its nice to see things moving forward and i hope that a lot of it is being built ready to port the game to PC and eventually current gen home consoles Don't live in the past. What's done is done. The best thing that we can do is have a more promising future. And players are a lot easier to come by than morale. I think a lot of the people hanging on obviously want to see a promising future. These updates are great, but I hope CCP sees the potential in taking Dust to a new platform soon and announces something.
yup thats kinda how i feel. i'd love if it moved onto PC and eventually consoles again. i'm just not sure what CCP are doing, it doesn't really make much sense to be putting this much effort into a 'dead' game on a console that by christmas will be pretty much retired. sure sign is when EA stop making FIFA on the console y'know its dead then lol

As someone considering giving up Dust all together, this actually sounds like quite a nice update... It will almost certainly make PC more important.
However, there's no sign of a fix for the "get half way through a match and watch the framerate drop to an unplayable level" issue, which renders it... Sadly, quite pointless.

Good point. I was wondering if WP for OBs will be summed for the entire squad (team) as well?

The only way that is going to happen is we lessen the amount of stuff we commit to memory in the game and there are a lot of designs in the works to aid in that. SKINs were designed solely to reduce the memory load attributed and Power Cores are also going to be a big push for performance.
Rest assured, performance is still one of my biggest priorities and I'm always trying to figure out ways to go about it. Including this thread .

Everything regarding PC 2.0 looks fantastic; and very rarely am I 100% satisfied with a feature!
Regarding squad sizes though, I'm concerned about the primary social tool in this game (the squad) dropping to 4 for the main relaxed game mode (pubs). Telling players they can only play with 3 friends at a time in an MMO seems a poor prospect to me. :\
A thought: Is there any way we can set up a crappy cue-sync? Like, the Matchmaker will put the synced Fireteams into the same fight, but the Team-balancer won't care, and thus will likely put them on opposing sides?

Feedback and Questions:
1) Mission difficulty and Command Point rewards Is it possible to vary the amount of CP's (still hate that acronym) by the difficulty of the respective daily mission?
For instance, I have two right now that are good examples of why they should be varied:
Servitor - Achieve 3 enemy Kill Assists Saboteur - Hack 12 Primary Objective(s)
Each of these would potentially gain 100 CPs for my corporation, but are arguably different extremes in difficulty. IMO, daily missions should be handled a bit differently depending on the mission and how difficult that mission is to achieve.
2) Non-paying players and Command Point gains from aurum missions If I have a member in my corporation who is especially active but doesn't pay Aurum for the whole 'Activate Instant Booster' daily mission, isn't it a little unfair by comparison to someone who does pay Aurum? What are the considerations to that mission specifically?
3) Non-paying players and re-rolls Subsequently if a member of my corporation doesn't use Aurum for daily missions, are we to expect that they'd use their log-in aurum bonus to re-roll the missions they can't necessarily complete for whatever reason?

You know,,
CCP could limit the number of Squads to deploy per Faction battle to 1 (8 player team) and require the rest to be Fire teams or single players.
I'd really wish CCP would look into allow escalation gameplay where extra "fire teams" are added to a losing match for a greater reward for turn around.. IE, 4 additional player are dropped into battle. Squads and Fireteams with a number of wins will have a higher change of getting escalated for a harder fight and better reward.

Is that definitely the issue though? Would pubs not suffer more than PC, since in pubs you've usually got everyone doing their own thing, half the people running proto while the rest are split between militia/basic/advanced, while in PC most people have one job and they stick to that role, spamming the hell out of it for the whole match.
I'd expect to see the memory issue rear its ugly head just as much in pubs and FW as it does in PC, but that just isn't the case, it rarely ever happens and certainly not to the same degree... Is there some difference I'm missing between the way the gamemodes are run? |

I actually feel cautiously optimistic that might be the best move.
Q syncing will still be much easier anyways with 2 8-man squads.
If you need 2 squad leaders to deploy 16 players into a match then it is one too much. If people are going to q-sync anyway then at least make their lives easier by adding team deploy to FW. Cause in the end of the day when one of the squad leaders is not deploying into the same match then they are cancelling the search an try again. Which then leads to FW matches starting with 8 people down on one side. Like always, there are a few things to consider. - Balance issue potential - Condensing the majority of FW into a single match. Perhaps randoms will say "well, I'm not in the big team deploy, there's clearly no point in playing FW". I would worry FW might downgrade into two teams that play each other over and over. - Like above, lack of diversity amongst players. It's not like these issues don't exist already mind you, but that doesn't mean we should design the game to make these flaws worse. Eventually, making FW battles 32v32, or even larger would help this. But even then, we boil down to the problem of the small community to begin with. End of the day, I just think we're being a little too premature with the freakouts on this matter. FW (along with a lot of other features) is getting a huge improvement. Let's remember that. If you want matches to be 32v32 we need bigger maps. It would be easy too, just add to big sockets together like maybe a Gallente Research Facility on one end and Ace in the hole on the other end with a couple small sockets in between.

I really feel like platoons and squads should be reconsidered. I was under the impression that platoons would essentially be a team deploy tool, not a replacement for squads. If this is not the case then that needs to be changed ASAP.
8 man squads is not practical in a 16v16 unless its a 3 point map. However, 6 man squads for 16v16 wasn't perfect either. Instead of changing the squad capacity, the amount of players in battle should be adjusted for FW and PC
Squads capacity should remain 6, and FW and PC should become 18v18, and platoons should hold squads, not replace them.

Also allow platoons in FW for flux sake
As far as I understand it, the squad capacity is capped at 8. You don't need to fill that, though. You could make four teams of four for a 5-point map, two teams of 5 and one team of 6 for a 4-point map, etc. Only the upper limit of squad counts have been raised. That doesn't effect the intermediate number of people that can be in a squad

Also allow platoons in FW for flux sake I have pushed for this, but I think the problem is it requires Rattati to go deep into the base code of the game, and from what I understand that is like traveling into a jungle with no machete.

Indeed.
He isn't restricting ringers, therefore there will be no power change.
I foresee a few panic merges that is about it... a few neck beards can run multiple accounts in one corp and knock out enough daily missions for small ringer corps to get **** done.
Mid-Size PC corps are virtually unaffected as the biggest deterrent is not enough DK points to sell clones for profit vs moving clones to attack... so they just ring in other battles with the "take what you kill" mechanic and get rich anyway.
They will still retain large district holdings. Mass attacks can and will be done by alt corps due to the free ringing...

Bigger maps? Dust maps were designed with 32 v 32 in mind, you are only thinking this because of the "Arena Mode Domination" and 2 other small maps. All the rest are huge and have a large amount of unused wasted space.
Most of the vehicle balance and infantry weapons would make a helluva lot more sense in a 32 v 32 environment, that is certain.

The corps currently in power (0.H and Cap ac) use full corp teams more often than not anyways. Ringer teams have not held any sort of power for half a year now.
Now with these changes of only getting rewards for fighting for your own corp more people will be doing PC's for their own corp to get the DK's not wanting to ring for others which generally results in losing isk with the keep what you kill mechanic.
Ringer corps will pretty much be playing under the old PC system where the only reward is "Take what you kill." Which 99% of PC feels is terrible way to play. So with that being said there is no benefit to alt corps, ringer corps or ringer teams when you compare it to corp teams.
I guess you will still have ringers in small corps who can not possibly field a full team, but i doubt people will go out of there way to be a corp counting 100% around ringers as it is not as profitable and ringers will be harder to find.
Why ring for other corps and lose isk, when you can play for your own and make it?

It all depends on the DK store being a good enough incentive, if it's meh as Rattati hints at there will be no change.

Yeah, I'm hoping he changes his mind on what the DK store will hold. He touted skins as a big seller, but honestly that alone isn't enough incentive. Hoping for some specialty items like the FW store.
Else, deekay will be mostly useless in my book.
