Anything that restricts fluid movement like the strafe nerf did is a bad thing for Dust or any fps, movement now feels sluggish, stiff and clunky. |

Yep. All I see now is heavy n logi train with assaults sitting with long range rifles 50-80 meters away. And the assault rifle is a joke now because the most important thing now is range. Who ever out ranges each other wins.

Idiot doesn't know math. .7 to .6 is way more then 10%. It's around 15%. Plus the one percent nurf to assault speed that make it around 16%. That was only side to side. There were other speed nurfs to.
That means a 50-60% increase to the nurf then which you thought.. Which is a lot if you think about it.

Movement is fine. Sorry you cant run in a circle avoiding 90% of enemy fire while relying on aim assist to kill your enemy anymore. Guess you'll have to play STRATEGICALLY...
Personally I love it. Now fix the pistol glitch and Assault hoppers and the game mostly requires real thought instead of guys so used to glitches its the only way they know how to play.

Exactly. I am shocked how much better my K/D is. So its sad how much of a cheat this was. This change has doubled my K/D in most games. So that means there were that many wiggle dancers every game. Ambush is now actually fun. Instead of some officer level ******* running up to me in open ground while plinking me down as I hide in cover I now smoke his proto ass.
Honestly, I was going to quite the game until this change. It makes the game much more deliberate and strategic. |

He is Clint Eastwood in this. BTW - You are just wrong. I have played a decent amount today and on my min ast with 2 kins, I still strafe just fine. Yeah, I can't run sideways as fast as forward, but that was a stupid mechanic to begin with. They fixed things. You want sluggish back and sideways, go try Battlefield, they have a 40% reduction to movement speeds that aren't forward, which is realistic. People now use cover and run the direction they are pointed, so leading them is possible. The 2 guns benefiting the most are the MD and snipers. Otherwise, stop dancing and aim for the other guy's head.

I'm looking forward to trying my sentinel. I have a feeling the HMG will feel very nice now people can't dance through the bullets as easily.
Played a game with my Amarr commando, was amazing. The speed increase is great, and the strafe changes didn't seem to be bad for it.
Got to try my AR assault, as my most strafing suit it will be interesting to see how it goes. |

In regards to the topic, this is so much better than before. I didn't realize how many DDR514 players we had. When people are running you can actually follow them. If someone is running at you or doing the circle jerk, there seems to be bullets actually CONNECTING.
Now this is more in line with a tactical shooter. Use movement, cover and avenue of approach to gain an advantage. Not a wiggle wiggle clusterfuck broken mechanic.

No, the technique was not about standing up on top of a hill out in the open. It was standing just behind the hilltop and peeking over; The closest thing we can get to peeking over/around objects without totally exposing our mercs to enemy fire. Being able to move in and out of cover is an important part of battle. Now, strafe speeds are slowed to the point that ttk is too fast to actually make it to cover, even if you're standing right beside it or nearly behind it. |

Strafe was .6 of forward movement in chromosome and i dont remember hearing complaints about strafing back then from either camp. Its currently .7 which is still fasterthan chromosome. People just need to readjust I think. |

I run a Calmando, not exactly the most fleet of foot. I have no problems peeking around a building or cover and getting back in time. I'm not running out into the open or on top of a hill doing a wiggle dance so people can't hit me.
Now, the jumping over cover argument I can agree with. I think thw myofib jump bonus could be turned down amd just give a slight bump to jumping for all suits so a fat suit can jump over a crack without getting stuck.

I like the change, then again I detest strafing to defeat gunfire and was pretty terrible defending against it. So its a win win for me.
Acquisition is terrible, matchmaking is terrible, your game is still riddled with bugs, you should feel bad.

I agree that it feels sluggish but I also feel like there is far more emphasis on gun game, tactics, and stamina management .
It is just a huge difference that we all need time to adjust too.

I sure as hell would because i love the challenge of trying to handle the strafe/gungame of the best players in the game. Not a universal sentiment, it appears.

This only counts to the scouts and Minmatar assault really since they're the strafe units of dust. Because no matter how good you are at this game, if they are faster by a huge margin they will strafe circles around you. No longer the case now

Let's put it this way: It can't handle it, so there's no point in trying to figure that out. Also, someone actually hurt over their balanced strafe speed? If you can out DPS someone all because of wiggle strafe, then there's something clearly wrong, no TACTICAL SHOOTER should ever allow massive strafe speed's to be actual skill, maybe small amount's of strafe, but nothing that ACTUALLY effect's the entire game system. So get used to it, and like what armor player's tell us shield player's: GIT GUD.

As Rattati expressed, this is one component that can be dialed forward or dialed back, until the sweet spot is found. It's not a "Full ON" or "Full OFF" thing we need to be afraid of.
Yes, "tactical" does imply we should be using cover and sneaking and waiting for ground-support more, not rushing up and dancing our opponent to death as much as we still do. The game needs to make us more nervous and hesitant about "rolling up on him" all the time.
BUT, if combat in New Eden is about tactics, the pressure (and our expectations) will fall on our Dropsuit technology to beef up enough to support our tactical actions. So now, if I AM going to hide behind the rock at far range, my Caldari suit better be worth SP I sank into its designGǪ my Amar suit better be good at powering the Hardeners the way I need, etc. This combat is now REALLY becoming a story about "suiting up" correctly. Can't bet your money on nimble feet anymore.
I think CCP is well aware of thatGǪ and it's why they are perfecting suit characteristics at the same time as these strafe-tweaks they are doing. In spite of all our bantering,GǪ they do know their stuff.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Couldn't agree with you more.
I was sick and tired of trying to shoot someone while ADS while they just Eddy Gordo'd me. Especially with the Bolt Pistol.
Four shots should have landed as head shots to the Minmatar Assault? Nah. Blue shields, no damage. GG Seraphim. -.-
I'm having similar (or better) KDR since the update. Don't know why all the scrubs are crying over this. Filled three barrels of tears already.

This change is most positive since Chromosome, sometimes when engaging "8" moving matar assault i was just giving up, like "ah, just a game f@## this moonwalker".
So, thanks, at least for me as solo player i have a chance against dancing logi + heavy combo.

Lol finally, someone who actually get's the idea.
There has always been one critical issue for me and this game, it's not the hit detection, it's not the lack of content, and it's not the OP weapon's. It's the fact that I sink most if not ALL my SP into something and I hardly get my SP's worth, In most game's your awarded greatly and powerfully when you specialize your character in a certain form or style, be it uniquely magic or stealth, or being a straight up bad ass with a giant sword on your back, you the player, in this game, is not rewarded, even if you use the FOTM it's not a true reward, it's just another thing you skilled into.
I'd love to have a much more in depth model of the Skill tree, where I can actually skill into the specific part's of the suit itself, and not just skill into basic to level 3 and assault to level 5 and be done with it, and then move on, that take's away from one's own personality, if you just skill into the next thing, be done with it, and move on.

Put another way, what is ideal TTK and in what situation. (For example - A CR that kills an average suit with 1 bullet is clearly OP however a PLC that takes say 2 or more shots to kill that same suit would be pathetically UP)

Being serious though, we already do have beast mode suits of armor and shield's that can deflect huge munition's? That was a thing back in CB but let's not bring up old shield wound's. However we already have 1 shot head shot killing weapon's and a couple of chest shot type game play, most of which are in the form of scout's/logi's/ and non-tanked assault's, or the common academy player. So I don't really understand your comment, please elaborate.

I havent run into any wiggle wiggle since the patch, but that might be because of my non confrontational play style (I much prefer to confront your butthole with my naughty bits).
