Your just used to the war-torn industrial sectors. I'll take you on a vacay (my treat) show you the finer things in life. Just don't be a weirdo and walk around in your caldari suit. The problem is that you have an art director that very bent on keeping the theme. Would it be impossible for him to design structures in UE4? What's so special about UE3 that stops him from keeping the theme in other engines? Point of this thread is about the possibility of using UE4 engine. You guys seem sidetracked. Unfortunately some would rather derail the thread so people are not thinking about the fact that the game could be better. I wonder if his corn cob keeps him from using bar stools.

Dovallis Martan JenusKoll wrote:For example, if a race of humans had crash landed on a planet on a ship full of subservient nanomachines... and they had a technology wipe like the EvE pioneers had, the populations might eventually figure out how to get the machines to build objects, and hence believe it to be a form of sorcery etc. As a result the population would never learn about biology, such as bacteria and viruses, and believe that exorcism is the cure for all ailments. (as in using the nanomachines to take care of things)
That's not generally how it goes, at least not for long. Generally when someone is intelligent enough to get a machine to work it means they have an (though limited) understanding of mechanical engineering. Because let's face it, a bunch of agrarian-level inhabitants will never be able to get a machine to turn on if they don't even know what powers it let alone how to recreate such a power source. So unless someone in their society happens to be a skilled tinkerer who loves to experiment with all kinds of mechanical things, they'll never get around to getting those machines to work. Of course, such tinkerers are often regarded in agrarian societies as eccentric or crazy people.
Quote: This same setup will happen for any kind of technology that one gets suddenly. We can see it in third-world countries around the globe, this very same pattern. People learn only as much as they need to build and use the item, but not anything regarding what the item actually IS.
I find that exceedingly hard to believe because if a group of people learned how to build and use a tool, by then they will have learned and understood what the tool is mainly because they built it. Now if you took away the "build" factor and only taught them how to use it, then they might never fully understand what they were given.
Quote: Now, if you were to upscale that... to the massive degree that EvE has it... and it's an entirely different league of mislead assumptions and un-investigated logic. They can produce it, and they can use it, but their tweaking of the technology is clunky, and innovations are slow, due to the fact they have little understanding of what the core physics and mechanics were in the first place.
That is why the Amarr Empress Jamyl Sarum I had her guys build and use new implants from scratch based on the sleep implants they acquired but without the sleeper taint that the originals had. The first users of the sleeper implants did have problems with the sleeper taint, but after much reverse engineering to the point of being able to make an implant from scratch, this made the Templar program successful later on and then Jamyl offered the improved versions of the implants to the rest of the empires. Everything we learn is clunky and slow at first until we later learn how to refine it and make it more effective.
Quote: Piggybacking on technology that you only investigate as far as how to use, and slight improvements in personal use can have devastating effects. One such example would be the Sleepers. The capsuleers don't know they why or how about these entities, and yet they are still allowing such technology to be spread throughout their homes.
See my last statement regarding the Empress.
Also, the capsule technology used by Eve capsuleers was given by the Jove Directorate under collaboration with the Ishukone Corporation which wasn't implemented cluster wide until well after all of the trial and errors have worked out the kinks. The Jovians are human as well. Only genetically and technologically advanced since they were the only ones that never lost their technology when the Eve Gate collapsed.

I want the game to be better. Hell, it would be great if Dust was ported over with UE4.

The Jove empire wasn't exactly around during the gate collaspe; remember they dug up sleepers as we would have dug up ancient egyptians. Just that they had a first crack at not just sleepers but all the terran tech they can find; the only ones they left alone where stargates and one missing nova cannon.

More like this city looks untouched.
Have to remember there was a significantly very horrific empire wide war 100 years prior and many more minor conflicts since then. I mean having a super carrier slam into your then pristine capital city with no concern for how much damage you're going to cause makes Acurio disaster seem small despite the scale of the sizes of the two ships involved.
Hell more recently Sansha incursions have gotten most worlds on edge now. Its weaking governments as everyone is living in constant fear of being indoctrinated.

That's strange, I haven't heard of that. The only reference I can find on the Jove is this.

Overall, I prefer UE4 over the UE3 that we have. I'm just curious how long it would take to get it done.

The Gallente-Caldari War ended about 100 years ago. We had tense standoffs and a conflict over Caldari Prime recently, but nothing major beyond that except for FW battles in low-sec systems. But those are largely fought by Eve capsuleers and Dust mercenaries.
As for Sansha's Nation, the Eve capsuleers seem to be doing alright at keeping Sansha at bay despite the recent emergent threat posed by the Drifters and Circadian Drones entering high-sec space.

That looked like a good Demo for a station fight - the window view of a planet, maybe add some stars and call it a day with some concord and some armageddon's with smartbombs going at it out the window |
