Why can't this be done? I mean, a lot of people are already complaining about games not being matched up correctly, where maybe in reality it is the power of the items comparative from one team to another.
This supposedly makes the TTK's close for the suits anybody use (me being a huge MLT user), and can actually take down someone when you don't have enough ISK.
And if the Dust Team looks at this and actually considers this, could you restrict every proto/officer item? Even if someone puts a proto weapon on an advanced suit?
Maybe you want to keep the game in a more free kind of environment, which I have nothing against, because you guys created the game. But it is just something that I thought should be out there.
Fair TTK's are great. This is why most PCs are very close and fair, because it makes more people use their strongest gear, not one team having a MLT suit because they can, and the other full proto. This is probably why people hate "unbalanced" teams, just saying.
This goes out to all you cool CPM dudes out there too. Keep up the great work!

This is what I would like but I would make an exception for APEX Suits; they are listed as Proto but really fall somewhere in between Standard and Advanced Suits. |

What good does that do?
My advanced fit dumps on most newbies full proto fits because I have every single attribute maxed out. At least now they can pull out proto in an attempt to counter me if you wish. You can restrict it to militia suits in pubs and newbies still going to get stomped by coordination and higher skill bonuses.
More armor More shields More module efficacy More fitting space More damage ...
That is before you count the fact that most of us have several suits and weapons maxed out for full versatility while newbs do not even have one suit properly maxed out.
The only voice for a port is the voice of reason from money drying up.
More skins and 1% damage to keep Dust on PS3.

If they do this you would have to include complex mod's, equipment and vehicals ( along with their mod's )
If you are running mostly milita you are making most of your own problems. Ex. Single hives, single grenade, slower reload, less ammo. Once you have access to basic gear it's just dumb to not use it. |

You forgot scan precision Profile
And don't forget even milita tanks with no skills vs max skill pilots in milita. Its amazing the first time you run a maxed out tank and destroy an installation before it gets a shot off. |

We don't have enough fitting slots for 10+ suits with STD through PRO variants. I literally don't have a fitting that isn't at least proto. You've got so many situational fits.
But I also find myself on pathetic teams a lot and I feel zero shame in running proto.
Seriously, port it.

I was thinking this earlier. I'm sure it'd still be one side stomping the other but I rather just get my ass kicked than have my d!ck kicked in. It'd just make pubs overall better; sure most of us will still be getting those lvl 5 bonuses but they're less of an advantage on advance and less than they are on proto & officer.
At the very least, officer should be prohibited in pubs; the amount I've seen is just fcking ridiculous.

Not like these proto/officer stompers die much anyways except when they have the balls to stay in a match against other proto/officer stompers.

Most of the time, blueberries die fast because they don't know what they're up against. They'd bring their standard stuff and try to put up against a proto suit, which we all know how it ends.
It is just that they don't have enough time (they get killed too fast to react) to put up any damage that would actually help others go in for the kill. If they restrict proto and you still have a bad team, I guess it's just new players experiencing New Eden. Gotta at least give them a chance.

I understand what you're telling me. The reason why I don't agree to this is because I know it is better to have a fun, competitive game rather than having your team face a proto group that just makes everybody on your side leave. We don't want that. A game where clutches involving the whole team could actually happen, instead of just one smart person playing the right suit to try to reduce the enemy's force count.
And yeah, veterans who run proto everything all day and use unfair suits like Jumpy MD fits in pubs need to be given the experience of death. I don't like it when I have those kinds of people on my team, but I just sit there and wait for my payout. This could be easily fixed by this, just saying...

It's not about the rounds you have to land on the enemy, it's about the time you have to do it. With the differences shown in your link and the time difference it would take to eliminate the enemy, is actually a significant difference. You've got the enemy shooting at you with their rounds, so if you don't play your movements right, you could probably not get any shots in the enemy.

A gentleman's rule to never use proto right? Yeah that'll happen.
Not having knowledge that you're squad is running pro/officer gear ( because your in a squad ) is a better deterrent to stomps than meta lock or pro lockout.
When in a squad of high sp, high skill players I average 9/10 wins, when solo it's more like 1/3 wins. Organization and shared passive's plus significant wp bonus and orbital strikes = wins. Not gear, it helps but it's not a win button. |

Proto gear is not the problem.....we've been saying this for the longest time. Why can't you guys see this? Sure...proto vs mlt gear, you might get smoked. But the weapons from different tiers are so close to each other, it really doesn't give you that much of an edge.
Running squads is the problem. When one squad is in the game vs randoms, that squad has a big impact. Especially when that squad is filled with great players. Even if there is one squad on each side but one squad is significantly better than the other squad. That weaker squad and team will get floored causing their blues to stop playing or quit.
But if you eliminate squads and everyone solo queues....than there is no squad coordination (giving one side an advantage) and you have a better chance (I'm guessing) of getting good players on both sides.
About your friends comment....one of the things that I loved about Dust back when I first started was the fact that you can talk to anyone whether you guys are in the same game or not. Now, I hate playing games where the squad max is 4 and you have 12 people on because you can't talk to them. We used to be in a chat channel with 20 guys in it all commed up. Although I wasn't in the same squads as them, those were good times because we could still bug out and make jokes.

Essential parts of the game that give you the REAL edge. Proto gear makes it unfair even if you aren't in a squad. But that's not the point
Dust is huge because of its interplanetary control. Corporations are climbing the ranks, becoming recognized. It is the player's fault for not finding a corp, and becoming better at a game.
Take another game into consideration. Battlefield is a great game. There are still noobs out there, but that game is not as complex as this one. Teamwork is a huge display in Battlefield, and if you don't have that, you are guaranteed to keep dying, whereas when pointing out enemies rushing objectives could save someone's life.
It's not the fact that squads are ruining games. That's just my opinion, these are debate-worthy topics.

If the Dust Team restricted proto gear, then any squad won't be a problem.
Even if it's not a garentee that everyone on each team is going to fight hard, nobody has a large advantage just because of squad perks. Squads in pubs is why NPE is so bad ( since most are solo and know nothing about joining corps ).
People that want to be a part of the social side of the game and the most competitive mode's FW/PC should be able to but those teams vs mostly random casual players do not need squad perks.
I also think that the huge amount of isk made in PC for Corp funds has fueled proto stomping for to long. Some large corps make billions every week, making some players uber rich and allowed them to run only the best and buy up every piece of officer gear available. I have not been sucking the Corp tweet and I have over a billion isk... And I'm considered poor. |

Yet another good point basic gear limitations on rounds should also limit payouts or it will just be farm isk mode.
A proto suit cost 19.23 times more than basic the payout should reflect that so a normal payout of 250k would be reduced to about 13k. Example I run advanced suits all round averaged 50k in cost, lose 5 make 1000 wp get paid 250k break even. I run milita gear/starter/basic average cost of 2500 isk lose 5 make 1000 wp get paid 13k I profit. Fair right?
Also apex suits would have to be blocked due to the extra cpu/pg and bandwidth. |

Sorry I did kinda put words in your mouth there. It's been an emotional day for me. Whether it's lvl 0 or lvl 5, I'm very much for some sort of skill (SP) equalization in pubs. Add to that a limit to the tier of your gear or stat equalization on gear, and Dust might have a chance at hanging on to a lot more new players than it currently does.
BTW, I did some numbers regarding the difference that tiers have.
EDIT: TLDR on the numbers is Skills alone = 30%, ADV gear = 55%, PRO = 93%. Comparing the difference from skills alone to ADV (25%) , and skills alone to PRO (63%), my guess is that CCP never intended PRO to be used in pubs at all. |

Well to be fair, I'm glad you put words in my mouth, otherwise I wouldn't have thought to further clarify my position. Whether or not CCP intended for proto to be used in pubs they did originally intend for it to be rarely used. I'm sure they knew that some players would be able to afford to use it in pubs but it certainly wasn't meant to be spammed as if it were basic and officer was meant to only be used in battles that actually mattered like PC's instead of being thrown around like candy.

So I'm guessing you've been around a fair bit longer than me, what do you think are the chances that the stat equalization idea could get any traction with the CPM? |

So I'm guessing you've been around a fair bit longer than me, what do you think are the chances that the stat equalization idea could get any traction with the CPM? I've been around since open beta but I don't really know the members of CPM all that well. Most of them I wouldn't willingly associate with based on the corps they've been in or are in. Some are content with the stompus quo, Darth for example, I've seen him and his ilk stomp the ever living sh!t out of teams that couldn't make it out of the redline several times and then blame CCP for it when I confronted him about it instead of accepting the fact they chose to do it.
With CPM, I'll be generous enough to say your guess is as good as mine. However with CCP, if they want this game to grow, stat equalization should gain some traction. Then again that's barring them being concerned with getting more money than more players as the current state of the game encourages buying AUR more than stat equalization would.

I am all for removing squads in pubs but skirmish would need to be removed from pubs as well.
All other game modes are very viable with no squads.

I suggested in a posting earlier that sonething like this be done. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=217876 My thought was make a mode with everything basic or militia grade. Lets be real here.
You're not complaining about Proto Suits.
You're complaining about the people in them.
Nobody has ever whined or complained about that horrible dude in proto who goes 0-11.
You want skill based matchmaking, which will never happen in Dust due to our HORRIFICALLY LOW PLAYERBASE.
If you meta lock tiers, you will still get the ever loving bejesus stomped out of you by Advanced suits.
Lowering the bar isn't the answer. If anything, they just need to nerf the cost of proto suits or increase payouts.
Let everyone run the blingy toys. Proto suits are hella fun with their versatility and fitting power. I would love to see more matches of full proto.

Why do we even have it? How does crappy POS gear on the cheap enhance the game in a meaningful capacity? Vertical mobility on a power scale? Pfff. Cool. You get the same thing, but better. Whoo. Fun gameplay. Whoo. My new gun does 1.23 more damage per shot, and 20 more DPS. Whoo. That's fun.
Delete everything and focus more on "horizontal" mobility into new gear and stuff.
