Jumping + Explosives is actually a lot harder to use effectively than it seems. One, your range game is horrible. Two, jumping that high leaves you incredibly vulnerable to anyone who's looking at you. Three, the second you jump, every player has painted a huge target on your back.

No, sorry, I can't agree with you. I usually find I do but not this time. There is too much that has been added to this game which is just ridiculous. Just because CCP adds something to the game doesn't mean it's a good thing. Make it too ridiculous and people will leave. |

Like others have said, the myos are the problem. However, the MD, PLC along with other explosive weapons plus heavies with HMGs are a real problem now with maps hat have an indoor, campable objective. It just bogs the game down and has ruined any variety or strategy.
This became very noticable after the suits were standardized with slots and a basic suit could be tanked more. Scrub power players just moved up to spamming explosives and heavies. The commando suit is ruining anything the assault really has to offer as well, and it is what makes the myo jumpy crap worst than it already is.
Might as well just let assaults carry two light weapons or make the commando suit the assault suit.

Mad Syringe wrote:I'm a MD user since day one, and have used myos shortly when they where introduced. Didn't like it so went back to 1 myo max (to get over stuff faster - parcour style).
But recently I put back myos (2) on my minmandos for two reasons:
First, you need to be able to jump on certain objects (rooftops) if you get put there for PC AV/overwatch purposes. Second, the myos are the only option to evade the recent rise of the speedtanked shotty invasion in PC (scouts and assaults wiht Bon's). This has helped my survivability in shotty situations a lot.
However, I don't like the jumpy MD crowd as much as the next guy. So there should be a higher drain of stamina if you stack those things. What if you loose 50% extra per jump for every myo fitted after the first one?
So if you fit two, you lose 150% of stamina per jump instead of 100% with one or none fitted. If you fit 3, you loose 200% of the stamina of an non myo jump.
This wuld reduce the amount of jumps, or they would have to fit cardiacs, which would decrease their hp, since they could not fit as many plates.
This way myos could still be used strategically (which is a very good thing!) but not as much for spamming Explosives (MD/PLC/FL). It would still be possible, but toned down a bit.
Quoting myself here...
Myos are a good addition to the game, they just need to be toned down a bit, which means the amount of hops in a row need to be reduced!!! |

Clearly you don't know CCP....who have a history of leaving broken things in game to the point the entire meta revolves around it before finally patching it. But yes here is another vote stating they need to just get rid of these jumpy suits. It's made even worse by the extremely low frame rate of dust so you are basically shooting at stutters. |

If this is your idea of a counter-argument, I'll just leave the conversation right here.
Playing the what-if game is stupid and childish. Especially when something that idiotic would never get past CCP and into the actual game.
In your case however, I'd argue that stealing other peoples thoughts might actually be an improvement in your arguments.
Bottom line is the fact that CCP introduced it, and BALANCED it. I could understand if they said "Hey, this was a bad idea, lets pull it out". But they didn't. They did a pass and put it to where they believed it should be.
And until they say "Hey, this was a bad idea, we're pulling it out" its completely within the others players rights to run their suits as they see fit.
Why are they effective? Jumpy fits take advantage of the fact that a lot of newer/unskilled players have an extreme difficulty in shooting in the Y axis when all they've ever had to worry about is the X axis. The sudden paradigm shift is something they can't deal with.
To anyone with decent FPS experience, they make themselves an easy target. They have no more maneuverability and an easy to predict trajectory. Give them some space so they don't move out of your FOV, melt them and move on. You want to have some real fun? Cook a nade and toss it at their feet when they're about to land. Laugh manically at flying bodies.
Its not unfair, its not unbalanced, and it certainly isn't OP. They're taking advantage of the fact that unskilled opponents are terrible at adapting to new scenarios. If you're as epic as you think you are, remind with your rifle that they're taking a gamble every time they pull that suit out.

I'm going to have to point something out to you about most of the jumpy people I come across.
Most of the jumpy people I come across do not immediately start jumping all over the place the moment I start battling them nor do I see them jumping prior to me engaging them. Because I am not aware that a particular merc has equipped the ability to jump 20 feet into the air I will engage them in CQC just like I do with everyone else.
Only after I start whipping their @$$ and outperforming them with my gungame do I see them rocket into the air and immediately start launching flaylock pistol rounds at me.
Your suggestions for combating jumpy people only applies after you identify that a particular person is in fact a jumpy.
As of right now there is no visible way of telling if a person is a jumpy or not without actually seeing them jump. Also, right now the mercs don't even bend their knees prior to the actual jump; the bending of the knees would be an indication that the person is going to jump which would give a person a margin of time to prepare for what is about to happen.
Right now a merc when engaged in a fight with someone can go from doing a little wiggle wiggle action to immediately launching into the air at a speed faster than they can move in any other direction in this game.
The majority of the people who use myofibs so that they can jump ridiculously high into the air are garbage players who lack skill and have to resort to a ******** tactic that you would think would only be found in FPS games like Halo and COD but never found in a FPS game like Dust514.
When the jumpiness first came about in this game I used to tell people the same thing you are now. I would tell people to adapt and tell them that the arcs that they would take when flying through the air were predictable enough to make shooting them out of the sky an easy task.
Now I understand that this adapt or die mentality when it comes to the jumpiness is absolute ******** because those trashy ******* players never bothered to adapt to the skillsets of the players in this game themselves. Instead of developing better gungame these people would simply run from you, abandon their teammates, steal kills, etc. all to make themselves feel like they actually have skill when the EOM screen pops up.
Now these garbage players will battle you but the moment they realize they are up against someone better than them they resort to jumping 20 feet into the air and spamming explosives everywhere.
I am actually kind of shocked that you are defending such a trashy tactic in this game. Do you even play this game anymore?

I might be confusing you with someone else but are you the jumpy person I used to see squadding with Soniic Howl in Acquisition? You would jump around in a Proto Minmatar Dropsuit taking advantage of newberries; are you that person I am thinking about? He doesn't play this game anymore. It is why his perspective is painful to read. |

As someone who continues to have activity in this game, and a member of what was once one of the best teams in MH I can say that I agree with Ghost Kaisar almost completely. Even if he's a bit out of touch with what's current there's a certain amount of skill that some players have that enable them to have decent opinions based on combination of past, and passive knowledge of the game. Besides, he clearly does have experience dealing with jumpy players.
I would also like to acknowledge that myos are quite costly to run on your fits, and take up high slots. Valuable slots that could either be used for shield tanking, damage mods, or scan enhancers. They are simply another play style. One that really isn't any worse than any other. If I end up having to deal with a jumper I have a set of different tactics at my own disposal. I wouldn't fight a laser assault the same way I fight a shotgun assault. I don't expect to fight a jumper the same way I fight a camper.
Officially recognized for advancing the science of getting bent.
