How many mercs active on Dust514 have 0 participation in Planetary Conquest ?? I am asking as last night we randomly enlisted the support of Count- -Crotchula, who had a decent game with DMG vs a ringer team and after the match we discovered it was his first PC in 2 years !! How many other Dust514 mercs can relate to that ??
And more importantly ... why do so few bother to participate ??
Sure PC has it's downsides, but it is the only place on Dust where you can get proper battles and imo is content any merc on Dust514 should not be missing.. Your blueberries are accountable for their actions for once Why avoid it ??
- FW players..whatever you may fear of PC lag, in my experience FW is always worse for performance !!! So I get that lag is a big issue, though if you are in Corps for PC, leaving and rejoining matches can improve performance, and there are other various ways to clean up the PS3 system and try to get the most out of it .. not perfect, but it works - Tryhards.. this is probably a major issue for many players, no-one enjoys being turned into a molten pool of biomass and while there are some counters to teams who in short "got good" you will die for it, a lot. Teamwork can challenge even the best of teams, sure as hell they will kill you, but if you adapt.. weaker teams can certainly get results in tough PC's.
Sadly imo, the greatest tactic in Dust is use the best 16 slayers you can get, rinse and repeat = WINNING ^^ As said above there are counters, but it gets messy for your team.. and expensive
But DMG are one example of what a few slayers and a dedicated team can achieve, we have got results against the odds while also we have dragged many of us to hell and back as we keep faith with our players regardless of slaying ability... I'd be lying if I said it was all good times and paychecks.. but in the end we are here for the fights that is the content that matters.
So, this is directed at the Players who are missing out.. why not take the leap and get involved ?? And, while we hear the PC communities view on it like a broken record.. what do the players outside think??

Should*
But first, please have some respect for the fact, PC is meant for fighting.. "Raids" have offered no real content bar tripling the amount of no-show PC's. And most raiding.. have no idea what they are setting up for.. so it needs work...
For teams raiding.. for the love of Dust, at least have a battle plan!! and a team to begin with !!!

I used to play with PFBHz, did a short stint in FA, then petered off. I haven't played a PC match in almost two years. To answer your question about why I don't bother with PC:
- Almost all of my friends that I started playing this game with have left, and it is difficult to motivate myself to play at the highest level of competition without some friendly support, banter, etc
- You have to plan too much time around it. Because there are so many experienced players, and so few slot on the roster, players need to be dedicating an extraordinary amount of time just to be considered for the PC queue. Then, you have to find a spot within the top 16 roster. Missing PCs, even if you don't play them, hurts your chances of getting to play them because you didn't bother to show up
- Lag. The whole game is laggy. You're experience with FW being "the most laggy" is as circumstantial as my experience with PC. Regardless of which game mode is worse, it's a huge letdown to go through all of the aforementioned steps only to go 5/10 because you were playing a slide show
- Pointlessness on two levels. On the largest scale, PC feels pointless because we're not doing anything. For most corps, you claim land in a glorified skirmish match (and I love skirmish) for a big pay check. That's it. That's all its ever been. And that's just gotten boring to me. On a smaller scale, PC is only "tumultuous" for the top corps. If you are a small, medium, new, or any combination of the three, I am of the opinion that all of those victories are hollow. You've "earned" the land because the top corps have not decided to take it from you. And this is not meant to bash top tier corps. They've done well with the system provided for them, and they should continue to play the hardest that they can.
That's a few, anyway

there's no reason not to play, or maybe I get no FPS drops cos of SSD, new PS3 and fibre, I think it's all the videos and horror stories about 1fps, that put me off
PC is where it's at, if you want the ultimate DUST experience where no-one ISN'T participating, where everyone is out for all-out war, then play PC, it's the greatest teamplay experience DUST has to offer, it beats playing solo and any other mode hands down
no excuses guys

Well, I played 2 PC's against I think your team yesterday.
That were 4 and 5th my PC (not counting 2 no-shows) in my whole dust career (I have been playing for about 2 years now)
Ill just paste my report from them here:
"#47884Posted: 2015.10.07 07:07 played 2 PC yesterday.
what a fuckin waste of time. First match lagged so match my bons was shooting as fast as a bolt pistol, frame drops everywhere.
Thought: "ohkay, lets try something else"
went to lowest resolution , deleted almost all fits (left 4), deleted all emails, contacts, left only 2 chat rooms, turned voice chat off.
Result?
Horrible graphics, lag and frame rate drops.
So yeah, this game mode is so 1337 that you have to know where you will be ruberbanded when the next frame renders (and when does it really render) Oh and good I have a maxed out running/hacking scout. Because minass with SSD can hack the point before I'm halfway to it..."
Also I ran a scout, as it's my favourite suit (have 3 of them to proto) I had to fill 3 of my 4 slots in a gal scout just to evade scans, which leaves me at HP = one PLC round splash damage. Minscout? pft, scanned all the damn time.
It's not that scouts are UP or whatever. I just want to point at the balance at "top tier" which is "use the most OP stuff and spam everything with explosive weapons". I don't want to be forced into playing "PC viable" roles, but I have to if I want to win.
As a sidenote, how raids are any different than PC's? it's the same thing... |

That's a few, anyway I love the gameplay and level of competition that PC can offer, when it works.
Piercing Serenity's points two, three and four are what keep me out of PC.
Point four removes the will to participate/engage: Dust is my first shooter, i came here for New Eden, not for a half-baked lobby shooter.
Point two - I PC'd a fair bit in the beginning, but with the game in it's current death march state i cannot justify the time that PC participation takes away from family.
Point Three serves as a large multiplier that amplifies the frustrations that come from Points two and four.
Even on PC or PS4 this argument does not substantially change. CCP will need to resume stewardship of their game before we see any real improvement, imo.

I've taken part in maybe 3 PCs, not counting no-shows, in my career as a merc.
For me the main issue is timers on maps vs the time zone I'm in. Most of the PCs I've been offered a spot in have been between 4am and 6am for me, which makes it difficult (if not impossible) to take part when these PCs fall mid-week.

Yeah, the irony... People bitched about port to PC (as a computer) because you apparently you need to buy all that additional stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the tips, but in no effin way I'm going to spend cash on new hardware and what not just to play a game that's on life support, that's just stupid. As for fiber optic.. heh, somehow all the games play just fine, but dust needs a better connection? lol
EDIT: I haven't tried with trophies though, I'm turning it off right now to see how it works EDIT2 : apparently my trophie settings have been always "OFF"... |

Regarding the connection.. and ways to improve it.
I play PC pretty regularly, with no SSD.. I think one point in my favour is the Super Slim PS3. Add to that - delete all mails+contacts - my PS3 consists of dust and Dust - less than 10 suit fittings.
That is literally all I do, along with a decent fiber connection (which at this stage should not be uncommon)
The majority of DMG, are the same (not using SSD) and most don't bother with the system clean-ups or limiting fittings (Varoth Drac I'm looking in your direction!) so I would argue that while these things suggested hand a benefit, not essential.
- dzizur, I was in that team against you (Standby Retaliation V Made In Poland)
And judging by your experience in that fight.. we most likely had server advantage, it's a kick in the nuts and my most HATED dust mechanic, that one team is handed an advantage via server, even so, in battles where we are against the server you can still play and this is where being in a PC Corp really helps, as a guy lagging can back-out, and either rejoin or be replaced by a TCO on standby.. So yes there are some blood rituals involving goats.. but that's part of it at this stage. (re-joining PC's certainly has a good effect on game performance 70% of the time)
- stefan, for shame.. I just ignore my phone and hope lil timmy doesn't fall down a well.
The time commitment is harsh and unpredictable when defending districts, attacks can land any day forcing teams to either get replacements, lose a district or just take a beatdown as you are missing key players, but again, having a PC Corp is useful here as you can vary the teams or squad leaders when some cannot make the battles.
- Mega / Lightning / Juno
Timezones are a pain, the only Corp on Australian suited timers is WarRavens and they seem to have peace agreements with with the Asian TZ Corps, so the main challenge for activity in that TZ is neutral = not many battles. Some players will have to accept to particpate they may need to change Corps to a more suitable TZ, or make the effort of arranging them yourself with your friends.. there is no way around it other than taking the leap into Corp activity.
Thanks for the feedback I hope more is added, who knows, maybe someone at CCP will take notice. PC 2.0 was about increasing PC activity for those previously blocked out by the players, so if CCP have any sense they will take the casual players views into acount. Despite any hardships in getting PC activity, it is the best mode available for Dust514

I don't blame you at all, you shouldn't have to, I did, because, well I don't know how I feel about it now
all valid complaints and you're right they should NOT be rectified through spending a tonne of cash why should that be the answer?
well DUST shouldn't need a better connection, on ADSL on a 8mb line it has enough downstream or upstream but if it's a shared network you need the extra bandwidth.
