls) you could fit dozens of OB Thrashers for next to nothing. So frankly it all comes down to whether it is worth the time to destroy a destroyer or not.
Of course this is also all dependent on how much DPS a Destroyer-class orbital bombardment will do (as well as AOE) and how much DPS a Skyfire battery will put out. |

There will surely be other factors. Targeting and accuracy for one. Then you have to realize that the ship attempting it may not have the oppurtunity to do so, and may be destroyed before it can launch an orbital strike. Variables are a |3!tch. |
