It is best to not even try to reason with them anymore, you'll just drive them to another project.

Their statements unfortunately don't break it down that way... but you can have a look at their overall R & D spending.

The only geographical revenue stream you'll see is by sales per region, but this means little except who is paying for EVE/Dust/whatever content per region, not how these are being spent by each studio.
what would be really juicy is seeing revenues per product per region (ie. per game).

Oh, I certainly expected this thread, Cody. As far as getting more PR, bad PR is what got us into those problems in the first place. I'm not confident more PR would be better.

Someone told me last year at Fan Fest that the reason CCP puts so much effort into R&D is because its a form of investor fraud. If they don't report any profit, they don't have to pay back their investors.
Which is sort of reminiscent to what the NCAA does here in America with money - educational systems are giving exorbitant amounts of money but they can't in any way give that money (currency, gift, food, or otherwise) to Student Athletes and they have to spend that money as having a profit will suddenly stop the revenue stream, so they just start throwing it around any way they can just to get it out of their hands.
Like I said, just something I heard at Fan Fest. I'm no economist, or a fraud detective, just repeating what I was told.

fixed. It really depends: making games for over-saturated platforms/ dying platforms with little to no innovation and bad execution is certainly not an incentive.

True. There's definitely the potential for prototypes to not pan out or for something not to feel as good in practice as it sounds in theory. But that's what R&D is. Experimentation.

It's an absolute f'in surety that more PR would get Dust laughed at after all this time. At the level of fundamental fps gameplay virtually nothing has changed.

As someone who also knows nothing I'm going to ignore your request and quote you...... I think that it's all fairly standard practice, it's why here in the UK at least, there is always a massive splurge on things like road repairs at the end of the tax year as councils try and use up all their money so as not to have to make do with less the next year.
R&D is almost certainly, in my opinion, a better way to 'use up' your profits than some other methods as something may come out of it at the end and should be welcomed. Arguably it's what profits are actually for not simply 'giving a return to investors.'
Anyway It's not like CCP are spunking it all up the wall on a big blowout party for all their mates just before the tax year rolls round again...........

Tbh moving into the VR space had given them a fing huge headstrong on the next important industry. Just like in EvE they beat everybody else to it...

Don't believe its intended to be anything more than what it is. Legion and Valkyrie news both basically confirmed last year that EVE link isn't a goal for projects at CCP.
