And of course don't forget Citadels which are stupid large. I'd love to fight in a big plaza style setting inside a Citadel. It would really give the Art and Map team a chance to really show off.

Imagine having a fight in an Astrahus set up to have ships flying through the hangar ports during the fight so you can see them entering and exiting.

And while I don't think Citadels have a specified race, the interiors could certainly be thematically changed to show off different races/factions. Even if it's something as simple as banners hanging from the walls being changed

Aaaaaaaand then someone decides to shutdown the force field holding the internal atmosphere of the hangar venting out anyone and anything not hanging onto or bolted down to the ground.

And some of the most horrific! Imagine falling into a black hole, only to have time slow to a near-stop as you are slowly torn into a single thread of atoms on your eternal voyage into the event horizon of nature's surest killer. If light could escape you could literally be seen, frozen in agony, trapped in the event horizon for eternity.
You would become Nature's warning as to why you should not get to close to and/or touch dangerous things.
Yes, I am a Goon. No, I don't care about your spacepolitik.

Can you discuss what the maps look like? Maybe with pictures? Need to learn dem mapz. Not at this time. Trust me, I am excited to show off the work as much as you guys are to see stuff. However, we have plans. Stick to those plans to make a good solid game. Then in due time, we can share. In other words, you're aware that the community is going to be hyper critical of anything you release, so you're making damn sure it is of the highest quality before it is subject to that criticism. That's not what I said at all. We have a plan is what I said. Stick to the plan. We have a process for doing things here. =) And this is why it is safer for the poor guy to post in threads that say " - ". Such threads don't lead to difficult questions that forces him to walk that fine line of not breaking NDA while not pissing off the good people of the forum who he knows are on edge from months and months of suspense.
I thankful that he is able to tell us that he is working on Nova maps, because at least that tells us that Nova is actively being worked on.

So what you're saying is that I'm the Hero DUST 514 deserves.
I don't know whether to be proud or hurt.
So I'll be both :D

Well. I guess it stands to reason that you can't just go on talking about head counts and such on a public forum. I mean. What if Van Helsing were eavesdropping?

Right.........
I don't want to dis community input via YouTube videos because I know from experience how hard it is to create. But I face-palmed more than once during that.
'We have to make all our assumptions about Project Nova based on the silence that they're giving us....'
First of all, you are unable to make any assumptions based on silence. That's called making stuff up.
The first assumption that you're making (incorrectly) that CCP Shanghai is only capable of working on one game at a time. The Shanghai office is the home of the Chinese server for Eve Online. It's why it was opened in the first place. And while the vast majority of coding work for Eve is done in Iceland there is still a lot of work for the Shanghai guys to do.
The next assumption is they've not said anything about it, they can't have been working on it.
I was on CPM1 and 2. It's been nearly 4 months since my official term for 2 ended and I was in almost weekly contact with the team before my first term and I'm in near daily contact with them still regarding Nova.
A safe assumption that there will be no work done on Nova before December of next year?
It was CPM1 that were first told about Nova, halfway through the term. That was nearly 2 years ago and your assumption is that they won't start working on it for another 14 months? They've been working on it for 2 years already!
Another assumption is that the team for Gunjack 1 and 2 is huge. It's not. Up until the first Gunjack got its green light and went into full production, its Dev team consisted of three guys! Even if the full team for it was 3 times that size that's more than enough for the job given how easy UE4 is to work with. Considerably more than 9 people work in the Shanghai office.
'It's not unreasonable to assume that CCP Shanghai could get continually distracted by other VR projects.'
My friend, it is very unreasonable to assume that to be the case, especially as you're basing it on, by your admission, no data coming from CCP.
As to the lack of information.
There is plenty that they could share now but it would be meaningless because its only part of the whole endeavour. It's basically not ready to share yet. Much of the problems of how Dust was received can be traced directly to the team working on it back then saying too much, too early and not being able to follow up on most of it.
The new way of working on Projects at CCP will not let that happen again.
In the meantime, play some other games, check in every so often but don't get hung up on a game which isn't yet ready for public inspection. When it is, CCP will likely not shut up about it.

You should make huge maps of the new structures like citedels and engineering platforms. So that squads of players can invade on foot and take over structures.
Also have ccp ever thought of using whatever Nova becomes to replace walking in stations eveside so it is fighting in stations? Could have PVE as well?
Anyone getting annoyed by reading of the above post should consider the following.

I'm thinking that Shanghai working on the occasional VR side-project set in New Eden, especially ones that might make money, is not a bad thing.
Every studio out there who wants to compete in the VR arena is basically learning & earning their chops right now. The VR industry hasn't had their Doom/John Carmack breakthrough moment just yet and so any experience gained is tremendously valuable. The fact that Gunjack 2 must be a fairly small project makes it a win/win for the studio and us, imo.
Furthermore, to step the meta(and speculation) up one level, CCP envisions itself as a studio creating/shepherding a virtual universe and so it's not hard to imagine that their ultimate goal is to make all of New Eden VR-accessible. Granted this is a long-term goal but for my money it is the goal.
CCP has talked about a single login to access multiple 'portals' into their virtual universe and the logical extension of that is a seamless in-game in-VR transition between roles in New Eden.
The smart way to approach that goal is to iterate through successive VR experiences until the studio builds up the experience and toolkit it needs to allow it to start dovetailing their various VR experiences together into an unified(and gob-smacking) whole. The sign that this is happening will be some kind of unification/standardization project for their various platforms and engines(Given that the audience for VR/AR is much bigger than mere gaming, the industry will prolly get there before CCP does).
This is a decade(s) long goal and it's early days yet so small steps and exploration are the order or the day for any competent leader. One would never accuse the company that signed off on Dust 514 as being competent, but as far as this Gunjack 2 news goes i read it as a positive in the long run.
