The last thing ADS/DS's need is a swarm launcher doing even more damage, lol.
It really is a shame there's not a variant type for each race for each type of weapon for these racials to actually truly mean customization. As it stands we're always forced into the same weapons with the same suits due to lack of variety :( |

Minmatar Commando just gets a bonus to "Projectile/Explosives" and swarm launchers were just included in that category.

Swarms are caldari, hence why Rattati is thinking of swapping them to the kinetic/rails profile, so the calmando can use them.
They are, and always have been a caldari weapon.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

Wasn't the NK bonus only a placeholder for the Min Combat Knives that were never implemented?

I've now used all the commandos!!!
And i've a question....
Are there any bad commandos, at all?
The Min was so godly I can't put it down anymore - it's my new go to suit.
Gal is such a beast with AR/SG that it's turned into a better point defense then my actual heavy suits.
Caldari with Rails is pretty beastly - but I mostly enjoyed it's survibility. This is probably the worst of the commando's - yet still fun.
And Amarr Coammando with my ASCR was just LOL!
How would you guys rate the Commando suits?

Alright Commando kin here's the deal.
I've been chewing on - in between everything else - the polish of the equipment line(s) since sometime during CPM 1. I'm now in a position to dive more directly into it and I'd like to hear your call outs from the perspective of commando play about what is potent, what is weak, what do you actually fit on your suits and why.
Give me the lowdown on your use cases so I can stick them on the walls of my cubical o' doom and incorporate them into my rework efforts.
Details are vastly important here, specifics highly useful and clearly contextualized numbers welcomed (though numbers are not required, specific non-mathematically feedback is more than sufficient).
Cheers, Cross
CPM mail me your feedback and remember to have fun!

Equipment? Aside from the requisite hives/uplinks, I've found a scanner to be invaluable on my CQC/slayer fits...It isn't perfect but it does help counter the Commando's biggest weakness, which is no eWar capability whatsoever....
I personally try to have Commando fittings for as many battle situations I can think of...In general, the combinations I've had the best success with are:
1. Dual AR (Tac+Standard) 2. Breach AR + Shottie (CQC) 3. Burst AR + Combat Rifle 4. Standard AR + Mass Driver 5. Breach AR + Tac Sniper Rifle
The good-but-not-great combinations: 1. Combat Rifle + Laser Rifle (I have Quafe versions of both, so it's a free build) 2. AR + Swarm Launcher (whenever I pull out this suit, all the vehicles vanish so I'm stuck lugging a useless weapon) 3. Plasma Cannon + Swarm Launcher (Strictly AV fitting)
Of course your results may vary depending how how much you've skilled into particular weapons...I used to have some Rail/Scambler Rifle fittings, but I did a respec last week and decided to leave those weapons alone this time around... |

So I'm thinking I want to start speccing into commando. I've got about 10m SP to play with.
- I'm not rich so Proto is out for the most part - My gun game is average. Having hit detection issues playing from Aus doesn't help but still, I can admit it's not great to start with. - I prefer weapons with optics - I'd prefer an in-and-out of cover playstyle over a stand-and-slay playstyle - Forge gun looks cool - I usually like to run with a squad
With all that in mind, what do you think would work well for me as far as fits and SP allocation go?

e. I should say that my cores are pretty much sorted out. Gun game is average, likes to work with a squad, and likes a hit and run playstyle. I think your best choice is probably the Galmando. I recommend skilling into the PLC, AR, and Shotgun all at once and having several different kinds of fits. On your shotgun fits you want to have at least one complex kincat, if not two along with either a complex rep or a cardiac reg if you don't care about reps. For your all purpose fit you might want to have your AR of choice along with a PLC for anti-tank work/skillshots on infantry. You want to have two reps in your lows along with 1 complex armor plate. And most of all you want to stick with a squad at all times.
A commando is a force multiplier, it does well in a group of people but going solo is harder to manage. The reason for this is its slow speed and big hitbox.
For Gallente Commando have 3-4 different variations of fittings: PLC+AR Shotgun+AR Breach Shotgun+Regular Shotgun

Lovely, thanks. What are some guidelines I should follow for fitting the suit up? Damage mods + mobility? Is it fine to rely on the suits natural tank for the most part, maybe chucking a rep on if there's no logi?
What's the idea for the Shotgun + Shotgun fit? Is it so you can empty the mag then swap guns and empty another mag?

And most of all you want to stick with a squad at all times. A commando is a force multiplier, it does well in a group of people but going solo is harder to manage. The reason for this is its slow speed and big hitbox. For Gallente Commando have 3-4 different variations of fittings: PLC+AR Shotgun+AR Breach Shotgun+Regular Shotgun Lovely, thanks. What are some guidelines I should follow for fitting the suit up? Damage mods + mobility? Is it fine to rely on the suits natural tank for the most part, maybe chucking a rep on if there's no logi? What's the idea for the Shotgun + Shotgun fit? Is it so you can empty the mag then swap guns and empty another mag? e. What about equipment? I was thinking a rep hive? Equipment should be either a guaged nanohive or a rep hive.
As for fittings I would put at least one kin cat on all your shotgun fits. For anything else I would use 2 complex reps and 1 complex plates.
And in the high slots always use damage mods, unless you feel like having fun and using myos.
