I was actually thinking about this the other day.
How your income starts out really good, but down the road you have to do really well to break even.
But the main difference is that you can set aside a bunch of "Elite" gear for corp missions and expect the corp to foot the bill but then during regular play sessions you have a mid range set. |

Militia tanks are free. while weak sauce they are lame.
I am fine with basic stuff being free but tanks are a bit much |

NO.
I believe the tanks and such are like that so we can give them feedback on handling and such. |

I think so too, I think CCP implemented those militia vehicles just so everyone can try them out and provide feedback. I remember in the last build, a handful of people had tanks, because they're a pain to unlock.
And on that note, I definitely think that this should be just for testing purposes, and when the full game launches, there should be nothing like free tanks and dropships, the LAV is enough

Greetings,
SuperMido wrote:And on that note, I definitely think that this should be just for testing purposes, and when the full game launches, there should be nothing like free tanks and dropships, the LAV is enough I posted this in another thread, but I disagree... At least initially. I think they should remain as militia items for the first few weeks / months to help get the game jump started, but keep them with the current weaknesses. This will allow the tank drivers to get their tanks going early and gain enough SP to actually get the good tanks. It will allow the dropship drivers to get their skills up for the good dropships... Then after a few weeks / months remove the current versions and put the permanent versions in place. And before anyone accuses me of saying this because I am driving one... No, I am the scout / covert type.

For the purpose of testing the militia idea is good but on launch i think they should be removed as a tank should be a investment |

Long term I am fine with this.
Most of the matches today the team that can keep the most active tanks wins.
Now when people have skills to really use the anti- vehicle guns it may be different.
For now its the current noob tube of dust |

No. This doesnt have the worst match making system in history.
And. So many tanks right now. But militia tanks arent reasonable i dont see them sticking around past testing. |

yeah I don't see the milita stuff sticking around, I find it highly likely they are simply there as testing tools so to speak.
I fully agree that tanks should be a serious investment in skills and isk. |

I see milita infantry gear staying but not the vehicles.
I have been able to cut holes in a milita tank with my assault rifel though thats how weak they are. |

Granted we're supposedly still running 4x SP right now, but I had my HAV unlocked in this build on Tuesday. It's not fully decked-out, but it's available for use. |

I disagree. I think militia vehicles should stay; maybe nerf them if need be (though they're pretty weak as it is), but I think they're a great way to let people dip their toes into vehicle use without going horrifically broke from the expense. |

free tanks is stupid and a pain in hte ass. it should go back to just hte free jeep that was prefect and it worked. now every mother and there brother is in a drop ship and a tank..... they should at least have to pay for hte hull. this whole things goes 100% against what dust is all about and eve online is all about. there are no free ships in eve that are good enough to actually do something in. |

I would imagine this is for testing purposes only so we can give them feedback.
Basically what it comes down to is.
Do you want to deal with everybody and their mother in tanks, dropships, and jeeps now....
OR
Do you want to deal with terrible controls after the game is released and they aren't reimbursing anyone, no do overs, no char resets, just cold hard death because you ran into a light pole and blew up your 200,000 isk tank...
The choice is yours. |

I like the way militia vehicles introduces them into batllefield.
Last build I only heard them rumbling around, now I can try driving.
They are weak as they should but will allow players to get used to them instead of crashing 200K dropship into mountains or driving HAV up the cliff. How many SP you need to unlock proper HAV's and modules?
It seems that it is against EVE players consensus, but in every other FPS players are used to free vehicles. I don't mind 10-20K Isk for hull though in order to reduce vehicle spam. |
