As you all know (or at least most of you) I'm a closed beta vet (Mordu's Private Trials to be exact). I've had a ton of character since, and settled down with this one in 2014. I used to fly transports drop ships and a bunch of other things. I never cared about kills or WP, only about having fun. After years of stat-neglect, I've come to realize that I wish I tried even a little. My current KD is like 16k/14k (1.11 kdr) and a measly 2m WP. Sure, I've racked up 50M on this char (if I added all my old chars I'd be at 150m by now.
Anyways, no corp wants to take me in because my stats are bad. Sure, I pull a 3.5-7.0KD when I go try hard, but I never did, and now I'm more willing to. Nobody thinks I'm capable of it due to my lifetime stats. I used to be one of the best snipers & pilots in the game... Now I'm nothing. I don't even know anymore... Id rather be in a NPC corp then be in another dead PC corp, or one that absolutely sucks. *sigh* I gotta stop typing and go back to slaying for the event... (I started last night and only have another 165 to go)

Its just bull how some corps make numbers such as, kdr ***** a stupid requirement. Its just a number and that's it. Nothing else.
My kd isn't the best but in the end I just simply don't care. Its a game not a sport. Gaming I'm general should never and I mean Never become a sport.

My current Corp doesn't care about KDR. It's about teamwork. Only requirements for PC is lifetime SP, along with a few minor. things like proto gear, etc. My KDR sucks but I don't care. I play for the team and half the time, I die preventing someone else in my team from dying. KDR is and always will be, to me, a useless stat. It does not dictate how good or bad a player is. Only true tryhards worry about KDR.

Trust me, I've had plenty of verbal arguments about KDR with people. But fact is, the guy, say going 2/12 but repping, reviving, etc, with thousands of WP, is a bigger asset to the team than someone going 20/2 but with only thousand WP. Yes that guy with the high KDR played a part but so did that logi who died doing so much. Why I say it's a team thing. Not KDR.

^ Amen.
The only role I played in this event was the Gal proto logi and wow it is awesome.
With the logi I seem to earn around 1500 to 2000+ alone but with a squad = much more fun.
I rather rep, throw uplinks, ammo and scan. Many responsibilities I have to take. In the end all it matters is to have fun.

i've run logi for most of the time, once in the second place on world wp list, my KDR stay at 3. my role in pc always logi, but i died less than 5 times, theres no need to go 2/20 if ur a logi...n KDR definitely matters.... the higher KDR u get, the better ur skill is...dying is not a job for logi

Jack, Jack, Jack...... myself in PC, my max deaths for a match was six. I also was running a speed scout made of glass. However, I was running between points constantly, dropping uplinks, hacking, etc. So yea I died. But what I did, that alone, helped us win PC. Second, no one said 2/20. I've never seen a logi go twenty deaths. My lifetime is low. I catch crap for it all the time. However, 90% of the time, I'm using glass scouts and also towards the top of each battle in WP alone. Now, as a logi, yea most WP I have ever had is being one. If I had ran a solo squad (ability to drop OB and WB), could have easily called a major WB myself. In fact that battle as a logi (my highest ever), our squad had a combined 12,000 WP. But here is the thing, KDR does not dictate skill. You can have a high KDR, but cower as a hit and run tanker (duma) or a sniper (too many to name). Skill is what you do as a whole in a battle, not how many you kill. Case and point, a know of quite a few players who somehow get in to battles where the highest rank they face is Private or PFC. They'll go 40/0, equating to a high KDR. That take skill? No, not really. Not when it's people straight out of Academy. But, it's fine. Opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one. And the KDR debate will rage on until the day the servers for Dust die.

This as well. Unless you're setup as a slayer logi, being a logi isn't about killing. It's about support for the whole team.

u got to know, full proto equipment may cost ur mk0 150k, but it can definitely make u more isk,( but this is for pc in pub, mk0 is not really needed to me= = run pro logi in pub wont make profit unless u got super slayer teammate. pro logi didnt make u rep faster or any bonus

Don't get me wrong, not jabbing at you Jack. Not by any means. And I agree, as a logi, if you get the chance to kill, by all means do it. My logi is set up as a slayer. All equipment is proto as well. Personally, I'm a much better scout than anything. As a sniper (while I originally was), I'm extremely deadly. But as a scout, there is a drawback to all that speed, even using a Scotsman. It's glass. With the uptick in AHMG, BAR, etc, no scout can last long. It's speed is unparalleled (though I have a Gallente Commando with a sprint of 8 or more) but, again, the scout can't take much damage. You'll usually die more in one than any other thing. Probably why my KDR hovers. Side note: Another reason why I die more sometimes is this. Other night, I had a squad with Corp. Five times I died protecting a squad member, me taking the damage, allowing them to fight on. But, again, it's just part of what I do for my team.

Yes and no. Being a logi can get expensive. I agree. But it's also been proven, the higher your WP (along with what you damage or destroyed in suits, weapons, etc), the higher your payout. But it's worth it.

The one I have the most fun with is one with complex kincats, nova knives (can't remember which), Tsunami MD, proto remote explosives, etc. But even as much damage as I do with it, it can't take damage at all.

Here's an oddball idea: remove death stats. Kills / WP is what really matters, right? When players don't care about deaths, they will fight for the objective or support their team to build up WPs instead of padding their kills to make their stats look better.
I say this because one of my favorite games, Tribes 2, didn't show deaths. The objective was capture the enemy flag and keep ours safe at all costs. If you had to suicide to respawn and get back into the battle faster, that's just what you did. It was win by any means, regardless if you die 100 times. The mentality was 100% different than it is in games now.
Obviously Dust is different in some aspects like clone count and losing gear, but the point remains. If you don't give somebody a stat to pad, then they won't pad it. |

hey mate, drop by "radio warravens" chat anytime u wana fly with us. dunno bout other corps but we mostly go by weekly kdr when recruiting (slayers at least). that way if i meet someone who's talking the talk and wants in corp, but who's stats are bad, i can give them some isk and introduce them to other squads and say "youve got a week, prove it"
if you have played hard this week for the event, your weekly stats should be good. goodluck out there. o7

Only true tryhards worry about KDR. *insert thank you gif* That's honestly exactly how I feel
KDR isn't a useless stat.
There are two victory conditions in Dust.
Kill all Clones
Destroy the MCC
Having a sub 1.0 K/DR means that you die more than you kill in a match, which makes you a liability in PC, as you make it easier for the opponent to win by clones.
In Pubs? I honestly don't know who would care.
If you're trying to get into a PC corp, K/DR and W/L are two very important stats to look at, UNLESS you're a Logi.
For Logi's, I typically use their Kills and KD/R to figure out their deaths, and then Divide lifetime WP by death to get a measure of WP/Death. The higher the better.
