But when is ping and hit detection going to be corrected?
Ping is easily fixed by region locking players in Pub and FW matches. Sorry Mex0Dust Slayer, Extasy Craving, Kaizuka, and lolSaxonmish, etc, but players from 3-5 separate continents shouldn't e able to play in the same matches, and players shouldn't be given the option to choose a server that's 12,000km away. Each region has a plentiful playerbase to choose from.
Either long ping players are easy kills because their hit boxes are on the screen 4 places at once, or they simply take minuscule damage because rendering is not lined up.
Hit-detection I feel is a matter of just slow software. The game cannot calculate damage and position fast enough. This is why explosives are quickly turning into the 50% of the killfeed, because marksmanship is just not a practical logic. You can have the best shot in the world, but firing "blanks" does nobody any good.
It's very evident with weapons such as FGs and Railgun Turrets. If firing at a long ping opponent, you'll find huge discrepancy. Such as your shots slowing down to crawl speed and floating across the map, or shot firing 1-2 seconds after you ceased fire.
What made me think of the slow software was sometimes I'll fire my SCR at someone. I'll fire a single charge shot, and will do about 50dmg to a players shields. This is why some matches it takes entire clips to destroy an enemy, and sometimes it takes so few rounds that you may over-fire your weapon.
I'm tired of needing to use core nades to equal out a bad PvP logic code. I implore you CCP to correct these issues as your main objective. Players simply cannot have fun when the game mechanics are this badly broken. And, naive new players are dying in mass to these faults and leaving the game before they even get started.
I know what 32 people are doing at once. Trick is, I really only need to pay attention to 31...

Also, this ties into matchmaking actually. I don't believe matchmaking would make such one-sided matches if all the players were capable of equal damage output

The problem with region locking players is that we don't have enough servers and there are many different regions from which the players come from.

At some times the other regions are like a barren wasteland and active players dont want to search for half an hour to get into a match. Thats why some people switch their server settings to get into matches faster and lag is a double edged sword. It can work against you or in your favour. If you are lagging bad its not a uncommon thing to be shot when you jumped into cover. There are 2 worlds:
1. The game how you see it on your PS3
2. The game how somebody else sees you on his PS3

I love having great battles on the EU servers vs other EU players. Its one of the main reasons why I play solo most of the time.
I totally get why people love to play with corp squads, alliance squads etc.. but when you start visiting different regions or ping and latency start becoming a huge issue in the match, its both unfair and not fun to play like that.

Maybe we should just close down all but the america servers and enlarge players hit box relative to their ping.

Bring in a new server for people using the 'automatic server' option, while everyone else can only select their own.
Problem solved, although it would just be nice if the game ran a little less horribly when mixing regions, plenty of other games aren't this bad when joining people from all over the world. |

You would be playing on the Squad Lead's selected server.

Actually, why not simply remove the option to select the region in the client, and have it set to "Automatic" for all players.
The matchmaker most likely pair players with low ping together, resulting in overall better matches.
The main problem is I can select the region I want to play, and deliberately select a high ping server to get an advantage.
Besides, having region to "automatic" does not prevent you from playing with friends from all over the world...

Can't everyone stay on their own selected server when in a squad? Surely that would help with the ping enormously? |

That would be impossible. The battle is held on only one region's server.
