Why can't this be done? I mean, a lot of people are already complaining about games not being matched up correctly, where maybe in reality it is the power of the items comparative from one team to another.
This supposedly makes the TTK's close for the suits anybody use (me being a huge MLT user), and can actually take down someone when you don't have enough ISK.
And if the Dust Team looks at this and actually considers this, could you restrict every proto/officer item? Even if someone puts a proto weapon on an advanced suit?
Maybe you want to keep the game in a more free kind of environment, which I have nothing against, because you guys created the game. But it is just something that I thought should be out there.
Fair TTK's are great. This is why most PCs are very close and fair, because it makes more people use their strongest gear, not one team having a MLT suit because they can, and the other full proto. This is probably why people hate "unbalanced" teams, just saying.
This goes out to all you cool CPM dudes out there too. Keep up the great work!

It'd just make pubs overall better; sure most of us will still be getting those lvl 5 bonuses but they're less of an advantage on advance and less than they are on proto & officer. At the very least, officer should be prohibited in pubs; the amount I've seen is just fcking ridiculous. Without the proto gear in these matches, the payouts are ****. Simple solution, up the payout. Edit: Payouts are pretty sh!t now as it is. Not like these proto/officer stompers die much anyways except when they have the balls to stay in a match against other proto/officer stompers. I would definitely agree to increasing the payout. It is just up to CCP for what they are going to do about it.

My advanced fit dumps on most newbies full proto fits because I have every single attribute maxed out. At least now they can pull out proto in an attempt to counter me if you wish. You can restrict it to militia suits in pubs and newbies still going to get stomped by coordination and higher skill bonuses.
More armor More shields More module efficacy More fitting space More damage ...
That is before you count the fact that most of us have several suits and weapons maxed out for full versatility while newbs do not even have one suit properly maxed out.
You're being ridiculous. Removing Prototype Gear from Public Contracts will help newbies in their overall experience in this game which might just help them stay committed to this game long enough to skill up their Core Skills. Removing Prototype gear from Public Contracts will also help some of the veterans who, usually due to no lack of effort on their own part, get their ass whipped constantly. We don't have enough fitting slots for 10+ suits with STD through PRO variants. I literally don't have a fitting that isn't at least proto. You've got so many situational fits. But I also find myself on pathetic teams a lot and I feel zero shame in running proto. It would become very few times you were on a pathetic team if they did this. Most of the time, blueberries die fast because they don't know what they're up against. They'd bring their standard stuff and try to put up against a proto suit, which we all know how it ends.
It is just that they don't have enough time (they get killed too fast to react) to put up any damage that would actually help others go in for the kill. If they restrict proto and you still have a bad team, I guess it's just new players experiencing New Eden. Gotta at least give them a chance.

I understand what you're telling me. The reason why I don't agree to this is because I know it is better to have a fun, competitive game rather than having your team face a proto group that just makes everybody on your side leave. We don't want that. A game where clutches involving the whole team could actually happen, instead of just one smart person playing the right suit to try to reduce the enemy's force count.
And yeah, veterans who run proto everything all day and use unfair suits like Jumpy MD fits in pubs need to be given the experience of death. I don't like it when I have those kinds of people on my team, but I just sit there and wait for my payout. This could be easily fixed by this, just saying...

It's true skills are less of an advantage, but they're really not insignificant. Hey, those seconds in battle actually do matter. It's not about the rounds you have to land on the enemy, it's about the time you have to do it. With the differences shown in your link and the time difference it would take to eliminate the enemy, is actually a significant difference. You've got the enemy shooting at you with their rounds, so if you don't play your movements right, you could probably not get any shots in the enemy.

Until the Dust Team can give me a solid reason for why this isn't a good idea, I'm still gonna stick with this.

And using them too gives you that sense of power, and this game would technically be useless if proto was completely out of the game. Keep proto in the game, just don't spam it so hard.

A gentleman's rule to never use proto right? Yeah that'll happen. Not having knowledge that you're squad is running pro/officer gear ( because your in a squad ) is a better deterrent to stomps than meta lock or pro lockout. When in a squad of high sp, high skill players I average 9/10 wins, when solo it's more like 1/3 wins. Organization and shared passive's plus significant wp bonus and orbital strikes = wins. Not gear, it helps but it's not a win button. That is true. But overall teamwork and great competitive games is what I look forward to, not just winning. Of course, losing is not an option, but losing when you fight hard with a chance for redemption does kind of count. I guess?

If the Dust Team restricted proto gear, then any squad won't be a problem. Proto gear is not the problem.....we've been saying this for the longest time. Why can't you guys see this? Sure...proto vs mlt gear, you might get smoked. But the weapons from different tiers are so close to each other, it really doesn't give you that much of an edge. Running squads is the problem. When one squad is in the game vs randoms, that squad has a big impact. Especially when that squad is filled with great players. Even if there is one squad on each side but one squad is significantly better than the other squad. That weaker squad and team will get floored causing their blues to stop playing or quit. But if you eliminate squads and everyone solo queues....than there is no squad coordination (giving one side an advantage) and you have a better chance (I'm guessing) of getting good players on both sides. About your friends comment....one of the things that I loved about Dust back when I first started was the fact that you can talk to anyone whether you guys are in the same game or not. Now, I hate playing games where the squad max is 4 and you have 12 people on because you can't talk to them. We used to be in a chat channel with 20 guys in it all commed up. Although I wasn't in the same squads as them, those were good times because we could still bug out and make jokes. Squads relate to skill, & teamwork. Essential parts of the game that give you the REAL edge. Proto gear makes it unfair even if you aren't in a squad. But that's not the point
Dust is huge because of its interplanetary control. Corporations are climbing the ranks, becoming recognized. It is the player's fault for not finding a corp, and becoming better at a game.
Take another game into consideration. Battlefield is a great game. There are still noobs out there, but that game is not as complex as this one. Teamwork is a huge display in Battlefield, and if you don't have that, you are guaranteed to keep dying, whereas when pointing out enemies rushing objectives could save someone's life.
It's not the fact that squads are ruining games. That's just my opinion, these are debate-worthy topics.

Although I wasn't in the same squads as them, those were good times because we could still bug out and make jokes. Even if it's not a garentee that everyone on each team is going to fight hard, nobody has a large advantage just because of squad perks. Squads in pubs is why NPE is so bad ( since most are solo and know nothing about joining corps ). People that want to be a part of the social side of the game and the most competitive mode's FW/PC should be able to but those teams vs mostly random casual players do not need squad perks. I also think that the huge amount of isk made in PC for Corp funds has fueled proto stomping for to long. Some large corps make billions every week, making some players uber rich and allowed them to run only the best and buy up every piece of officer gear available. I have not been sucking the Corp tweet and I have over a billion isk... And I'm considered poor. Ok ok. You guys have convinced me about squads in pubs. I'm still going to keep with no proto in pubs too though.

Why do we even have it? How does crappy POS gear on the cheap enhance the game in a meaningful capacity? Vertical mobility on a power scale? Pfff. Cool. You get the same thing, but better. Whoo. Fun gameplay. Whoo. My new gun does 1.23 more damage per shot, and 20 more DPS. Whoo. That's fun.
Delete everything and focus more on "horizontal" mobility into new gear and stuff.
On, wait. Meaningful development on DUST has ceased. Maybe for the next iteration of an EVE FPS/DUST. Maybe... We have to understand CCP is constantly working. If they didn't care, why would they continue to introduce new hotfixes? They also aren't only working on DUST at the moment. Have patience guys.
