As you all know (or at least most of you) I'm a closed beta vet (Mordu's Private Trials to be exact). I've had a ton of character since, and settled down with this one in 2014. I used to fly transports drop ships and a bunch of other things. I never cared about kills or WP, only about having fun. After years of stat-neglect, I've come to realize that I wish I tried even a little. My current KD is like 16k/14k (1.11 kdr) and a measly 2m WP. Sure, I've racked up 50M on this char (if I added all my old chars I'd be at 150m by now.
Anyways, no corp wants to take me in because my stats are bad. Sure, I pull a 3.5-7.0KD when I go try hard, but I never did, and now I'm more willing to. Nobody thinks I'm capable of it due to my lifetime stats. I used to be one of the best snipers & pilots in the game... Now I'm nothing. I don't even know anymore... Id rather be in a NPC corp then be in another dead PC corp, or one that absolutely sucks. *sigh* I gotta stop typing and go back to slaying for the event... (I started last night and only have another 165 to go)

Only true tryhards worry about KDR. *insert thank you gif* That's honestly exactly how I feel

But fact is, the guy, say going 2/12 but repping, reviving, etc, with thousands of WP, is a bigger asset to the team than someone going 20/2 but with only thousand WP. Yes that guy with the high KDR played a part but so did that logi who died doing so much. Why I say it's a team thing. Not KDR. A thousand times yes

If it means saving another players life it is. And killing is far from a logis job aswell

Being a logi is quite expensive, if you die too much it will cost you a lot...
Since 2 months i've been running mostly proto GalLogi even in pubs (scrubby me),
but just to have better equipment with me.... (and a little more tank).
Personally I don't care about isk losses. I have enough isk

Normal speed isn't great but the Sprint is at 8, maybe a touch above. 400 shields and around 600 or 700 armor. Shotgun and AR variant but can't remember which. Seems to throw people off with a big guy speeding towards you faster than he should carrying a shotgun. I hardly die when using it lol. Fun suit to be honest. Plus it can take a bit of damage, always a plus. Sounds like a blast... A shotgun blast to the face! Haha

Only true tryhards worry about KDR. *insert thank you gif* That's honestly exactly how I feel KDR isn't a useless stat. There are two victory conditions in Dust. Kill all Clones Destroy the MCC Having a sub 1.0 K/DR means that you die more than you kill in a match, which makes you a liability in PC, as you make it easier for the opponent to win by clones. In Pubs? I honestly don't know who would care. If you're trying to get into a PC corp, K/DR and W/L are two very important stats to look at, UNLESS you're a Logi. For Logi's, I typically use their Kills and KD/R to figure out their deaths, and then Divide lifetime WP by death to get a measure of WP/Death. The higher the better. Source: I process a lot of Apps for FA. What about a guy like me? Ive got a 1.11 KDR, And I logi a ton nowadays. In the past, I ran lolfits like a PLC Ninja...... Before it was cool. So yeah, my LIFETIME stats suck, but my skill doesn't reflect that.

Shart Machine wrote:Here's an oddball idea: remove death stats. Kills / WP is what really matters, right? When players don't care about deaths, they will fight for the objective or support their team to build up WPs instead of padding their kills to make their stats look better.
I say this because one of my favorite games, Tribes 2, didn't show deaths. The objective was capture the enemy flag and keep ours safe at all costs. If you had to suicide to respawn and get back into the battle faster, that's just what you did. It was win by any means, regardless if you die 100 times. The mentality was 100% different than it is in games now.
Obviously Dust is different in some aspects like clone count and losing gear, but the point remains. If you don't give somebody a stat to pad, then they won't pad it. Exactly. I will suicide into the enemy 10 times during a pub to get one or two kills if I have to. PC is different, but that's not the point

Hmmm, don't see where I mentioned you specifically, but I don't need to know you. In my time I've been around and seen enough cliques to know that they're fundamentally all the same: only the "cool kids" get in, all others are excluded. And it's a cruel game, making the plebes dance and do tricks on the hope that they'll be accepted into the inner sanctum. Some get through these tests, but most don't. And that's what I meant about not compromising oneself attempting to join up with the "elite", because it's never worth it. Killer Hellhound is in a PC with us as I type Well, yay. Did you have him take Derrith's entrance exam yet? He needs to learn how to not drop 20 uplinks in the same spot. But no, he hasn't taken Derriths Exam yet. Proctor was AFK We all established that wasn't me. I spammed links 15-25m away from each other, never closer
