The point Joel is trying to make is that very few people who own a PS3 and broadband internet can't afford $5 - $10, I think.
I'm still extremely skeptical that OP is really loyalty rank 2 or 3 if has been playing his as long as he says he has. Maybe OP only plays a match per month.

I liked the idea of the Traders License someone brought up, so maybe there will be a work around.

Why buy a trader's license, which only nets you one thing: the ability to trade, when you could spend $10 in AUR on literally anything else and get loyalty rank + the ability to trade + that thing you just bought?
"Being around forever" has precisely nothing to do with loyalty rank. It's tied to activity. If Spade logs in once a week and plays a single match then yeah, his rank is going to be low. Working as intended.

The butthurt inside me is spreading... i can feel it Paying customers keep the lights on and development going for everyone. They are keeping the game the F2Pers enjoy going. That's loyalty.
Well, to be fair, if manufacturing, and playing the market like a fiddle ever becomes a actual viable profession, then it will be kinda broken.

Godin, how long did it take for us to get simple player trading? Let's all be honest here... we aren't going to see manufactoring anytime soon.

you do realize that one battle probably gives like one or two points toward your loyalty rank while winning may give a little more. And between level 0 and level 4 you have to earn thousands of points.

In a match I earn 2,000+ WPs: 4 XP + 2XP for the match + 2 if I win = 8 XP
Just play the game.
If that pace is too slow then buy the equivalent of one Burger King combo worth of AUR and you are there.

I think there is room for compromise though. The reason for the Loyalty Rank requirement is to prevent abuse, and nothing more.
If another mechanic can be equally effective in preventing abuse, while opening up trading to a greater number of players, particularly people who have stuck with the game through thick and thin, then I think that would be a better option.
Loyalty Rank should be a last resort option to prevent abuse, as this could literally be the one thing in this game that could be then described as P2W (available via real money that isn't reasonable available without it).

I'm loyalty rank 3 and a half or so right now, and i've been playing since chromosome also. I play a fair bit (a few hours a day, lately), so it's not THAT easy to get it to 4.
If they want any F2Pers trading, they need to lower it to 3, otherwise you pretty much have to spend a bit of money in order to unlock trading priviledges.
And before any nubs ask if i biomassed, or played another character alot, the answer is no; i've played the same character virtually forever. |
