UNREAL 4 FPS DEMO
Look the scout (presuming due to that sprint speed) wandering around what appears to be a Gallente inner metropolis building. It even has a Gallente/Minmatar Pirate Factional Weapon. Plasma accelerated bullets that has a damage profile of +5 to shields/+5 to armor. Tots op.
This could be us CCP.

Luminaire is a temperate world that was fully terraformed before the EVE Gate collapsed.
It probably looks a lot like Earth, considering it was terraformed by people from Earth...
And there are 1000s of temperate and terraformed planets in New Eden... 7200 to be exact.
It would be will to think than none of them look like Earth.

I highly doubt they are all dystopian slum cities on rainy planets...
At least a few of them have to be nice like that. Maybe a place where only the well-to-do Gallente live?
What on Earth makes you think that every city in New Eden is stereotypical to their Empire?
I'm sure there are beautiful and nasty cities all over the place in New Eden... Even the Minmatar probably have some seriously nice places.

More like you have to understand there is a tone with eve that is raw and ugly as the human soul; and quite similar to things in nature; the prettier it is the deadlier. Eve is a morbid place where people who carve their own paths of hope have very filthy hands. The best intentions paved on the roads of bones and the rivers of blood of those whose dreams they crush. Not even the SOE are free of this sin.
It's a cruel universe, it i s a universe where destruction and chaos rule; and because of that it is beautiful in its own right.
There is no way this could ever be a level in Dust 514; or anywhere in New Eden.

Just one problem. None of the buildings in the video look remotely like what I expect to see in New Eden. Not enough gold, so it can't be Amarrian. Not dull-looking or muted enough in color, so it can't be Caldari. No rust in sight, so it can't be Minmatar. Could be Gallentean but I don't see Quafe being advertised.

Those are not Gallente buildings at all. Hell they dont even fit the generic prefabs of new eden and those are the closest to earthen designs we have.

I understand that New Eden is a dark and depression emotastical place for you to cut yourself in, but to say that there aren't ANY nicer looking cities in the many millions of cities that there probably are is just ******* ********.
I know for a fact that there are luxury companies in New Eden. And that there are uber-rich people. Where do they live? In the slums with everyone else?
No. They probably live on beautiful planets in beautiful cities in the beautiful houses and go do business or recreation in beautiful cities. I know that if I had billions of ISK, and lived in New Eden, I'd want to live there, rather than just to top level of some slum...
The Gallente in particular have a massive class gap, where the poor live in squalor and the rich live in stupendous luxury. I'm imagining something like Elysium, but a completely different planet, rather than just a space station...

pfft the rich gallente cannot be sustained that far away; just not economical at all. Also what sort of society would they be if they kept the poor out? They have to be inclusive after all even if its in pain and suffering and misery.
Also not sure if you check but humans are pretty much a bunch of natural ruining assholes in new eden. The fact we have so many planets makes us squander most of it.

Nope. According to EvE lore...
All history of Earth was demolished when the gates collapsed. Technology took a massive dive, and they have been slowly rebuilding. Eventually, after their technology became sufficient, they found the ruins of earth starships etc, and salvaged them to learn the technology.
All of the technology they use has been "found" from one point or another, they didn't really develop it themselves. Every race are basically scavengers of some kind or another trying to make their mark in this arena of conflict.
It is highly unlikely that they learned of ecology, environmental safety, or even former earth aesthetics because they were given large leaps of which overrode many of the potential points where such things could have been learned. And with all these planets available, why preserve one planet, when you can just move to another? Turn subject planets into garbage yards, and not even bother with pollution standards. They found the technology to let them survive indefinitely in space, so why would a ruined atmosphere mean anything to them?
No doubt, that only the elite of the elite get to live in cities that are so open and under populated. But those cities would be HEAVILY engineered to fulfill a certain architecture style.
Most of the planets are war-zones caused by the masses of mini corporations vying for property and sales presence. You have to remember that unless it is one of the core home worlds, the governments really couldn't care less what happens on them.
As mentioned before, the only lands that would have such open architecture would be for the highly wealthy... which would mean a massive selection of personal armadas circling the planet ready to intercept even the smallest bug that would try an uninvited landing. If combat did happen to take place on the ground, there would have to be more crashed ships than buildings littering the landscape.
