For Logi's, I typically use their Kills and KD/R to figure out their deaths, and then Divide lifetime WP by death to get a measure of WP/Death. The higher the better. Shart Machine wrote:Here's an oddball idea: remove death stats. Kills / WP is what really matters, right? When players don't care about deaths, they will fight for the objective or support their team to build up WPs instead of padding their kills to make their stats look better.
I say this because one of my favorite games, Tribes 2, didn't show deaths. The objective was capture the enemy flag and keep ours safe at all costs. If you had to suicide to respawn and get back into the battle faster, that's just what you did. It was win by any means, regardless if you die 100 times. The mentality was 100% different than it is in games now.
Obviously Dust is different in some aspects like clone count and losing gear, but the point remains. If you don't give somebody a stat to pad, then they won't pad it. Exactly. I will suicide into the enemy 10 times during a pub to get one or two kills if I have to. PC is different, but that's not the point

Why I said, personally it's a useless stat. Yes, two ways to win and 80% of the time it's not cloning. Also, if someone has a sub 1 KDR, no, it does not say you die more than you kill. Newer players, even when I started, play against high rank players fairly quick. As a new player, you can die an unrealistic amount of times. Seen it happen so much that it's ridiculous. It takes time to get back even and above, and some people only play with a limited amount of time due to their real life schedule. Even the time's I had a sub 1 KDR in PC, we won. Second, in pubs, as you said, everyone worries about KDR rather than winning. Sad but true. Why you have very lopsided loses or wins a decent bit of the time. And as I said before, some people use glass suits like scouts, which can easily equate to more deaths. Not just logi, which is your focus point. And WP per death is not always a good indicator either. As I said in an earlier post, some battles I'll die due to protecting teammates and using a glass scout, yet I'm at the top in WP.

Most good corps will only field people that have been there since for a long time and the FC knows that they are capable of doing a good job and knows their roles. Basically to be part of the A team you literally have to be way better than someone there and impress the FC and directors, and maybe even then they might field you or not. Unless you are happy being part of the B team. As far as i know AE shouldnt be judging people by their kd because that's not how we judged someone in having a chance in joining. It was, you had talent you were in. Our B team was basically an A team in today's standards and the A team were just flat out monsters. And I'll admit, my lifetime KDR is abysmal. But it's only like it is, one because I was a headstrong newb when I started, rushing to fight against proto, etc, instead of playing smart, along with a few other criteria that only some know. But again, KDR is not a great stat. I agree with the post earlier saying that if it wasn't there, people would stop striving to top each other on it because it wouldn't be about the stat. It would be about the teamwork, as it should be. But I also only play for the social aspect, not anything else. Quite a few are that way.

What's with the obsession with joining an "elitist" pc corp? Do you know any of their members? Is it the "prestige" of showing off the tags?
I mean what if you get in and it turns out to be an uncomfortable environment where you don't fit in? Why not join a group where everyone gets along, are friends and have common interests?
Most of these "elite" groups are intentionally exclusionary and resistant to allowing new people to break into the "inner circle". Not that it's completely unheard of but I'd be cautious about having to compromise your core self in order to gain acceptance. |

Don't talk like you know us.
I got into FA from being in a nobody corp, and I haven't changed any of my core values since my time in here.
FA doesn't care about what you do or anything. All they care about is whether you can hold your own on the battlefield.
Hell, I'd even take a horrible stat recruit if they showed potential. Mentality is half the battle. I look for people with the "Knock me down and I'll hop right back up and sock you one" mentality.
Because no matter what, you WILL do badly in a PC one day. Hell, you might end up in a loss streak at sometime and lose all your districts.
I want people who are able and willing to say, "That was horrible, lets improve".

Hmmm, don't see where I mentioned you specifically, but I don't need to know you. In my time I've been around and seen enough cliques to know that they're fundamentally all the same: only the "cool kids" get in, all others are excluded. And it's a cruel game, making the plebes dance and do tricks on the hope that they'll be accepted into the inner sanctum. Some get through these tests, but most don't. And that's what I meant about not compromising oneself attempting to join up with the "elite", because it's never worth it. Killer Hellhound is in a PC with us as I type Well, yay. Did you have him take Derrith's entrance exam yet? He needs to learn how to not drop 20 uplinks in the same spot. But no, he hasn't taken Derriths Exam yet.
