With that being said, I just finished a match on my alt running basic / frontline gear and we were playing against these guys
1. Juan2000RX TROL (Mass Driver + Jumpy) 2. Ivan Xrminador27 (Mass Driver + Jumpy) 3. Beninho gamez (Freedom Mass Driver + Jumpy) 4. Alex 95121 (Plasma Cannon + Jumpy) 5. trrfh toljh (Mass Driver) 6. Master Kalvo 7. miligo jp 8. LuisGS18 (Mass Driver + Jumpy) 9. Dust 514 t 10. spec corral (Plasma Cannon + Jumpy) 11. Pemac net (Allotek Plasma Cannon) 12. miguelcool13 13. pollo huevos -
The match went like this;
We reached the objective first, got the hack and the match was really fun we kept the hack but we were dying some and they were dying some and I was doing pretty well with my alt and basic / frontline gear, but then the tide changed! We were assault by 4 jumpy splash damage weapon users and at that point, I just sort of sat back and watched.
We had then their MCC totally down to its shield and were up by 14 clones but when the mass drivers began to appear and jumpy suits and plasma cannons, the numbers quickly changed! They got the hack and kept it and cloned us out by 48 clones!
MASS DRIVERS PLASMA CANNONS JUMPY SUITS
It's easy mode. They said "oh crap we're losing time to be cheap" and I've never seen so many jumpy mass driver players at one time and jumpy plasma cannon players at one time it looked like a child's birthday party and all the kids were jumping in a ball pit!
CCP REALLY?
Just because you run around with a shotgun or an explosive splash damage weapon doesn't make you a good player, in my opinion it makes you a chump!
Signed,
-The last true cowboy in this game who will fight you like a man and not cheat you out of a good game and a fair victory.
It's the jumpiness that breaks the game. You leave my Plasma Cannon out of this. |

If this is your idea of a counter-argument, I'll just leave the conversation right here.
Playing the what-if game is stupid and childish. Especially when something that idiotic would never get past CCP and into the actual game.
In your case however, I'd argue that stealing other peoples thoughts might actually be an improvement in your arguments.
Bottom line is the fact that CCP introduced it, and BALANCED it. I could understand if they said "Hey, this was a bad idea, lets pull it out". But they didn't. They did a pass and put it to where they believed it should be.
And until they say "Hey, this was a bad idea, we're pulling it out" its completely within the others players rights to run their suits as they see fit.
Why are they effective? Jumpy fits take advantage of the fact that a lot of newer/unskilled players have an extreme difficulty in shooting in the Y axis when all they've ever had to worry about is the X axis. The sudden paradigm shift is something they can't deal with.
To anyone with decent FPS experience, they make themselves an easy target. They have no more maneuverability and an easy to predict trajectory. Give them some space so they don't move out of your FOV, melt them and move on. You want to have some real fun? Cook a nade and toss it at their feet when they're about to land. Laugh manically at flying bodies.
Its not unfair, its not unbalanced, and it certainly isn't OP. They're taking advantage of the fact that unskilled opponents are terrible at adapting to new scenarios. If you're as epic as you think you are, remind with your rifle that they're taking a gamble every time they pull that suit out.
I'm going to have to point something out to you about most of the jumpy people I come across.
Most of the jumpy people I come across do not immediately start jumping all over the place the moment I start battling them nor do I see them jumping prior to me engaging them. Because I am not aware that a particular merc has equipped the ability to jump 20 feet into the air I will engage them in CQC just like I do with everyone else.
Only after I start whipping their @$$ and outperforming them with my gungame do I see them rocket into the air and immediately start launching flaylock pistol rounds at me.
Your suggestions for combating jumpy people only applies after you identify that a particular person is in fact a jumpy.
As of right now there is no visible way of telling if a person is a jumpy or not without actually seeing them jump. Also, right now the mercs don't even bend their knees prior to the actual jump; the bending of the knees would be an indication that the person is going to jump which would give a person a margin of time to prepare for what is about to happen.
Right now a merc when engaged in a fight with someone can go from doing a little wiggle wiggle action to immediately launching into the air at a speed faster than they can move in any other direction in this game.
The majority of the people who use myofibs so that they can jump ridiculously high into the air are garbage players who lack skill and have to resort to a ******** tactic that you would think would only be found in FPS games like Halo and COD but never found in a FPS game like Dust514.
When the jumpiness first came about in this game I used to tell people the same thing you are now. I would tell people to adapt and tell them that the arcs that they would take when flying through the air were predictable enough to make shooting them out of the sky an easy task.
Now I understand that this adapt or die mentality when it comes to the jumpiness is absolute ******** because those trashy ******* players never bothered to adapt to the skillsets of the players in this game themselves. Instead of developing better gungame these people would simply run from you, abandon their teammates, steal kills, etc. all to make themselves feel like they actually have skill when the EOM screen pops up.
Now these garbage players will battle you but the moment they realize they are up against someone better than them they resort to jumping 20 feet into the air and spamming explosives everywhere.
I am actually kind of shocked that you are defending such a trashy tactic in this game. Do you even play this game anymore?
